That thing should have paddle shift gears imo, ...did not look safe taking your hands off the wheel for even a second to change gear!
-
No worries and glad it helped. That's what the forum should be all about.
-
I had ZZ3's on my old Civic Type R ~ worked well enough and a good value tyre imo.
-
^^ Sounds like a cool build.
-
Duh, ...weight saving. Look's great Alex, ...well sort of for a project still in progress but you get what I mean. Gonna be amazing.
-
Sorry to be a pain Ballistic, would you suggest upgrading to this too? http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3f2d1ba685 Honest answer is I haven't seen a Zed with one of those fitted nor have I done that to mine. It look's pretty good but unless you really need to I wouldn't be spending the best part of £200 on it. Money could be spent on better things firstly imo.
-
was that short or long tube? #teamtarmac I'd guess Ian had shorties ~ that's pretty cool if it is. What manifolds where they Ian?
-
^^ Feel kind of sorry for her. Obviously just excited with no idea of the cars width. Oh well it's not like she can't afford to pay the repair bill.

exactly why I'm taking advantage of my engine being swapped. Just need to work out if there is any benefits of long tube to having decats #teamtarmac From what I've read the best results for performance increases are by having long tube manifolds, ...but by far they are the most expensive option, if you want to pass the MOT (if you don't have a mate that can get you through) you will need to put HFC's/Cats somewhere else along the exhaust system and for the extra cash they cost the performance gained isn't necessarily worth it. For example: Na Zed ~ Let's say long tube manifolds are £1500 and you gain 15hp by adding them and short tube manifolds (Stillen/DC Sports etc) are £550 and you gain let's say 8hp. Is that extra 7hp worth it for the extra £950? Those numbers are all just made up but that's just to try and give an example of what I'm on about. If you're a time attack racer then it is probably worth it but for the average fast road/occasional track day user then maybe not. As Ian says though manifolds are definitely worth doing especially if you are having the engine out anyway (with the engine in situ I'd guess it's a 4-6hr job) it's just imo about trying to get the best "pound to bhp" increase you can.
-
It's all a matter of personal taste. Personally I'd follow Andy's advice: buy what you like & fit it ~ if you don't like it then sell it on to cover some of the original costs.
-
Well I'd take it more as the truth if someone had done a before & after on a dyno rather than "yeah my butt dyno said it added X amount of horsepower". How many people have had an uprev with dyno showing increased bhp and they say it's no better ! Dyno's are not conclusive and differ from place to place That's true but for example: The thread I read on my350z.com regarding the Crawford exhaust manifolds for the 350Z/G35 was done on the same day, on the same car, on the same dyno ~ the ambient temps etc where all the same during both dyno runs and nothing else was changed on the car bar the manifolds. The dyno showed only a few more HP (think it was like 2-5hp@hub) increase over the standard manifolds and hardly worth the money in that owners opinion.

Hhhm, so more expensive isn't always best. Interesting. Reason I said Borla is because I've seen it on our friend Chris's site and they are like £700odd compared to the £550 odd for Stillen. I did here good things about Crawford manifolds so started thinking they may be the ones to hunt down but then I read a few more threads where people saying they had sh*t or no gains?!! Would be good if we had a dedicated manifolds thread to try to sort the BS from the truth.
-
^^ Can't argue with you there Stevo. What about "Borla" headers Matt? They look pretty good too.

Zeb it's totally up to you what you do but I'd take Matt (grundys) advice if I was you as he's talking from experience. I got an alloy wheel & tyre package from The Cougar Store on here ~ I was looking at spacers but ended up getting new alloys in the end as it is a much better idea to do it that way and Mitz was able to advise me on exactly what offset/sizes I needed to get the set up I was after. Both these traders linked below are forum traders so you can PM both if you want to discuss sizes or alloy manufacturers to see if they can get the make you're after or a very similar style to the ones you want. Just fyi all before this thread ends up getting locked by the mods ~ this is not an auction site ~ if you want to make dj a sensible offer best to do it via PM.

Zeb has your Zed got Brembo brake calipers? Did you notice this in the advert....
-
Hello Jack, Not sure where you are looking at getting your alloys from or where you got those sizes but they're are plenty of good traders on here that will sort you out. I bought my Rota alloys from Mitz at The Cougar Store and he helped me get the correct tyre/alloy wheel package to suit my Zed. Send him a PM for prices and more info; http://www.350z-uk.com/user/8724-cs/ Chris at Tarmac Sportz is another great trader on here and he does the exact alloys you want ~ sizes etc are quoted on his website. Link here; http://www.tarmacsportz.co.uk/GB/350z_18_Inch_Set_Rota_GTRD_Wheels/350z-18350ZROTGTRD.aspx Again PM him on here for more info/prices. Good luck.

^^ No problem Harry.

Have a read of this thread: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/87305-anyone-running-a-supersprint-exhaust-system/ Lot's of talk about the long tube style exhaust manifolds. More hassle than it's worth imo & expensive too.
-
^^ True. Get some pictures up when/if you can & more importantly enjoy it.

Great looking roadster you've got there Jonny. Was just reading this thread about coilovers V's springs in case you're interested. Link: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/66336-coilovers-vs-lowering-springs-real-word-ride-height/

Welcome aboard HM and hope you enjoy your new Zed. At least you know who to chase up if something goes wrong. Make sure you get that warranty from your Dad.

Looks great.

Erm... What the beep?
GMballistic replied to Sandstorm82's topic in Introductions & Welcome Messages
Welcome aboard. Is the Zed an import or UK model? Reason I ask is I was just wondering if maybe the beep was something to do with an alarm/immobiliser that you might get if the cars an import with an aftermarket alarm system. Sorry not much help I know ~ my UK Zed makes no such noise fyi.
