  1. what class did you pick also ive been reading with allamo you get to choose out of the cars in stock you dont get given one Can't remember the class, car was a fairly large saloon and well priced for what it was. To be fair was fine for what I needed it for, large boot, air con and all the mod cons, just let down by the worst automatic gearbox I've had the misfortune of driving. Engine had plenty of power but never let you use it!
  2. Used Alamo when I was in the States last year. Service and price were both good, car was rubbish though! (Dodge Avenger)
  3. Unless he's a front seat passenger in an import than the bloke who sent the photo in is committing an offence as well. Two for the price of one for which ever traffic officer this lands on!
  4. Is it still possible to order one? If so, put me down for one please
  5. I haven't seen many about, whereabouts are you based ? Plymouth
  6. Always good to see another Zed owner in the South West Based just the right side of the Tamar myself .
  7. Suspect if they didn't provide their details the driver at least would have found himself in the back of van an off to custody till it could be proven who he was and that he had a driving licence. Sadly, the idiot with the camera is able to selectively edit the footage to try and make the officers look stupid. What you never see in these videos is how the situation ends, which is usually with the person being arrested and in a much worse situation than they would have been! And for those moaning about Police going after motorists, firstly, don't forget that police officers are motorists too and secondly, surely it's a good thing if it helps keep our Zeds safe on the road!
  8. 1. Get back running again after a slack 2014 2. Eat more healthly (mostly stop snacking at work ) 3. Try to get my finances back on track by cutting lots of small but frequent purchases like DVDs and better budgetting on food (sticking to point two may help here!)
  9. Last day off for me today before I am back into work for 6 days tomorrow. On the plus side, extra pay for working Christmas and boxing day and the I'm supposed to be off over New Year and bagged some overtime as well. The extra pennies have already been earmarked for some new tyres as the rears are down to legal minimum and it's got its MOT coming up in the new year.
  10. My bad! Should have paid more attention to first post and not the thread title. My post does mention my Zed though. It's not really had any highlight this year, other than getting a shiny new gear knob. Haven't even racked up much mileage in it :-( think I've spent most my time behind the wheel driving up and down the A38 between Plymouth and Exeter moaning that it's only two lanes and swearing at the driver in the outside lane doing 61mph to overtake the vehicle doing 60mph in the inside lane.
  11. Sadly plenty of people do fall for this type of thing. One of the biggest scams this year has been one were the scammer phones pretending to be a police officer from the Met Police saying they have someone in custody for using a cloned bank card for your account and then ask questions to get your bank details. Some of them even ask you to withdraw a sum of money from your account as part of the investigation and then send a courier round to pick up the cash. One case in the South West were an elderly lady fell for this scam and then a few months later was scammed again when they again pretended to be Police officers this time saying they had caught the culprits from the first time and had her money back for her. If memory serves me correctly they stole over £80k from her over the two occasions.
  12. Highlight of my year was a holiday to the States with my twin brother. Never done a big holiday before (last time I left the UK was a school trip to France in the early 00's!) so was a completely new experience for me. Apart from watching an obscene amount of baseball the two main highlight we're ringing the church bells at Washington Cathedral and attending the Twins Festival, the largest annual gathering of twins in the world (http://www.twinsdays.org). Thankfully no major low points other than spending a fortune on the holiday so having no money left to spend on the Zed. Hopefully be able to find some change down the back of the sofa to start rectifying that in 2015.
  13. Went on holiday to the States in the summer with my twin brother (and we didn't end up killing each other!). Highlight was going to the Twins Festival in Twinsburg, Ohio. The largest annual gathering of Twins in the world! (Just under 2 000 sets of twins this year). Weird seeing so many twins in one place and for once not being the odd one out for being with someone that looks just like you! Picture of us gearing up for the Twinsburg 5k Fun Run.
  14. http://www.axevalleyrunners.org.uk/grizzly/ 20 miles of hills, bogs and wading through rivers along the east Devon coast!
  15. Went to a grammar school were going to university was seen as the be all and end all and no other post school options were ever really discussed. Like most from my school I went to university (Cardiff) and hated it and ended up dropping out midway through the second year after getting a job as a projectionist (sadly now longer required after the digital revolution). Ended up working several years in low paid retail jobs after that before getting my current job. If I could rewind the clock I'd definitely choose to learn a trade rather than go to university. There are more people going to University than there are jobs that actually require having a degree these days. When I was earning minimum wage in the retail sector I worked with plenty of people with degrees who couldn't find a graduate job. I have also seen job adverts that state applicants must have a degree when the job itself really doesn't require one, I guess because so many people are coming out of university. However I would say there is a shift going on in some sectors towards skills rather than education. I work as civilian staff in the Police at the moment and they are far more interested in people being able to evidence things like communication, problem solving and team working skills than whether you have a degree or not.
  16. Sent you a PM. Hoping you still have one left in stock
  17. Don't post much but read through a lot of threads looking for tips, ideas and advice. Also bought a couple of small bits and pieces from the for sale forum.
  18. And the worst bit about it is we never got any closer. To this day we have no idea if he a. contacted the father and b. if the father paid up.
  19. Joined the A38 (dual carriage way) out of Plymouth this morning and some t##t in a Mondeo ST was behind me, we both pulled into the outside lane to overtake slowly traffic and quickly got stuck behind a car in the outside lane going barely faster than the traffic in the inside lane. I leave a sensible gap between myself and the car in front but Mondeo man is obviously in a hurry to get somewhere and proceeds to drive about an inch off my back bumper, as if that is somehow going to make the car in front of me go faster. Decided if he wants to drive into the back of someone's car, it can be someone else's (better he crashes into something that isn't a Zed!), so pulled over and let him past then pulled back out behind him. He then proceeded to drive about an inch off the back of the car I was initially stuck behind for about half a mile before he pulled into the inside lane and off the dual carriage way! Couldn't believe it, all that and he was only going a mile down the road
  20. Parent's neighbour once knocked on their door wanting some advice. One of his tenants had died two months previously of a drugs overdose and at the time of his death owed a few months rent. He asked if they thought enough time had passed to send the tenant's dad a letter chasing the rent as the father was the guarantor!
  21. Closest I've ever had to being in an RTC was the weekend I picked my Zed up! Collected it on the Saturday and being rather excited took it out for another drive on the Sunday. On the way back home approached a roundabout on a stretch of dual carriage way. Left hand land you could turn left or go straight on and the right hand land was straight on only. Approach in the right hand land and there's an old lady driving some generic soccer wagon in the left hand lane. We both pull onto the roundabout but rather than stay in the left hand lane and actually go around the roundabout she just drives straight on ending up straddling the two lanes and misses colliding with me by about a millimetre after I slammed on the brakes. Glad I was in the Zed rather than the Fiesta it replaced, as that wouldn't have stopped in time! Was one positive that came out of it though! Got to test the horn for the first time
