Unbelievable! (shocking service from my local garage).
nowhereboy replied to nowhereboy's topic in 350Z General
So you were asking for the wrong size tyres to be put on the front? Nope. The tyres on the car were stretched originally so running 245 on a 10j at the rear. I'd asked them to put the 245 up front and my new 265 on the rear. -

Never again will I use a small local garage that I don't have any experience with. I just needed the job doing quick and figured it's only a set of tyres "what could possibly go wrong". Everything, apparently. Oh they also added 8 miles onto the car, 8 miles for what exactly? Not happy at all. -
I've trained off and on for a few years. Was always a complete weed when growing up (9 stone through most of my twenty's), until few year ago I got sick of being weedy and started lifting weights and bulked up, I got up to about 12 stone and was about 13% body fat within a year. I was surprised my body responded very well to training but I lost interest and after a year of not training I dropped to about 10.5 stone but ended up being "skinny fat", I still looked better than what i did originally tho, I'd rather a bit of shape and a belly than just being skin and bones Currently back in the game and have been training for about 4 months, haven't been "bulking" or "cutting" this time, just eating clean, lifting heavy and cutting out the booze/takeaways. I'm now about 11 stone and have shifted the beer gut and put on some muscle. Aim to sort the diet out properly next month and start putting some weight on again.

I'd agree had it not been for the fact I specifically told the dude the wheels are staggered and wider at the back. He actually asked if he could just put the whole wheel on the front and I told him "no". I took him out to the car before leaving it and showed him exactly what to do, even gave my number for if they got stuck. Either way, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now and hopefully they correct it with no fuss for me. -

Yea dude, that's my concern. Some poor sap was having his engine rebuilt when i was there last. Frightening really. -
I don't know how it's took me so long to notice this but I'm in disbelief about what I've found. When I took my car in for the rear tyres I explained in depth what needed done. (rear tyres put onto front wheels and new tyres onto rear wheels). The garage have literally just unbolted my rear wheels and put them on the front, then fitted the new tyres to the front wheels and put them on the back. So thats right, I've currently got a 10j rim on the front and 9j on the rear! Both with the wrong size tyre for the wheels To top if off i was charged for the fitting of 4 tyres! They clearly didn't notice the different wheel sizes and thought they could save time and rip me off by removing the rear wheels and sticking them on the front. To say I'm annoyed is an understatement, I've spoke to the garage who said "oh thats not good" and they asked me to bring the car in tomorrow so they can put it right. I'm tempted to just ask for my money back so i can take it to someone I can trust. i mean, that's a pretty massive **** up isn't it I've since learnt the garage have the nickname "auto f*ck" instead of "autofix". never again.

Bit of a long shot but does anyone have one of these? Preferably in silver. As per my post in general mine is starting to rust and it looks like replacing it is my best option. Cash waiting, based in newcastle. Edit - for a 350Z obviously.
-
Ah scrap that, you're miles away from me haha! thanks for the info tho fella.
-
That's great! Where are you based? I don't mind traveling but within reason of course
-
Which option would you recommend? I don't fancy paying £300 for it to come back again a year down the line. How much would you estimate it to fit and paint a whole new panel? I've been thinking about getting a new front bumper in the near future so I guess I could get the whole lot done at the same time. Roughly what would you charge to fit the panel/bumper and get it resprayed? Should this option stop the rot from setting in again in future?

Been watching some youtube videos and reading up on this and it looks like it may be possible to attempt to fix the rust bubbles myself? From what I gather it's just a case of sanding down the affected area, priming and painting. Whats the likelihood of someone with no experience being able to pull off a job like this? On the other hand, could anyone estimate what it would cost to get it done professionally? Alternatively I could just buy a new panel but this seems quite extreme... http://www.autocrashparts.co.uk/nissan-350z-03-front-wing-rhs-front.html#.VdrvYPnF_0w Well priced tho.

Had a good drive into work this morning, much more grip than the kuhmos I used previously. Interesting as I only paid 75 quid a corner
-
Awesome. Haven't had a chance for a drive out on them yet but I'll be taking the scenic route home from work tomorrow.

So here's the finished result, I've opted for 45 profile despite most peoples opinions of them I actually really like them, looks meaty.

