  1. Welcome to the forum! Lovely car, that gets a like
  2. Parking nightmares. I have my neighbour who daily parks partly across the front of my drive blocking access. I've explained that I will either knock to ask them to move it, at 4am! Or I will lose my patience and go 'street fighter bonus round'
  3. Personally, I went for a pre tax increase model. Purely because of the limited mileage I do. I agree if you are using it every day then the difference is minimal and you should just go for the best example regardless of tax. My zed is a weekend car (occasional weekend car at that) so I wanted to save a few hundred Pounds a year. Have a look at the for sale section on here there's some lovely motors gone in recently. Some members have upgraded their DE with face-lift lights, bonnet etc. So they may be a great compromise if one catches your eye.

    Coilovers

    interesting... might be considering these
  5. It's a guy thing. I fell in love with my zed before I'd seen it in person, just tried to hide how desperately I wanted it from the guy selling it
  6. There's always going to be a time when you come up against a car that will wipe the floor with yours. Buy an evo, there's lads who spend a small mortgage on theirs and would make you feel stupid if you thought you were fast. I used to only care about what my car was faster than. Now I only care what my cars like to drive and be in. I think my zed taught me a bit about that. It might not be the quickest car but she's pretty. And I could be at the lights behind a golf r, s3 etc.. And people would still admire the zed.
  7. Sometimes you find a way to raise the extra cash when you really want a car haha. Also, original figure £4750, purchase price £5250. I've extensively researched the mathematics required to determine the price difference. I have even requested the opinions of several professional contacts. They all confirm that's £500, not a grand haha.
  8. Congratulations! Get photos up for us to see
  9. I read the list of cars you have mentioned there... my honest opinion in that a zed probably isn't for you, the turbo tt will feel faster because of the boost. I don't know about the sLk but I would imagine it's quite a bit lighter than a 350. The zed to me (my opinion) is a little lazy unless pushed. It's a 3.5 v6 that's how the engines are. A remap would make it livelier through the revs though. The later 350 HR has more power and revs higher so it might be the one for you to consider. I personally looked at the zed for its all round appeal. Looks, reliability, Drive well and are not as common as some other sports cars. I'm looking forward to what others have to say.
  10. If your looking to part exchange with someone why not give that swapz website a go. Someone may be interested depending on what your moving on from
  11. I ran nitrous, and was insured through a company called brentacre. They were good, but insisted it was insured to its bhp when nitrous was in use (calculated by the shot 50shot-50bhp approx). They also insisted that even if the bottle itself was removed it would have to be insured as having it due to the rest of the fittings in the car. I argued that having a turbo on my back seat doesn't mean I have to insure the car as turbo'd, but in the end I understood what they were saying and I wanted to be safe if there was an accident
  12. As said above. Also to add, maybe I shouldn't have been as off-putting towards imports, they can be gems. Just be careful of its history regardless of UK spec or import.
  13. I saw this and produced a good healthy chuckle
  14. Your budget is absolutely fine and you should be able to find a nice motor with it. I would be looking for a 2004/5 model with reasonable mileage and we'll looked after. Be wary of lower priced cars, some are imports and are less desirable when they don't have the gt pack or poor history. Prices are all over the place sometimes, but that's down to condition, service history and extras. A well looked after motor with a recent clutch, brakes and service is worth the extra money. A clutch will cost £700-800 quid as an estimate. Brakes can cost a few hundred quid for the front or the back. Buying a car that's a grand cheaper than another might seem like a great idea but the money saved can quickly change if you need a clutch and brakes for example. Best place is the for sale section on here hopefully you could find something well known and well looked after. Good luck.
