  1. There is a 60yr old woman in my town that has a car that looks very similar to mine (not a GT edition though)..... She bought it a fair bit after me. Other than that I think I've seen 2 other ones in my 13mths of Z ownership.
  2. I've an invidia gemini on the car. There is no drone at speed. Car sounds almost the same in the cabin as the OEM, unless the foot is down.

As above but I can't vouch for the fuel economy improving even if it's slight. Because my right foot loves the much improved sound it make when pressing on the go pedal Highly recommend the typhoon kits though other makes are available. But I'm very happy with the purchase. I do quite a bit of distance travel, and I always do it with the cruise control set to 77mph, using my GPS. Usually the run I do averages around 28-29, but I was over 30 last time I did it. However this is negated by the B Road running, which has certainly seen a drop in fuel economy for the exact same reasons lol.

I wouldn't say so no. I find it more in the mid revs and over taking range. However it is only a very slight increase, that admittedly could be a placebo effect with the sound increase.

I've had this in for 10 days now. Key points. Build quality of the kit is excellent Look of the kit is excellent Very easy to fit, no hassle at all with anything, everything just clips/bolts/slots straight in. Some minor cutting of the rubber trim required, but very easy. Kit sounds pretty much like OEM during regular driving - no induction drone However, let the right foot go and the sound in the cockpit is very nice. The sound really comes alive after 5k revs. Throttle response has slightly improved Fuel economy has slightly improved In all, you probably can do the same improvements for well under the £350 this kit costs but... it is a £35k car, the kit is built for the car, and when installed looks like the job has been done properly. It's hassle free, instructions are perfectly clear and even a novice could have this fitted in 90 minutes.

Well mate, I'm off for the next 3 weeks.
  8. As said before, hills make a difference. Driving on the flatter ground in France, or the Midlands..... +30mpg on a long run is easy.
  9. I had a transmission whine that came off my first gear box. Best way to describe it, is it sounded like an old LW radio, that was slightly out of tune. I don't have this transmission whine on my new gearbox.

Installed it today. The noise it very smile inducing at higher revs, but barely noticable low down - exactly as wanted. Throttle seems slightly more responsive, as you'd expect. Any power recovered from this is barely noticable.
  11. Not recommended me anything. I've did 100 miles in the car now, and got used to the gearbox a bit. It still feels very stiff though.
  12. Got the car back. After 6wks chugging around in cars with 60bhp, I may as well be driving a Veyron for the difference I feel! Gearbox and gear shifts are much, much smoother.... but the gear stick is so stiff. Like excessively stiff imo. It feels completely different to what it was before, where it was heavy and clunky. Maybe just needs a few hundred miles to loosen off.
  13. From taking another week, to now being ready. Time to drive the 1.0 Micra 350 miles home and collect it
  14. Well I work on a nuclear power station so not allowed a phone on site, I need to go out to the car to make calls, and that is a 5 minute walk - so it's sufficient demotivation to not keep well on top of it. I do appreciate the 370Z is a fairly rare car, and big expensive parts like gearboxes maybe are not instantly available. I'm happy to accept that a big repair like this may take 2-3wks, I think everyone on the forum would agree there. The car went to the Garage on the 15th of Feb, the part AFAIK arrived there around the 21st, possibly the Monday or Tuesday after... What the hell has happened since then? That has been 4wks. Don't get me wrong, I work in Wales and only come home once a fortnight, so I did tell them there was no rush as I won't be home for 2wks anyway (although that was 4wks ago). I was told 2.5wks ago the car was ready for road testing by the technician, and it's still not ready, indeed the other day I was told the Gearbox was back out the car. So yeah, alarm bells are ringing big time, and being told the technician who deals with it, no longer works there... who has worked on my car? I'm just arghh. I'm hopeless with these situations as I hate hassle, work 12hr shifts, and really do not have the time to deal with it.
  15. Being told at least another week now.... apparently the technician that deals with these issues has now left the company. It's turned into a saga! 6wks to replace a gearbox. In all honesty, am I likely to get given a free service or something by the way of recompense? I've never been in a situation like this, so not exactly sure of my rights or what I can and can't claim. I don't want to be 'that guy' that annoyingly complains about things, and demands unrealistic things, but I feel treated pretty shabby... which after buying new the very top spec 370Z available at the time, I feel let down.
  16. Bluetooth hands free, is one of the most useful inventions of the last 20yrs. I say that as somebody who is behind the wheel a lot, and whom's job and hobby (chairman of a 36 team amateur football league) entails having to speak regularly to people. Personally I would only take important calls whilst driving about busy roads, but then I would not really talk to passengers or anything in those situations. However, I don't find talking on the phone particularly distracting when doing regular driving.

See I found the opposite on both times I bought K&N kits for previous cars (S3 & Cav SRi). I've ordered one of these typhoon kits. I do good mileage, I'll do a review after a few weeks.

Are they worth the money? These kits seem available from not much over 300 quid. Usually I've found with past cars putting a K&N kit, whilst it makes little performance difference, it does make the throttle a bit more responsive.
  19. Macklins is a HPC. Which is why I'm questioning why it has taken so long!
  20. Just too far away when I only get a couple of days off a fortnight. With longer notice I could of planned going to Nobles. As it was, I didn't have half a day spare. Macklins is just 15 mins up the road. Quite concerning that I was told the car was ready to be test driven last week, but today the gearbox is back out of it.
  21. Got a phone call today... going to be another week.... 5.5wks to fit a gearbox.
  22. Just shows it's not what you drive, it's how you drive it. 1.0 Micra courtesy car economy on a 350 mile run at motorway speed. Only slightly better than the Z at the same speeds.
  23. They at least have now given me a courtesy car. Car now won't be ready until the end of next week (quite how it went from being ready on Friday on Wednesday, to needing almost a full week more by Friday... who knows) A little disappointed that the courtesy car costs less new (£8999 OTR) than the supposed cost of this repair (£9500), but I won't complain too much. However I'm looking forward to driving the 1.0 Micra 900 miles this week, and it is a lot better than the 10yr old Corsa automatic.
