  1. Ade, this is great, do you plan on setting up a store front? You really should so you can put things in categories, etc. Note the link on this guy's page 'Visit Shop' http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/l-products Whereas yours just says 'view items for sale'. Good luck, I'll be following you.
  2. You just described my first effort at left boot braking, and why I don't even try any more, not even in sim racing, I'm simply too many years programmed that the left foot operates the clutch, it's not in me to 'fix' that now. I can't even do it in sim racing. Wanna feel bad? Watch this pro le mans driver, who is a ****ing legend in his own right, do sim racing at the highest level while joking and acting insane, I would give a bollock for his skill, but it's too late for me now... Just noticed he didn't show the pedals in that one, but it's still well worth watching to get a feel for the guy (one of my favourite channels), here's one with the pedals visible, his resting position is left foot on brake. :/
  3. I don't think anyone finds it easy to modulate the brake while rev matching with the heel, it's a very difficult skill. As stated, when driving hard, it's much easier.
  4. :O You're a legend, this is EXACTLY the kind of thing I've been looking for (but would possibly never have considered) for wearing when sim racing. Socks are too thin and slippy and shoes are too heavy. I don't know if I could keep a pair of those in size 11 in my REAL car, for fear of misunderstandings when valeted or parked by others , but in my sim cockpit, no worries!
  5. Welcome mate. Any thin soled, slim shoe is a good driving shoe. I use to daily wear a pair of these (Adidas Monaco, I think), they are not pro driving shoes, they're driving oriented fashion shoes, but they are an excellent driving shoe, and a nice looking trainer. I will never be someone who changes shoes to go for a drive, so my 'daily' trainers have to take this into account when I buy them. I do not drive spiritedly in my work shoes (not boots, leather soled slip ons, but equally inappropriate), I would never forgive myself if I 'messed it up' because of that.
  6. That is indeed what you'll do (as well as press the brakes too hard and all kinds of other fun nooby errors) while learning to heel-toe, but you'll get the hang of it. Nothing else needs to be said. Learn by doing and it'll come to you. The right shoes help (there are no right shoes, its a personal thing), and a lightweight flywheel made it a little easier for me, cos the default throttle input on the Z is a bit laggy (why some people fit those pedal booster things) so the light flywheel helps the engine get up and down a bit quicker. I still don't always hit exactly exactly the revs I want (and in these cases, you can be quicker or slower with the clutch to correct, to a point) especially when I'm driving 'excitedly', but it's close enough. Slightly over-revving is somewhat damped by the fact you're on the brakes anyway, under revving simply feels like you didn't heel-toe enough, so slows you down markedly faster, again not the end of the world but will ruin your line on turn in.
  7. I love how you assume that ! Come on then, Rich, spill the bloody beans, how 'exactly' did it happen (mechanical or pilot), was your mate alright, did the car survive? No insensitivity intended to the victims, it's a learning (and curiosity, naturally) thing. We see lots of these kinds of videos, but rarely have the opportunity to interrogate witnesses.
  8. I have a K2motor (US ebay vendor) 250 quid Chinese clone of the Japspeed K4, which in turn is a copy of the HKS hi-power dual. I'm thrilled with it. The sound is exactly as you ask, loud and deep, but not raspy and perfectly fine at motorway speeds. When you put your foot on the floor, all hell breaks loose. They need custom work to fit under a viscous diff (but not if you have a base model). I really need to do a sound clip for you guys, I actually feel really proud to have found such an awesome exhaust for so little money (even after delivery and customs), it even looks FANTASTIC, FAT blue burnt tips and that classic diagonally mounted backboxes shape, as well as being a true dual, it's win win win. I'll be fitting Wasso's pre-cut rear chargespeed to show them off as soon as he;s finished with it. The prices go up and down between about 200 and 350 dollars, I guess depending on how many pieces he has at the time... Here is the shop, but he doesn't have any at the moment, so there's a link below to the expired auction that I bought...look at that price http://stores.ebay.com/K2motor http://www.ebay.com/itm/301952892888
  9. Serves you all right, should have voted Buckethead. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/06/09/lord-buckethead/
  10. Coilpacks is a decent shout. Did you scrape the bottom of the tank recently? I.E. Run it almost totally empty? Got some crap in an injector from the bottom of the tank? Bad fuel is a good call too, spark is easy to check as well. Fingers crossed for you. By the way, my car works well with the cheap ebay VGate wifi ODB reader and Torque Pro for android. Cheap and invaluable tool.
