I fear Dan is right, by that point I think public transport would have changed drastically negating the need for personal transport. Look at the expanding Tram system of Nottingham, as other towns adopt something similar, the counties and the country gets smaller. If i can commute for less than the cost of a car, why wouldn't I? I love driving, I really do, and I really hate people, so being on a train is difficult for me, but cars are old hat, petrol, diesel or EV.

But can you imagine the outcry when people who don't drive and never have all of a sudden find income tax increase to offset the loss in fuel revenue?

Well, there is no fighting it, I know that much. Personally, I'd have the funding ready for the clutch failure, but wouldn't throw money at something that's ok. Best thing is to look at the traders Torqen and Tarmacsportz for the majority of those bits. Have fun though

I agree @SuperStu, its a middle Britain mentality. I quite like the wind turbines, i think they're graceful. But I live in a suburb, so it doesn't look out of place.

\What interests me is what they'll replace the money generated from fuel tax. If all of a sudden we no longer need to buy fossil fuels to run our cars, but are still using the roads, something else will need to be taxed to compensate. All of a sudden there will be no tax free cars anymore, as EV's will become subject to road tax. And that runs on the assumption that car/fuel tax only goes into the road infrastructure, which as we all know it doesn't. Sure road costs will be less, but higher VAT and income tax to compensate, negating any savings from owning an EV. SO enjoy it while you can, as the cash benefits will vanish. But environmentally we'll be better off.

Yeah I've never heard of a governing body going back on there word when targets are going to be missed. I guess it's inevitable that it'll happen, but by 2040? Only time will tell. According to another thread, 23rd September will herald the 2nd coming, so Dan may be right about not in his lifetime.

Welcome. The quickest way to check the above is the Rev counter. DEs rev to 6.5, revups to 7. There is a remap called an uprev (which confused me with revup at first) which a few traders on here do.

The difficulty would also arise when multiple trader offer similar products, Tarmac sportz, Torqen, Abbey, Horsham etc. As a lowly member trader, I find find keeping threads updated and bumped regularly helps me to sell.
