  1. That is rather like saying the telegraph is still the best means of communication......honestly the MPSS are night and day compared to the 'Stones' on the Zeds. Guess my driving stye is not extreme enough to notice the difference - I'm mainly a communter/sunday driver in the Zed
  2. Same here - scuffed all 4 within a week of ownership Whos gonna know?
  3. Why not Bridgestones all round? All I've ever used on my 12yo Zed
  4. Same here - bought from new and now has 114k miles with original clutch. As has been said before - servicing is everything
  5. I too went promenading in the Zed on the weekend in South Manchester - along with the Maseratis, Ferraris, Lamborghinis etc. I consider myself at the lower end in the class of super cars - but a super car nevertheless
  6. I still love the fact that after I've parked up and walked away I'll still look back and think "yeah - that's one helluva car"
  7. Sorry to hear this. And that you now have to deal with the insurance company. - its adding insult to injury. Best of luck
  8. Gut wrenching stuff - such a beautiful Zed
  9. Keep it. I bought my Zed new in 2004 and its still going strong at 113k
  10. I'm going through an insurance claim on the Zed at the moment and - long story short - the 3rd party is giving a different account of the collision to mine. After reading around the web, this sadly seems to be not unusual and unfortunately in my case there were no witnesses, CCTV or dashcams, so its very much their word against mine. Accordingly my insurer has said the most likely outcome is a 50/50 split liability. One line of enquiry I'm going to try to get my insurers to look at is to compare the damage of both cars (I've provided detailed images), as I believe that the damage couldn't possibly be caused by their version of events. Is this worth pursuing? Has anyone done this? Or is a 50/50 split the best outcome? Thanks in advance for any advice offered or experience shared. TT
  11. I'm going to jump on the cynical bandwagon... Always wary of 'mot deals' - would rather pay full price and know that they'll go round it truthfully rather than charge £20 for an mot and then find things wrong to fail it on. my gf was once charged £20 to set the headlight aim?! used to work in a garage when I was a student and if aim was out it was just adjusted there and then FOC. Agree with this - rather pay more for peace of mind with reputable/regular tester than some low price enticement special offer. Its checking the roadworthyness/safety of your car FFS
  12. I had just this in my first few months of Zed onwership. Know this - the Zed is a brute. It may look smooth and refined on the outside - but given the chance to mis-behave it will glady shake its tail when the opportunity arises. Learned this early on when I pulled out of a T-junction on a rainy day after seeing no-one in either direction and decided to floor it to see what happened. All I can say is that since then, I respect the power of the Zed,
  13. Like the colour as it is - stunning Zed
  14. Cool! I'd sure be interested in how long you've had it and any issues you may have come across. Thanks, TT
  15. http://www.amazon.co...NMKFF5ET0&psc=1 I did consider the Transcend model - but I was after something a bit more discrete and after you include the mounting for the Transcend it does become a big piece of furniture on the windscreen. After all my research I'm currently considering this - Blackvue DR650GW-2CH http://www.amazon.co...2ch dr650gw-2ch Does anyone have experience with BlackVue dash cams?
  16. Hi Folks, Can you help? I've been looking for a dash cam after a recent incident where my body work was damaged by a 3rd party while I was stationary; I'd pulled over to let them pass in a narrow country lane and they scraped their car against mine as they were passing. For the insurance claim they are claiming that I clipped them as I came around a corner. Very irritating - but a dash cam would have been useful here as it would have removed all doubt. I've been looking at various brands - but viewing so many reviews (I'm talking Amazon mostly - plus a few online sellers) leaves me with the impression that the devices reviewed stop working after a year or so. Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place for recommendations So my question is - can anyone recommend a reliable dash cam that they've been using for more than a year? I'm initally looking for a foward facing 1080p camera with a view to adding a rear view camera later. Thanks for any help, TT
  17. Many years ago a friend of mine who knew far more than about cars than I ever will told me 'Never skimp on tyres - it's the most important safety feature on a car'. I still think that's good advice and ... urm... "£80odd a corner" isn't I know that's not the advice you're giving - but seriously, get the best you can afford rather than compromising on price if you can - could save your life.
  18. 'Gulp' anything specific I should look out for when buying?? I'm just thinking of the wear/tear items I've replaced over the years (always standard parts from a Nissan dealer though) New exhaust after 80K - £800 New window electric motors after 90-100K (common problem apparently) - £300 per door New set of tyres every 25-30K - always used Bridgestones, used to be £800 for a set, last set was £600. W-subframe after 90k - £250 Don't be put off by these - the sting of occasionally having to layout a bit of money to keep the Zed on the road soon passes when you're
  19. I did the same thing - wanted to own a proper sports car before I'm 40 - and settled on the Zed. Twelve years later, I have the same original Zed and am still enjoying it immensley. Good choice But be prepared - it ain't cheap to maintain TT.
  20. Rcently had to change all four tyres - still went for Bridgestones (because thats what I'm used to) and it was only £600 when I was expecting £800. Salesman tried to push me towards Kuhmo (later explained to me by a learned friend as 'cheap Koeran tyres') as his 'boss has them on his BMW X5 and previosuly his Audi'.
  21. Wonderful! Really enjoyed your photos - this is just the sort of thing I'm hoping to be doing on Xmas day when the roads are empty and the weather is good
  22. Lockwood and Greenwood are in Ashton-U-Lyne (Audenshaw) - but this is East of Manchester City center- not South. Still, in my area and good to know - thanks Do they do courtesy cars when you drop your Zed off with them?
  23. Keep the oil topped up and the wheels clean. Congratulations
  24. Your post has just reminded me of how how elated I was when I passed my driving test - congratulations
