  1. F1 is becoming about tyres. It's ruining the sport!
  2. I spent £300 on cleaning products (granted £150 of that was on a pressure washer), with the intent on giving my car the full treatment. However.... it's rained all weekend. Ah well, just another 6 weeks until I am back in Scotland to try again.
  3. Just installed one of these. I was somebody whom doesn't want to change the look of the car all that much nor wants something that sounds over the top or droney on a long drive. Sound wise, it's a subtle but very noticable difference, and sounds like what, IMO, the car should of done direct from the factory. It's not a loud roar, indeed the volume increase is only slight perhaps 10-20%, but it offers a deeper note that lets you know this isn't a large family saloon, but a proper sports car. Looks wise, I opted for rolled stainless steel tips, and tbh, you'd need to have a keen eye to notice that they were much different from the original tips. They perhaps stick out 10mm further than the originals, but other than that, look very similar. To somebody who knew a bit about cars, but didn't know much about Z cars, I would say they could easily be fooled into thinking that was the original exhaust for the car. Overall delighted with the results of this. Met the requirements I had for the exhaust, and I'd highly recommend this system for somebody looking for a more 'mature' system, that doesn't draw attention yet makes the car sound what it should of sounded like when it rolled off the production line. Was intending to take some better pictures with the DSLR but the weather has been terrible this weekend, so phone photos suffice.
  4. To be fair it is Popty Microdon. Popty ping translates as Ping Oven IIRC.
  5. Popty Ping. I live in the heart of Welsh speaking country, however I'm Scottish and speak not a word (apart from the odd insult).
  6. Can never win at karting. Always do ok, but I'm 16st, so got such a weight disadvantage over guys at 10-11-12st. Presuming equal ability, I'm maybe more than a second a lap down before I start. Still it is great fun, and more to it than winning (although I get frustrated as I'm competitive as ****). Definitely a sport for slighter guys to excel at though.
  7. That payscale site shows my job earning around 1/3rd of what is actually the norm.
  8. Oh it's not new. Mine stopped after I had did a few hundred miles in it, but then it had only did 6 miles when I collected it. I'd say it shouldn't be smelling after 32k miles, no.
  9. The gears are quite plonky at first, you get used to them, and synchrorev makes them seamless. You will get a burning smell for the first few hundred miles, mine had this also, smells like clutch/brake dust. I expect it is just the newness.
  10. I live in Blaenau Ffestiniog.... although I am from Scotland.
  11. As a Scotsman, owning a business, trading in Scotland, England and Wales..... Independence would be a disaster for me. I would move my business out of Scotland, due to it being easier to operate between England and Wales. Not that I get a vote on my countries future (as I am committed via work to being in Wales for the next couple of years), despite paying all my tax to a Scottish tax office.... something I am quite miffed about!
  12. I work in N.Wales (although I am Scottish), but I will almost certainly be working the Saturday. Would it be possible to join you on the Sunday? I currently live in Blaenau Ffestiniog (about 10 miles from Betws y Coed), I think there is a fair chance you will be driving right past my house (assuming the B4391 is on the cards for the drive)
  13. Nice one, Understood....There is a slight styling change coming soon though i think! Indeed, probably part of the reason they are doing the deals they are on the GT Editions. I got mine new for £26k or there abouts. Also I pay something like £290 for my insurance. My previous car (Auris T180) was almost double, which I cannot understand.
  14. That's the same car as me, it's still the older shape.
  15. Regardless, it's not as if she made her fortune elsewhere, squandered it, and came back here to scrounge off the state. She went out there when the country was a British colony, lived there most of her life and probably would of stayed there the rest of her life, had Mugabe not been in power. She's had any wealth and entitlements she's had stripped, through a tyrannical government, not through her own doing. What are the alternatives, she stays there a pauper and is likely killed, or comes here to no entitlements and lives penniless and homeless, unless she gets a job, which being in her 80's isn't really likely. It's an exceptional circumstance, and she should be entitled help.
  16. I'm perhaps a little different from most Z owners as I'm using the 370Z as a 20k miles a year car. As everyone, I'm a little disappointed with the 370Z exhaust note, it just doesn't sound special at all when you start it up. So I'm after something that give the exhaust a bit of throat, but, I don't want something that causes a drone for the longer mileage I am doing. I actually do like the comfort and relative silence of the car cruising at 75mph down the motorway. It had been suggested I get a backbox only, but I'm open to any recommendations for a quieter exhaust that will just give the car a more special sound.
  17. What Vettel did today was a cheap shot and doesn't do much for his popularity. Great driver (although I don't think he's as good as his stats suggest), but comes across as a brat. For a guy that is actually quite funny and likable when interviewed away from a Grand Prix track, there is something far wrong when he is getting booed all the time. Vettel benefited massively from the final pit stops when Red Bull brought him in before Webber to cover the Mercedes. If Webber came in first he'd in all likelihood of came out 7-8 seconds ahead of Vettel, and went on to win the race on merit. However Red Bull (correctly) made the call to bring Seb in first, gaining him 4 secs on Webber, but ensuring the Mercs were never going to be a factor. What Vettel did next was disrespectful and cheap. He's stole that win today passing a guy who wasn't expecting to be racing nor had a car tuned to full spec, and a guy he only caught up with due to a team decision on pit stops. It's a completely different situation from Hamilton/Rosberg, Hamilton found himself in that predicament due to being aggressive early on, and a strategy that seen him underfueled. Harsh on Rosberg but fair play to Mercedes, and Hamilton how they handled it.
  18. I'm involved in radiological protection, which is an arm of health and safety.
  19. I bought mine as an every day car. I test drove a 350Z a few years ago, and didn't really like it. Felt the car was too rough around the edges to use everyday, and the interior is just horrid (major part of the reason I didn't buy the car a few years ago) The 370Z is a lot more refined, although still not perfect, but the interior is decent. Test drive though and form your own opinions.
  20. Plus Webber and Vettel have different driving styles. The car is designed and set up with Vettels style in mind, as most teams will do with their #1 driver. Also Webber whilst a good driver, and likeable chap, it's fair to say that he is probably not one of the top 6 drivers on the grid.
  21. £25K. With the facelift model there are some excellent deals on 370Z's just now if you haggle a bit. I got my GT Edition for £27k new. The Z4's alright, but it's not designed to be the same type of car as the 370Z, although technically in the same class. The 20i will be a disappointment, the 28i better.
  22. He's a very very consistent driver, however I find it hard to pick many Grand Prix whereby you can say he had a truly outstanding drives in his career. I just find that wrong for a triple World Champion.
  23. Am I the only person that thinks whilst Vettel is good, his ability is nowhere near the level his stats (relative to his rivals) over the last 3 seasons would suggest?
  24. How much value is an extra 2500 miles going to lose the Z car? Personally I think the Z would easily be the best option to take.
  25. I recently bought a Z GT Edition, and being self employed I couldn't get a bank loan at a decent APR as I don't have 2yrs worth of audited accounts yet. However buying the car new, at Nissans 6.9%, coupled with £8k off the list price, made buying new only slightly more expensive to that of buying a £20k second hand car, with the extended warranty package added on, on APR of say 14%. This is a really good point. There are some good deals to be had if you are a cash buyer and can haggle a bit Well I had looked at a 2yr old Black Edition firstly, the car was priced at £19,500, by the time you buy warranty, servicing, road tax, it's £21,000. The cheapest I could of got this car on finance for was 13% apr IIRC. I got my GT edition, new, for £27,000 @ 6.9%apr Putting in the same deposit, the monthly difference in finance PCP payments really is not a great a deal.