  11. This, but I'm gonna pull on your human strings too, because I bet you have long and sensitive ones, as an EV owner (and that does you credit), but we all have a duty to keep insurance claims to an absolute minimum, it's the unnecessary stuff that pushes all our premiums up, people 'taking the ****' if you like.OF COURSE I'm not saying that you are doing that, or even close to it, but for 3 weeks to a month, you'd be 'ok' in a Focus. Cos you getting that Tesla, that's gonna cost the company's other customers, and ultimately everyone down the line. Jus sayin'. Stuff happens, other people's fault, we all accept that as road users. You are due a family car, imo, end of.
  12. Bit of a wake up call for me to be honest, I've got a top of the line BlackVue sitting staring at from the shelf where it's sat for a year, a birthday gift I just never got around to fitting. That'll be going in at the weekend and I'll get one for the missus.
  13. His site certainly takes a galactically long time to load...
  14. You should be able to amplify your whine in your recording using Audacity (and/or reduce exhaust noise), worth having a play, Audacity is a great (free, completely) app so even if it doesn't help you with your recording, now you've got it, you can use it to cut up mp3s and make ringtones with exactly the parts of the song that you want. lol. I used to mainly use it back in the day for making my favourite songs longer, by copying and splicing in repeating verses and chorus, etc. Cutting and splicing is very easy. I digress...
  15. Good post. Interesting that he was still going at 'race pace' after the finish line. It seems they want to know how THAT happened, rather than the technical reasons for the failure/fire. Weird. Makes it sound like he overcooked it while acting like a plum (which wouldn't be the first time).
  16. I've been trying to convince my wife that we need this poster for a looooong time. She's proving tough to convince. Not quite what you're after, but if you're anythingn like me, maybe worth considering. https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Artwork/Stormtrooper-Artwork-canvas-split-prints/B01A2L7YPU
  17. The 458 is both easier to drive and faster than the GT3RS by all accounts, but you're right, the fact that he tried too hard is evidence of his nature to 'risk it'.
  18. Are you allowed to post the dashcam footage? I'd like to see it please.
  19. 20mm isn't enough for the rear. 25 rear, 20 front minimum, but after doing it, I wish I'd gone 25 front 30 rear. As for sound, yeh, an induction kit and moreso, test pipes, make all the difference. However, I wouldn't change my stock airbox for a cone or a mushroom just for the 5% improvement in sound, it will suck in hotter air and reduce performance. The 350 engine bay is a hot, HOT place. You can get rear facelift lights from our vendors if you want originals or there;s an ebay vendor in the US called unclesamdeal who sells Chinese copies ridiculously cheap (nothing wrong with them, just delivery will take a while and you'll pay customs, so consider carefully if you'd rather NOT save the 200 quid and get real ones faster). Also, the UKDM facelift rears are only red, there's a JDM model which is chrome, only the copies are available in black from what I understand, and for my car, black would go better, I think yours too, but obviously it's a matter of taste. UKDM: JDM: Black JDM copies...
  20. I agree it's all about that noise. Such a rare sound these days.
  21. Quite an upgrade from a TT in terms of driving pleasure if not outright performance, well done! Glad to have you aboard.
  22. You have a base model import I assume, I do too. I picked up my full set of brembo calipers for about 500 quid. In order to fit them to your car you will need new brake lines compatible with brembo calipers (get stainless braided, it's an opportunity), new backing plates from any second hand car, brush em up and paint em yourself (you do want these, or the inner pads will get eaten way before the outers), and the 4 bolts that hold the rear calipers on are different, so you'll need those too. Then it's just discs and pads. Figure about a grand all in for a good set of second hand brembos fitted to the car all done with new discs and pads. Your bottlecap brakes are actually fine for road use, and the brembos are only about 15% better, but of course a BBK will run you a fair bit. Forum vendors that can help you out... torqen.uk - has a lot of discs and pad choices as well as the brembo bolts available separately and a good choice of BBK's including his own brand, which are on some very nice cars. MTEC - own brand OE quality discs are very well priced tarmacsportz.co.uk - good selection of discs and pads, BBKs.
  23. Glad nobody was hurt. Hey, look on the bright side, if they write it off you can get a proper colour, like black or......erm....ginger.
