  1. My aircon is almost never off. Shouldn't need recharging after 14k. Glad to know it's a known issue, honestly never had a car that gathers condensation like the Z. Above the instrument dials on the windscreen is where it's worst. As said it's went beyond mist and is actual water droplets
  2. My Z constantly gets internal condensation. Tried everything to stop it. Leaving the windows open on dry days, keeping it in a garage with windows open over night.... but still constant condensation whenever it is parked up for a while. I come back to the car and there are actual drops of water on the inside of the windscreen, as well as mist on all windows. There is no obvious dampness or leaks in the car. Is this a common trait with Z's? Does anyone have any idea how to stop it? I'm getting fed up having to wait 5 minutes for my windows to demist, and the droplets to evaporate every time I start her after she's been stting for a few hours. Honestly, I've never had a car like this for condensation build up.
  3. I am Scottish and own a small business trading in Scotland, Wales and England. I see no advantage at all (to me) to Scottish independence. That coupled to Scotland being destined to alternate between Labour and SNP governments, makes it a big no for me. Not that I get a vote anyway, as despite having lived in Scotland for 29 of my 31yrs (and intend to return in 2015/16), own a couple of flats in Scotland, own a business registered and paying tax in Scotland, and pay my own tax in Scotland.... I live in Wales as my contract requires me to.... and have no vote.
  4. I like the zetec. Learned to drive with them, and learned about cars/engines with them too. The 1.25 isn't too slow either for a small engined runabout
  5. It's a terrible sound. You roll up in your shiny sports car, step out the thing and get a crrrreeeeeaaaaaaak. It's not exactly smooth.
  6. What is the aircon like on the 1.0 Micra? Does it pack much punch? The 40^ Heat of the deserts s bearable, it's the humidity (but cooler temperatures) that hurt you.
  7. Cars only done 14k, 80% of which has been motorway running. Be pretty disappointed to be having bush issues.
  8. Na. Suspension started creaking on access/egress from the car a few month back. Hand brake light has only started happening since I came home from working abroad. Car had been used sparsely during that time.
  9. Cars got a couple of issues, will be getting the dealer to look at them when I go back home. Just wondering if these are known about 1) Washer fluid. I can find no evidence of a leak, but its needing filled up every 4-7 days. It used to last a month or so. 2) Hand brake light. Keeps flashing on under hard acceleration. 3) Offside rear suspension. Has started becoming very creaky.
  10. No need for a 4x4. Too easy. If something is going to break on a car, the Mongol Rally will do it. Being dragged across rivers, dust storms, potholes size of kids paddling pools, well about 2000mls of driving over dirt tracks. The micra is interesting me. How good are the 1.0 and 1.2 engines on them? When I did it in the Clio, electronics were a nightmare. Although everything else did ok (bar a blown shock and a few punctures).
  11. I am doing the Mongol Rally next year. I have already did it in 2012 (in a Clio 1.2), but this time I am taking a more challenging route through Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgistan, Kazakhstan... and driving back. Basically, it isn't a race, it's just a jaunt to Ulaan Baatar in Mongolia, then back again. The car has to be under a 1.2 engine (although you can go a tiny bit bigger), and can be any age. Ideally the spirit of the rally suggests you shouldn't be looking to spend too much over £500 on a car, and certainly under £1000. So I am after some idea's of something, ideally things you've experience. What requirements I would like Air Conditioning Proven not to have suspension/bushes problems Lightweight Reliable Engine Easy to fix The rear seats are getting ripped out, so space isn't a huge issue. My previous experience of doing the rally, suggests it is much better to travel light.
  12. Apologies guys, I've got discs here. I took a job out in S.Africa for a couple of months there without sending them to the next guy. So been away for a while. Who should these be sent to now?
  13. The 370Z will get over 30mpg on a motorway run. It really is not that bad when driven sensibly given that it is a 3.7L sports car. I drove it up and down from Wales to Scotland regularly with work, and my fuel costs didn't rise all that drastically over my previous sporty diesel hatch. As for the 370Z, if you don't like the 350Z at all, then you won't like the 370Z. If you like the 350Z, but hate it's rough edges, you will like the 370Z. The 370Z improves on the bits the 350Z was lacking in, but it's still a car with flaws, and definitely shares the same DNA and characteristics of the 350Z, albeit a bit more refined, grown up and better built than its predecessor. As often said, it's an evolution, not a revolution of the 350.