  15. Jumping back in... If anyone is considering a 350z and care about extra power, then in my opinion they are buying the wrong car unless forced induction is considered. There's far faster cars out there for the same prices. Sure extra power in a zed is nice but for me the difference between a DE and a HR wouldn't be enough for me to rule out getting an older one. I would go as far to say that a few mods and a remap and a DE shouldnt be far behind the faster version. On top of that I don't think I would ever care. They all Drive nice and look great, they all have decent power. Unless your going to go everywhere with your dyno printout to show everyone your extra 15bhp it doesn't matter
  16. Complete stab in the dark but... There is either a loose connection somewhere which will be damn near impossible to find unless the stereo stays on but just no sound? What head unit and what amp? Do you have the original bose amp for the speakers still fitted? If that's the case it may be the bose speaker amp. If it seems to happen when it's rained or raining then check your boot. Strip out the carpet, spare wheel and the foam supports that are in there. The fact that rain makes it play up has me wondering if you have the boot leak some people have had. Water runs down the inside of the boot and gets in by the lights.. Have a check and report back
  17. There are a few places for parts.. I would always look at the traders section on here. I like the guys at tarmacsportz and Torqen but there are some others on here that are very good aswell. If it's your intention to get a cheap one now and have something else later then I would take a deep breath and order the invidia or something similar. Best quality and there are lads on this forum who will have had them for years without issue I'm sure
  18. I have heard the japspeed k4 in person when I viewed a few 350's. Very refined noise and looked the part too. However... japspeed don't have the best reputation around these parts. They have been subject to complaints on quality, fitment and after sales service. I've used their parts before for different cars and found them to be fine but can't confirm for the zeds. There are a few different exhausts available. One of the favourites is the invidia but it's a grand. I would give tarmacsportz a call and ask them about the k4 which they sell. They will be honest and using them to purchase it instead of directly going to japspeed would be a smart move if you have any issues at all..
  19. I'm not exactly sure on when the HR model starts but it's around 08. Easiest way to tell is by the bonnet and the twin air intakes instead of a single one. Personally I would say the HR for 11k is a bit steep but it's going to be hard to find a 350z with that low mileage, that's probably why it's high priced. I would chose the honest 370 if I was looking at that price range I think.
  20. Oh to add to that the AA and rac do a service for checking a used car and I've found it helpful for most basic mechanical checks. Or hang about and try pick one up from the for sale section on here. Many of the cars that come up are well known, as are the owners.
  21. Welcome bud, Plenty of threads about the different models of zed you can get... I will try and be short about your options: Imports are OK, but most of them lack the extras like cruise control, leathers, brembos etc that the UK cars have (gt pack). I would say go for a UK cars unless it's a good deal on the import and it has loads of UK history. The 350 has 3 models: 2004 - cheaper tax (old style tax bands) 2006 - face-lift, bit more bhp, less torque (not a big difference), higher tax 500+. They call it the revup engine and some are known to use a little oil (again nothing major usually) Then there's the final model, the HR, 315bhp approx so much more power, different power bulge bonnet (much nicer) few other changes but budget dictates the best choice for you. The HR is the 350 to go for. I didn't go for one I went for an 04 as I don't drive it much and dont mind about the power difference. The 370 is a different breed. In my opinion a better car in every way, but the price of one reflects that obviously. In short... any zed will be a joy to own and drive so long as you take your time and pick the right one for you
  22. Lovely clean motor there.. Mishimoto induction kit's a winner
  23. People recommend who they know of and who they think will do a good job, I'm sure someone who has used you before would recommend you. I have no doubt that your work is very good, I have seen photos and read about you. However, I regularly see that other traders are responding to people who have posted for advice or looking for a good place to spend their money. Doing the same would help. Being a paid up registered trader enables you to do that, and it also puts you on the list of companies that can be looked at in that section. My advice is to occasionally put something on the forum to show us what you are getting up to and give us something to read/look at. Would only take a couple of minutes to knock a post together with some pictures every now and again, and that would keep you at the top of the pile (for want of a better set of words)
  24. Welcome! From a bit of a Honda fan aswell.. It's been posted about the different models you can get a bunch of times so you should find all the info you need on here quite easily. A word for the lads selling through the forum, it would be a great to buy from one of us you will get looked after in terms of advice and honesty I'm sure
