  1. Following on from my earlier thread about extended warranties, I finally bought mine today. It's identical to the Nissan Warranty, aside from the fact that it was £499 for two years cover, rather than the £939 that Nissan wanted. After the good questions raised on here, I clarified a few points; 1. No inpection fee or anything else like that 2. Valid at any Nissan dealer (they would have to call to authorise repair etc.) 3. Includes tow-to-dealer from anywhere in the UK Overall I'm pretty pleased with that, it's not a great deal of money for piece of mind. Also, I can't help but think it only takes a single window motor to go bang, and it's paid for itself. For those of you in the North West (or anywhere I suppose!) this was done through Chorley Nissan. Oh, and it passedthe MoT without a hitch - £42
  2. I'll be there on saturday too - if it's as good as last year, it should be cool
  3. May I ask: "Who says?" Ta. I just did (Middlehurst) Right then, numpty hat firmly placed upon head... 'just the rubbers' how do you do that then, I don't suppose you just buy the rubber bits..? - Or, as I would probably do, by the whole assembly item, strip it and use the rubber bit...
  4. Just to check (I did a very quick measurement in the garage but may have botched it up!) Are they 18" passenger and 20" driver..? thanks
  5. Not sure to be honest, but I'll probably be signing up Friday, so I'll confirm it Worst case is that it's dealer specific. Which isn't so bad, as my dealer has at least 4 or 5 outlets across the North West, all of which are Nissan main dealers.
  6. Nice one guys Agreed. In Berlin for example, the transport system is stunning. You buy a day ticket for 6 euros, and you can use this on ANY form of transport, Bus, Tram, UBhan, SBhan etc. The transport system is completely integrated, and is on time, virtually to the second. Then you come back to the UK and see how far £4 will get you. (it won't even get you home from the airport...)
  7. May have been posted before, but probably worth repeating; http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/traveltax/ Sign up if you'd prefer NOT to have some dodgy tracking device installed in your Zed Taken from the email: The government's proposal to introduce road pricing will mean you having to purchase a tracking device for your car and paying a monthly bill to use it. The tracking device will cost about £200 and in a recent study by the BBC, the lowest monthly bill was £28 for a rural florist and £194 for a delivery driver. A non working Mum who used the car to take the kids to school paid £86 in one month. On top of this massive increase in tax, you will be tracked. Somebody will know where you are at all times. They will also know how fast you have been going, so even if you accidentally creep over a speed limit in time you can probably expect a Notice of Intended Prosecution with your monthly bill. If you care about our freedom and stopping the constant bashing of the car driver, please sign the petition on No 10's new website (link below) and pass this on to as many people as possible.
  8. Great site, but always wondered why there's no Nissan section..? http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/ I would have thought all of the crazy modding Skyline and Pulsar guys would have been on there..? Might be worth having an area for cross-Nissan chat as it were..?
  9. Well, my Zed has somehow managed to reached it's third year in January, and I have to say, it's been good stuff so far Being a paranoid nutter, I was concerned about the warranty ending, so I've been doing some homework and trying to source an extended warranty... So, Nissan HQ (or whatever they are) want a grand total of £939 - and that's for the 70k option, if you're a high miler then it's £1799 (2 year deal) Warranty Direct came in slightly cheaper, at approx £400 for one year, however that was using non Nissan dealers - if you wanted to use approved dealers it was nearer the Nissan one year price of £459. So, marginally depressed, I'd resigned myself to paying just short of £500 for a further 12 months cover. Then I decided to call my local Nissan dealer and see if they offered anything. In summary, two years extended warranty, exactly the same cover as Nissan GB - £550 Pretty pleased with that. Ok, so that was my audio budget, but I've already had a few minor issues that would easily have cost more than £550 - so it seems like a good idea So, here's looking forward to another two years worth of worry free motorin'
  10. You probably did the right thing, although how you managed not to casually knock on his door with a cricket bat I'll never know If he accepts liability it will take a short while, if not - then it could take months... (depressing I know) I'd actually wonder over and ask if he knows anything about it - the curiousity would have got to me long ago
  11. Hi folks, Given that my Spring project will be a series of audio upgrades, I'm wondering what recommendations there are (if any) for decent sound deadening material. I notice that caraudiodirect have stopped selling Dynamat and stock Second Skin instead...? I've also heard reasonable reports for Brown Bread too? Does anyone have any experience in this field? I'm definately doing the doors, perhaps the boot as well if there's a good case for it. Thanks all

    Got One

that's a doozy mate Did you have a Scooby at some point, username seems familiar?
  13. I consistently get around 380 miles from a tank of Super. That's fairly mixed driving, with an 18 mile m'way commute. On a significant run, I've been nearer the 480 mark Interestingly, on the 3 or 4 occasions when I've topped up with Normal Unleaded (no choice) I've strugged to make 340-350...
  14. whoa... sorry about the sizing
  15. does this help folks, a quote from Chorley Nissan a few months ago... Dave[/img]
  16. Don't most dealerships just farm the MoT's out to other testing stations..? Subaru did this all of the time, and I can't remember seeing the MoT logo in any of the dealerships I've visited...

    Help!

I'd try Demon Tweeks, they tend to have a few seats, from full-on racing buckets to leather Cobras - very nice indeed.
  18. yup, that is nice I love these threads, makes me wanna run out to the car park and give the Zed a big hug
  19. Just wondering what the group thoughts were re extended warranties..? Worth it or not - seems a lot for piece of mind. But then again, it only takes one window motor to pack up and it's paid for itself Are there any other decent suppliers aside from Nissan?
  20. Christ on a bike - don't even say that mate
  21. If a car has remaining warranty, then I would steer clear of checking the major mechanicals and look for stuff that won't be covered anyway. I don't actually remember lifting the bonnet before I bought mine (not that you'd see anything!) Clutches for example. Try engaging 6th at a low speed and floor it, checking for signs of rising revs corresponding (or not!) with rising speed. Swirl marks and paint chips are a top tip - these deffo ain't covered:) Chips may buy you bartering points. I'd also check the tyres out too, as you wouldn't want to shell out for a new motor, and then have to shell out for new rubber - that wouldn't be a good day out! You could also check the side of the drivers seat (right side) as this gets serious wear and does tend to fall to bits. As far as I know this is not covered, although I do recall one or two successful claims... They are reasonably bulletproof, so I wouldn't worry. A mate of mine bought an Alfa 147 last year, and the crap that he's been though is considerable...
  22. Just re-reading your post, and sorry to sound a tad thick but; Assuming I fit new fronts: If I disconnect the rears, does that mean that the fronts will have more of the HU's available power - and therefore sound better/get more from the decent speakers..?
