  1. Folks Had my second MI light last week in 3 years of Zed ownership - bummer. (they do send a shiver down your spine don't they!) It was the solid (not flashing) type so I drove home really carefully, knowing that some sensor somewhere was probably the culprit... Anyhoo, got it diagnosed as being both rear 02 sensors on Thursday - strangely that's what my first MI light came on for about 18 months ago Ah well, should be able to get both replaced next week, until then I'm driving extra steadily The £499 extended warranty until March 2009 is starting to look like a good call Does anyone know how much these things are? And how many are there on the car..? Thanks all K
  2. Just wondering..? After reading another "back end slipped out suddenly" thread, I'm starting to think that my driving style is a little too mild I don't tend to hand around, but I'm very keen on being as smooth as possible with accelerating, braking, changing direction etc. (probably sounds a little dull, but it's served me well so far - and worked at the Ring!) Reading some threads on PH and the 'other side' sometimes the Zed developes a TVR type of reputation. I mean, the way some threads read, you'd think the Zed has a Jedi-like pre-determined destiny associated with it; a wet road, a gas pedal and a cunningly positioned festively-decorated Silver Birch... And what's all this tyre nonsense..? I was on tyre XYZ so stuffing it was inevitable..? Well, not really, hoofing a front-loaded, RWD monster it in the wet made the shunt inevitable, not a simple tyre choice surely..? Contributing factor at best would you say? I've only once lost control of the thing, when on the infamous "week 1 - I'm Fangio, lets explore the car" I purposely mashed the pedal into the carpeting in 2nd on a wet roundabout - "just to see what it would do" My wife wasn't too pleased and frankly my Snoopy boxers haven't felt the same since. The Zed didn't like the experience either, and gave me the "you tosspot" lights combo which wouldn't go off for the rest of the day Being completely honest, for me the Zed isn't about going balls-out fast (I had a Scooby for that - for which there is no more a focussed hooligan tool) it's about being brisk, but in a different way. A nicer sound, and smarter look if you will. So, how hard do you drive yours..?

    How Much?

Definately. I did this with my Scooby and recovered about 70% of the modding cost via eBay...
  4. I think mine is Kuroblack350 (what else could it be?) Anyone bought Call of Duty 4 - it's awesome:)
  5. 3 years for me too:) And, I can honestly say I've loved pretty much every minute of it:D
  6. ok, there must be something wrong, all those folks look normal (including me!)
  7. holy crap - nearly joined the 'other' one all good now:)
  8. Just wondering, as a club I mean There are stacks of Zed clubs, couldn't find this one
  9. As far as I know all Zeds have the same tank size at 80 litres. Although even having the DTE in " ---- " mode, I've always had at least 11 litres left in the tank. Generally the DTE is quite smart, as you can see it continually adjusting as you move from city to motorway. I don't want to start the whole fuel debate, but on the occasions when I fill up with normal unleaded I'm lucky if I get to 400 from a tank, with super, it's usually the 430 range. Lots of motorway cruising in the month sees this rise to 460-480
  10. I think I averaged about 32mpg on our last trip to the ring, which obviously involed some pretty high sustained speeds. (and that was just getting there!) I think the Zed is pretty economical actually, I've had a shade over 500 miles from a tank before, and 400+ is well within my norm. The DTE is a bit shaky, it doesn't seem to go below 20 for me, it simply displays a " ---- " - which is a tad alarming
  11. I'd guess its a CR025 - but without dismantling the key I'm not 100% sure
  12. Not sure what's changed between the original block and the newer versions, but mine uses no oil at all. (or at least it's incredidibly minimal) I've never had reason to top up between services (12 months) and even on our last trip to the Ring, I ended up carting a litre of 5w40 out there and all the way back:) I'd have it stricly montoried by the dealer. I think some engines have even been replaced, namely the Autocar (i think) Zed.
  13. It's always easier to get very close to one side, leaving as much room as possible on the other side for you to get out. Generous use of wall-mounted rugs is a good idea too:D
  14. Gutted for you... that really does suck. Can't imagine how I'd feel if that happened to me. It's probably better that you don't know who did it, because the law would be on their side entirely... I have a garage so I am pretty lucky, it's a shame but with the UK being the unquestionable poo-hole that it is, I wouldn't consider owning a Zed (or much else really) withhout a garage to stick it in. Hope it's not that expensive to fix K

    Announcement

Having been a member of this forum for a while (had the Zed nearly 3 years now!) I feel like a veteran sometimes All I can say is that I do enjoy this forum, and have never had cause for concern over posts/members/direction/content or whatever. Let's all move forward and discuss some of the more important things in life such as tyres, megiuars n' Zeds... K
  16. Another vote for Sony from me too, awesome cameras One thing I wouldn't be too worried about is pixels, anything over 7 is getting a tad silly, after all - who prints there photos in A1 format? Try and get something with a quality lens, Carl Zeiss for example.
  17. There are several sites, including the AA etc that detail exacty what you need, however from memory; 1. Warning Triangle (Soooo much cheaper in Tesco!) 2. Yellow Vests (good idea anyway) 3. First Aid Kit (Again, Tesco is far cheaper than anywhere else) 4. Bulbs (that don't cover everything, but IIRC it's kit number H7) It's worth checking the guidelines, as the requirements are different for each country. Also, a lot of stuff is recommended as opposed to mandatory. Aside from that, it's plain sailing really. K. Ps. It would be rude not to stop at the Ring, you know you want to
  18. Is it just me, or is this paint too close to "RAC Van Orange"
  19. From what I remember of mine, a solid light is better than a flashing one. As has been said, you can read the codes yourself for peace of mind. From what I remember the procedure is tricky, but well worth it. It's more than lilkey some fairly minor, maybe a sensor problem somewhere. My 02 went pop after about 18 months Long shot, but if you've just filled up, sometimes not sealing the tank properly can set it off - apparently

    Disklok Size?

I had a small disklok on my Scooby, and given that the Zed wheel is smaller, small should be fine. To be honest I have never bothered with the Zed, mainly due to the storage issue, although you can buy a disklok bag, which is handy but could be a pain. Even with careful use, I did create a few stratches around the cabin - they are hefty things. In summary I think they are probably more important for Scoobies, Evos etc - where there's so much more market for them to be stolen. Saying that, if you park it on the street for days, then for a few quid why not. ps. Test fit one first, the arm thingy used to bash the window on the Scoob.
  21. Yes, it did - very strange paint job. Plus, it didn't sound like any Zed I've ever heard, also no sign of additional air intakes at the front
  22. Koblenz made sense because the trip wasn't just about the Ring, althought it did start out that way Besides, it was fairly close, and a good base for the Mosel Valley
