  1. I'll take a roof spoiler Chris, thinking ahead of a finished Zed
  2. All packed up and ready for her 200 mile journey to Emerald Performance for all work electrical related. Hopefully she will be a running car when they're done!
  3. If you read the link, you'll see why I have negated the HU, although in short I'm running all sound from my ipad, into a Audison Bit One Processor which accepts digital in. Then digital into my Audison AV 5.1k Okay so this is an expensive route, but there's many other options. Sure Rafa would accept your dash piece and he will do the work. Message him for a price, but I'd say for his work, shipping and return inclusive of the side slider you'll be looking at £600+ I'd say. I'd do the work, but it's something I've spent a lot of time doing, so it's something I couldn't do in one weekend. Although Doug's kit does save a lot of time. Read through my install and you'll see why it takes so much time.
  4. Oh and Doug doesn't do the installs or fab work anymore. See Rafa Specialities on YouTube. He used to work for Doug but just makes the dash installations.
  5. Doug (Soundman) has already done a 350 and 370. I was going to buy his kit and so no fecking way at that price just for a piece of plastic. Still I watch his daily videos without fail. Otherwise I made my own kit! http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/92221-ipad-mini-install-obdii-dash-command-page-10/ And some recent pics.
  6. Spotted and enjoyed. Van was epic!
  7. Did exactly the same but in Europe, which caused a few issues when work was required specifically due to speaking the lingo. We planned on 14 countries and out of the 4 we selected for work, we struggled. We even had issues when in Spain believe it or not. It wasn't until we hit south east Spain where we could get work, these were centred around resorts being full of English. We had to work in Benidorm (bloody hated it, never will I go there again!). Then when we headed to Ibiza work was fine. Europe unless you have a language gets you nowhere. As you're doing Australia I'd concentrate on doing your work stint there. You'll find it a lot easier to find work. Secondly Europe is seasonal especially in the resorts and so we struggled at first to find work (arrived in Spain late May), mainly as the majority of jobs had already gone. Whether you'll experience that in Oz I don't know.
  8. If you want to use the Bose amp, wiring and speakers you'll need a aftermarket head unit. You won't be able to just tap into the wires or amp.
  9. Ian you are some kind of nutter, back to the original, I mean wtf? Can a man change his mind THIS many times? I thought only women changed their mind a million times a day, but jeepers creepers I'm totally stumped. Don't tell me you're going to keep this one standard
  10. Well, all updates are now complete for stage 1. Clutch slave delivered this week and fitted before I had even arrived on Friday (cheers Chris and Bob). Clutch is working good now rather than blowing slave cylinders. All pipes wrapped, fuel lines and anything that needed protection. Exhaust is all on, engine and gear box fluids filled. Fuel return all plumbed, oil relocation all done. Car put back together and is now ready for stage 2! ELECTRICS!!!! Stage 3 will be dependant on stage 2 but ultimately final fix and cosmetics. So... I shall leave this little picture here as Chris opens up his champagne and chocolate to celebrate no more work on the car for a while. Thanks to Chris, Kim and kids for your hospitality, see you soon to collect Suzi for her journey to Norfolk.
  11. Cheers fella, will have a bash on that then. Hopefully this will be the finished article (at last!)
  12. It's recommended to have top and bottom gaskets, otherwise it's not a tight seal. See pic below for example:
  13. Can you supply these by any chance? Or know who can? Thanks again, Olly I might know a man who can I'll see what I have left in terms of stock. I know I have gaskets, plenum bolts, Nylon spacers, but I believe I'm totally out of strut bolts and spacers. I will check for you this evening.
  14. So in other words don't try to repair with a very high grit level, head back a stage and go for the wet finish. Therefore, maybe go back 1-2 levels, reapply 3 layers, 1 tack, 2 coat, 3 wet coat. Fair enough, I've been living in wet and dry for months, so I'm familiar with the process, especially as this is now my 5th attempt at getting it right. To be fair Satin is far easier to apply than gloss. My gloss finish I attempted twice and failed, specifically as the shape of the item isn't exactly easy to apply by rattle can.
  15. Looks like you are missing All bolts and washers for the plenum Strut bolts and strut spacers Gaskets for the spacer Nylon spacers for inside the plenum
  16. Right, need some paint advice. This is now paint job number 5 on my iPad dash, clearly I'm enduring the learning curve!! I decided that a gloss finish was far too complicated and ended up taking the plunge with a satin finish. Which to be fair has come out pretty nice. Although, I'm now at the point of where do I stop this process? What I've noticed is that in some parts the finish is not 100% smooth, which I would guess is over spray and not a full layer of paint applied. One section can be seen looking from the top of the dash where the triple gauge meets the cover for the satnav. The finish on top of the cover does not feel smooth, therefore how do I proceed? Finish on the below section is perfect - nice and smooth Above the satnav hood, it's not smooth and this is where some paint advice is needed My thoughts are: Finish with 3000 grit or higher? Apply further coats of paint (even though it's now cured) I fear the 3000 grit or higher may still leave residue of sanding. Applying further coats, does that mean starting with a tack coat again?

Well considering I wanted a shed for my daily long haul commute a lot of cars had to be reviewed. Spec: Economy Performance Comfort Looks Gadgets Price Mileage Bought my 2007 159 2.4 JTDM with 60k on the clock. Solely for work I do 33k miles a year and the Alfa just seemed to tick all the right boxes. I can get 600 miles from the tank. Performance is brilliant for a boat, but equally a cruiser with an air of whaft. It was a risk chosing an Alfa, but tell you what. Best bang for my bucks. Oh and the price £4,700 a steal if you ask me. Will be going for the Ti 2.4 JTDM next poss 2009. Based on Autotrader my car has lost £1,400 in 2 years and also based on mileage. Costs for servicing have been reasonable. But ultimately smiles per mile have been very high, considering this was supposed to be a shed!

I purchased my 159 2 years ago, 60k miles later not a single problem. Nothing has broken, fallen off, corroded or embarrassed me. Been an epic car considering she does 160 miles a day! More reliable than a Zed to be brutally honest. It's a lazy bit of stereotyping by me, sorry Alfas. I'd say Alfa stepped up their game a little LOT by what I would guess around 8-10 years ago. I was sorely disappointed that my Alfa doesn't come with issues, in fact they claim you're not a petrol head till you've owned one. Personally don't see the fuss, just like any other car really. Would I have another one, yes I would, without any shadow of doubt. In fact I'm already looking at my next one to buy!

    Welcome to the Alfa club
  22. Looks like you ALL need smart meters!
  23. wow might have to take a look at these , our DD is £121 pm if the savings compares thats significant £121 PM! Are you powering a mansion!
  24. Complete brilliance! Regular electric DD was £32.50 per month. Now it's been reduced to £25 a month. The machine doesn't do anything other than tell you how much electricity is being used. Although you end up with a tendency to shout at the Mrs for leaving lights on when not needed. Informative and great fun to see how low you can get it. Great gadget, looks great (EON), serves a purpose and is FOC. Well it's actually saved me £7.50 a month which is a free bottle of Red a month
  25. Jap import, CAT C, 100k miles and 9.5k!!! Really?