  14. Great achievement, but people do forget the Torro Rosso was a the best car that weekend. It's forgotten that Sebastian Bourdais, qualified the sister car in third, but had to start from the pits due to a problem. So whilst it's a brilliant achievement, first race win, and all.... It wasn't as if he took a crap car and won it doing something unbelievable.
  15. I work in radiation protection engineering. If I was working at Fukushima, I would be one of the guys carrying out surveys and monitoring the radiation levels. I'm not going to pretend I'm an expert on the state of affairs at Fukushima, as I really am not. However, reading industry related reports, there is nothing to make me think this currently poses any significant risk to local human health so long as control measures continue to be implemented. Of course, there is still a risk to human health in the local area, however any radioactivity escaping is doing so into the Pacific. There is a lot of Ocean to dilute any radioactive material into, to the point it would be very hard to trace. Take from that what you will. I'm qualified and experienced in a directly related field to what has happened to over there...... I'm not massively worried that we are all going to die.
  16. One thing I'm not sure I agree with the sentiment of, is don't have kids unless you can afford them. Now, I understand their are some people who basically become a production line for making babies and claiming increased benefits, this is a different kettle of fish all together, but..... In the UK these days, average Joe is in his mid/late 30's before he is reasonably well established and in a position to afford kids. Problem there is obvious, whilst average Joe maybe has another 30-35yrs of working life left, mid/late 30's is nearing the end of the being able to have kids phase of life. So whilst in Average Joe/Jane maybe fairly affluent by the they are 45, they are too old to realistically (and safely) conceive. The biological clock and being financially established don't go hand in hand for a very large chunk of the populous.
  17. I had a good job up until 2008 when the recession hit, and I ended up on the dole. I don't know what was the worse experience. Living on £60 a week, feeling utterly useless and patronised by the job centres. In my working life up until 2008, I had contributed an above average amount to the coffers via tax and NI, and had went the previous 6yrs in work.... I didn't want treated like a child because I hadn't filled out my job log, or hadn't been that arsed buying papers that had no jobs in them I had any realistic chance of getting. or One of the few minimum wage jobs I took on. Where you feel utterly worthless, and at the end of it still don't have a pot to **** in. Made to feel low by supervisors, who tended to be unskilled little Hitlers, who were too stupid to realise they were also **** all and had been given a bit of power by brown nosing somebody important. Looked down on by the general public.... and embarrassed to be seen doing a @*!# job by people you know. Yeah 2008-2010... not good years. Both scenarios destroyed the self esteem. As for the Tory policy. Sounds great in theory, in practice it will be the genuine ones who suffer as the dodgers get round it (and be allowed to).
  18. Just stick at it, it goes eventually. Bit disappointed with the updated maps though, still missing a few new roads, but heh ho. (btw my username was Badgeronimous)
  19. Company I work for usually buys Teng Tools. I have always found them to be decent enough. Can't say I've ever had any problems with them.
  20. I've recieved and will pass on when I get it working. Having issues with disc 2. Now on the 6th attempt
  21. How much would you guys estimate this is going to cost to repair correctly on a Storm White GT Edition? The bumper is scraped, cracked and slightly distorted (crack has got a little worse from the original pic, you can see daylight through it now, a small bit of the bumper has came away leaving a tiny hole around the size of a pepper corn), and there is a white scuff on the alloy wheel too. Only one corner affected. I'm thinking and budgeting around £500ish, but I've never had to do a repair not through the insurance, or the other party paying.
  22. That's what I figured. It's frustrating on my part, as I know full well it was quite likely the shop CCTV caught it given where I was parked. Buying a house, and needing 4 new tyres + brakes, I can't really afford to get it fixed either for the next couple of months. Well I can, but it would leave me a bit short should I need money quickly.
  23. That has been a full month since the incident and I've been holding off getting it repaired in the hope they'd catch whoever did it. A letter of complaint is going in against the police, as despite chasing this up, and despite there being a strong chance the incident has been caught on CCTV, they have did not a jot to investigate my complaint. It's ok, I'm easy with a few hundred quids worth of damage to my car, I'll happily fork out. If I went and caused a few hundred quids worth of damage, drawing a big **** and balls on their police station, I'm sure they'd at least investigate, review the CCTV and probably catch me. In all honesty though, what is the likely outcome of complaining to the police, other than a long drawn out procedure with nothing but a token sorry at the end of it.
  24. Seen a white one parked just down the road from me. That's now 2 I've seen in 12mths!
