Ah that's awkward
-
Yup I'm running rota's 9.5j and 10j. I'm pretty confident I'll have no problems with TC, if I do I'll just turn it off anyway
-
Cheers, just ordered 2x 265/45. I'll be getting the fronts in the next couple of months or so but figured it's worth waiting until they need done as they still have a good bit of tread left. I'll report back once fitted.
-
Just to confirm I'll be running 245/45/18 on the front and 265/45/18 rear. I currently run 225/45 and 245/45 and have no issues with TC, the only change is the width of the tyre.

First off I apologize for starting another thread but I'm in need of a quick answer and I've had no replies for over 24 hours on my other thread. I've read many good reviews on these tyres but I'm a little curious as too why they are so cheap? seems a little to good to be true. The 265 tyres are cheaper than the 245's which makes no sense to me and I just want to make sure I'm buying the right tyres. My current rear tyres have loads of tread left, they are sized at 245/45/18, they are currently stretched onto the 9.5J wheels. I'm planning on buying swapping these out to the front and buying some 265/45/18 tyres for the rear. Can someone just confirm thse are the correct tyres, I'm paranoid about buying the wrong ones http://www.tyreleader.co.uk/car-tyres/goodyear/eagle-f1-asymmetric-2/265-45-zr18-101y-301325

Found these on tyre leader...http://www.tyreleader.co.uk/car-tyres/goodyear/eagle-f1-asymmetric-2/265-40-r18-101y-306515 Read good reviews on here about them but they seem really cheap? The 245s are more expensive then the 265s which seems a bit odd. Will these be ok for the z?

Standard service from this sort of provider. I'm at work and rather busy so resisting a massive rant about big businesses and how god awful they are.
-
I completely agree, it's not about being tight tho, it's about genuinely not having the money available Had to get work done on the civic this month along with a host of other things so pulling out £600 for tyres isn't an option. My mrs is going mental because I'm supposed to be saving for a house deposit and the Z keeps getting in the way. Ah the joys of domesticated life.
-
Ah that make sense. Next choice is what tyres to go with, I don't want to spend much more than £100 a corner if possible. Would love mpss but I can't afford them at such short notice.

Cheers lads, am I right in thinking a higher profile will help reduce the arch gap slightly? The car currently has a gap due to the stretch and I'm hoping to eliminate that with the new tyres.
-
I'm running grids, 9.5 up front and 10 on the rear in an 18. Someone kindly punctured my front tyres last night so I might aswell change all four now, the rears are getting low on tread anyway. The car is lowered on tein springs and my current set up is running a stretch. I'm not a fan of this look and want a tyre that sits nice and flush with the rim. At the same time if I can cover some of the arch gap slightly that would be a bonus. Am I right in thinking something like 245/45 and 265/45 would be suitable? Or should I get wider tyres? Any help appreciated as always.

Thanks Pritchard. My cars always been kept as clean as possible so bumping and damaging the Z is also a bit of a concern, realistically tho it's inevitable if i want to drift in it, I guess that's something I'd just have to get over
-
Ok so since yesterday I've officially got the drifting bug! I drove the "learn to drift" 200sx and actually managed to perform quite well considering it was my first attempt. It's safe to say i want to get into drifting but I'm looking at how realistic this is financially. I didn't get as much time as I'd have liked behind the wheel yesterday so while the learn to drift classes are a decent introduction to drifting I don't feel like it's a great way to become good at it quickly. I know some people on here drift in their own cars and this is something I'd like to do. Are their any particular events or tracks suitable for this? I've had a good search but most links lead to drift classes where you drive certain cars and they have very limited seat time etc. My main concern is how hard on the Z this will be, I simply can't afford forking out for clutches, new tyres and brakes every other month. I should imagine the Z is an expensive car to maintain for drifting but I don't really know what sort of costs to expect? On my way home from teeside yesterday I had a little play in the Z and it feels well balanced for drifting in stock form, I'm running pretty wide wheels, lower springs and light flywheel, so at this stage further modifying doesn't seem necessary. Saying that removing as much weight as possible seems like a good call but the car is still my daily so I don't want to go mental. Will stripping the spare wheel and plastic trim out the back help at all? The 200sx I drove yesterday was stripped bare and felt very light, it made the car great fun to drive and it felt way faster than the Z even tho it was only running about 260bhp. So yea, any advice, tips or help on where I go from here would be great. I'd like to hear from anyone who drifts the 350Z from this forum

Yea it was good once it got going. Not enough time in the car to really get used to things tho. I Spoke too soon about being good at it, I span twice on my last two laps. Left feeling exited but also a bit disapointed in my runs. I plan on doing the full day soon to get more practise.
-
Finally got on track. Turns out I'm pretty good at this drifting lark, holding nice wide drifts through the corners no problem. I guess using a Z for a daily has helped give me an advantage. I'll be doing more of this for sure. Need some events that give more seat time tho.
-
Yea I've just had a bit of bad luck really. Things are running smoother now so at least I'll get to drive. Been sat for nearly 5 hours tho so needless to say I'm a bit fed up. Should be my turn to hop into a car soon.
-
Yup. Could have learnt more in the Z in an empty car park so far haha. Hopefully it gets better...

Sat bored out my mind at teeside waiting for my drift experience day. The guys are having a nightmare, the truck carrying the cars broke down so it's running 3 hours late. The previous session is still running and 2 out of the 4 cars have blown turbos and caught fire. The Marshall has also just stormed over to shout at the organizers for doing donuts in the wrong area. Posting this to pass the time while I wait, not very impressed so far mind. It's been a shambles :/

Interesting thread to me as I've started getting a little bored of the Z myself recently, yes it looks great, goes well and sounds fantastic but I've been out in a load of other performance cars recently and the Z feels like a big, heavy and lazy cruiser compared to most of them. I took a ride out in a slightly modded 300zx running 360bhp and that thing felt an absolute joy to drive, proper pace and sports car excitement. Even my ep3 type R feels way more focused on the twistys, its light, raw and quick. It also costs waaay less to run and to be honest I've found myself walking past the Z and taking the civic most days recently. All things considered there's still definitely something about the Z tho, it has a certain presence on the road and feels a bit special even tho they can be picked up for next to nothing these days.
-
Not necessarily, I've been out in a 330bhp ep3 and it put the power down very well after 1st gear. With the new suspension in the 2015 civic I think it might be possible.
-
TDI north have one already and have posted on Facebook stating something about seeing 450bhp with simple mods and standard internals. If thats true the cost of this car starts to make sense.
-
I've considered one of these for a similar reason, saving for a house and want something decent to get about in that doesn't cost an arm and a leg to run.. The looks have grown on me over the years, they look great with the mugen spoiler too. Pros are the interior and modern refinements but the torsion bar rear suspension is a bit off putting, tho I'm interested it's even noticeable on public roads. I was embarrassed by a slightly modified one not long ago in the Z so real world performance can't be that bad.

I've been smoking the e-cigs since new years eve this year and I've not smoked a cigarette since. Sounds great however I'm now way more addicted to the e-cig than I ever was the real thing, It literally doesn't leave my side. Quitting the e-cig will be the real challenge for me and I intend on doing it soon, absolutely sick of it.

I have a go pro video on my youtube channel somewhere, on a uk backroad. Mine's a coupe tho on stock exhaust. I'll still dig it out later for you if you want.

I think the corsa VXR's look great. As others have said I'd have loved one when I was younger. I'd still drive one now to be fair but I'd never go out and buy one. I Drove a mildly tuned one running about 230bhp and it went really well, the interior was really nice, along with the driving position, the recaro seats were lovely too. I'd not fancy my chances against a tuned one.
