    Do some poking about first . . you might end up with two holes, one letting water in . . and your new one . . letting more water in

If its running in from else where you should see the water marks on the floor pan., or a stain on the bottom of the carpet.

    I would take it apart again, sounds like something is not correct. The Cassette mechanism should move freely with or without a cassette in.

    You can, and they need to be cut off and the new ones welded on. Just make sure the diameters match
