Maybe worth checking if the male and female connection for 12v are matching? It happened to me once (different car, not zed). The aftermarket connected/harness that I bought has the power (12v) pin in the wrong slot hence no power going into the headunit.

As Zeus said, the immobilizer chip isn't powered by battery. Replace your battery and try before your reprogram it. Your zed will still be paired to your key fob even if you replace your fob battery, save yourself some time and avoiding the 'secret handshake' to reprogram.