Got round to getting some pictures today....As I said the arches aren't too bad but the side panel is what I'm more concerned about. The panel feels ok behind where the bubbles are so I assume it's just surface? Still, on the whole she looks pretty clean for a 11 year old car

Not having much luck these last couple of weeks! Tyres have been vandalised, My key fob has stopped working and on the drive home from work my dashboard and gauge lights just went off. Everything on the dash still works along with the pods, could this be a simple fuse issue? As for the key fob it just decided it would no longer open or lock the doors this morning. Setting the alarm off to get in and out the car is not a good look lol! Tried a new battery to no avail, does something need reset? All fun and games in the land of Z for me at the minute

Mines an 04 plate with 78k on the clock. The rust seems to have appeared from nowhere! Had a further inspection tonight and it's really not bad at all. I'll try the methods recommended in here and hopefully that will keep it at bay.
-
it won't ruin my enjoyment but it's gonna get on my nerves now that I know it's there. Plus I'm paranoid about it getting worse and becoming obvious, I've spent way to much £££ on it to be driving around with rust visible. I'll report back with some pictures tomorrow.
-
Sounds good for now, I guess I'll just do that and keep an eye on it. I'm going to get some pictures of the paint bubbling on the side panel to get peoples opinions. It's not even bubbles as such, it's a slightly raised bit of paint work just on the edge as it meets the arch. Worst case scenario the whole panel can be bought for less than £150 anyway.
-
I was hoping for reassurance, I don't want to sell it! Surely light rust under the arches can be fixed easily enough? It's only on the bit that would be rolled for "stance" etc as far as i can see.

So last weekend someone decided to put nails in my front tyres and while the wheel was off to put the spare on I noticed some small patches rust for the first time on the wheel arch. I've since had a proper good look around the car and come to find a few small patches here and there. There's small dots of rust on one of the rear arches and both the front arches, slightly more concerning is a small bit of paint bubble on the front quarter panel where the arch meets it. It's quite minor at the minute and you'd really have to be looking to find it but I'm still concerned. I assume this is a pretty common thing for a 10+ old year nissan but I'm not sure what to do about it. Once the paint has bubbled is it time for a whole new panel or can it be fixed? Is it even worth doing if i only plan on keeping the car for another couple of years? I'm a bit of a clean freak and like to keep my motors in top notch condition so it's likely that this will bug me and I'll end up getting it sorted anyway. Anyone else have similar problems and what have you done about it? I've no idea about the cost to get this kind of thing sorted. I'll get some pictures up soon and I'm probably overreacting but I'd like other peoples opinions.

Love those headlights. Where can I buy these? -
I don't really agree with the misconception that all the people misbehaving are young lads in corsas etc. Yes due to their young age/lack of skill/over enthusiasm they tend to have the most accidents and get caught out more often but they aren't the only "enthusiasts" up to no good. My local meet has a very wide range of people and vehicles attending and it's heaving every Sunday night. I ended up going for a late night drive in a convoy with a 600bhp R35 GTR, a 400bhp 300ZX and two high power evo's. All driven by working professionals and lets just say it was interesting.

I found that I was using the E-cig more often than I used to smoke cigarettes when I was smoking but I guess that was down to the ease of use. Eg: You can just pick an E-cig up & take a few puffs whenever you like, whereas once a cigarette is lit you only have a short period to smoke it before it burns away. The thing that started pi**ing me off about the E-cig/vaping was refilling my clearomizer with E-liquid, constantly charging my battery every day and also regularly having to go to the E-cig shop to buy more E-liquids/coils. Just got to the stage were I thought f**k this. Making some big changes with selling my Zed & getting a new house with the fiancee so the E-cigs just had to go. A lot easier to quit these things if you really want to & can see the benefits in doing so. Thank you Andy. Been almost two weeks now since I last used my E-cig and probably 3 weeks odd since I had a proper hit of nicotine. I do miss smoking (E-cigs & cigarettes) but this is a healthier life style & more financially beneficial to me. Hopefully in time I'll forget about smoking/vaping altogether but I am finding it difficult at times although it easier than it was initially obviously. I want to quit for the similar reasons, I'm sick of constantly charging the bloody thing and when I forget to charge it I'll come into work without it and be a nervous wreck until it's charged again. Then there's the constant driving to the garage to buy liquids and topping the thing up, buying new coils etc and to top it off I find the whole thing unsatisfying, I enjoy vaping but it's bitter sweet, It doesn't quite hit the spot and some nights I find myself resembling a crack head desperately hitting it again and again trying to find some sort of satisfaction I had no problem coming off the cigarettes but I'm really not looking forward to stopping these. I'll probably wait until new year and do it then.
