  1. Yeah I know, but these are roads I know well, travelling almost daily for years, and have never known there to be a mobile camera on.
  2. My system keeps telling me there are cameras in places I've never known there to be one.
  3. I'm assuming you are buying second hand, and the fact you are considering a Z would again suggest you at least have a reasonable income, and in all likelihood a reasonable credit history. Basically car finance from a dealer for a second hand car is going to be around 12-15%. A bank loan, depending on you credit score and risk, could be in the 5-7% region. It is a no brainer as to what is the better option! You may even be able to waggle a better deal as you are buying the car cash. I recently bought a Z GT Edition, and being self employed I couldn't get a bank loan at a decent APR as I don't have 2yrs worth of audited accounts yet. However buying the car new, at Nissans 6.9%, coupled with £8k off the list price, made buying new only slightly more expensive to that of buying a £20k second hand car, with the extended warranty package added on, on APR of say 14%. Also if you are from Northern Ireland, I'd recommend Macklins in Glasgow, which is surely closer to you and an excellent dealership.
  4. 4th July leave the UK for 13 days. My last attempt at doing the Stelvio seen me go the wrong way, end up going up the Umbrail pass, then watch as the little clio started to overheat and the throttle stuck closed (which I suppose is better than the throttle sticking open) What I get for attempting it in an overloaded 1.2 I suppose
  5. As the title alludes to, I have decided to take the Z and go on a 13 day driving holiday to the Alps in the summer. In order to satisfy the Mrs, We're taking in Grenoble, Milan, Lake Como then onto Munich, spending a couple of days in each location. So I'm looking for advice on where to visit from a driving perspective. Now obviously the Stelvio Pass is on the list, as my last attempt at doing it (during the Mongol Rally) ended in abject failure as the small loaded car simply couldn't cope with the climb. However, there must also be some awesome driving roads/sights to see in the region. Any advice, tips, past experience welcome. cheers
  6. Well I've loved the first 500 miles in the car, and I haven't even had a chance to drive it properly yet. Just a question, because I am unsure if this is a fault. When you stop the car, floor it, and go for launch, is their any reason why sometimes the clutch doesn't release fully, and stay semi down? Unsure if it's some sort of launch control system on the car, as it fully releases when the revs come down.... or a problem with the clutch. I have been getting a burney smell, although I think it maybe because it was new. Couple of points 1) I'm suprised you are giving that many beans with just 500 miles done. 2) I experienced that once when I had done some 2.5k miles and I have wondered whether it is an inbuilt restriction in the ECU. The 370 does not have a launch control in fact the 'issue' may be there to stop precisely that - at least for a time - perhaps until to the 1st service when the ECU gets updated? On the occasion it happened to me was on a Wales drive when I was stupid enough to try and leave a nice '11' upon leaving a stop point only to look a right wally and yes the clutch complained for a few miles but no issue since. And I am a good boy with my starts now I wouldn't say I was giving it beans, just exploring the car. I still haven't driven the car properly yet. Standing start, raise the revs a bit, and try to launch... but the car wouldn't let me, the clutch stayed engaged.

  8. I'm 5'9'', although do have a reasonably tall driving position as I don't slouch. The light is very distracting, to the point I'm wondering if the wrong bulb is in it or something. It lights me up, and is bright enough to the point I could read, albeit with strained eyes, using it
  9. Another question. The full beam indicator light on the dash.... Is there any way to dim this? Not sure what Nissan were thinking putting a bulb that bright on there.
  10. Seems to of solved the problem, cheers
  11. Picked up my new GT Edition today. Before I go back to the dealer, this maybe just me overlooking something. Whenever a person gets in or out, the window drops slightly. Now I expect this is normal, given the drivers window lifts again on the door closing. However, twice today I've returned to the car with my passenger, and the passengers window has been around 1'' open. Is this a problem, or is it something I'm overlooking?
  12. 15-20,000 miles a year in a 370Z with Super Unleaded - now that sounds expensive! Well I've an Auris T180 just now, and get around 29mpg on a long run. Bizarrely I get 33mpg around town. However, I understand the Z should achieve high 20's and perhaps into low 30's @ 70-75mph on a long run thus I shouldn't notice any real difference in cost to what I'm paying just now, as ~90% of my milage is commuting from Ayrshire to North Wales (and paid for by the company). My 'fun' driving will be around 2000 miles per year. Awful economy for a sporty diesel. Toyota have had the car back numerous times and say there is nothing wrong with it. However the owners forum reports the car is ridiculously sensitive to speed. 55mph will see 45mpg attained, 65mph will see 35mpg, 70mph will see 32mpg, 75mph, will see 28-29mpg. It really is an atrocious engine set up, that is absolutely no fun to drive. Given it is completely unrealistic to drive at 55mph on a 330 mile commute, my thinking is I'm paying X amount anyway and I'm happy paying it.... so may as well enjoy it in something that could be described (loosely) as a GT type sports car
  13. Yeah, out of Macklins. I've not had any prior knowledge with them, but Sam has been excellent throughout the sale. The whole process has been pretty positive. In terms of exhaust, I didn't think it was as bad as is made out in many reviews. However, the engine did seem to need pushed a bit to sound anything like a sports car should. I would agree that it needs changed to give a bit of throat to the exhaust note. I don't want something that drones, as I will be doing 15-20k a year in the car, so I'll perhaps need to research it.
  14. Paying £27k for it new. I really can't grumble at that. I'm self employed so getting used car finance at a competitive rate is hard, I was accepted for Nissans own finance. With that price and Nissan offering 6.9% apr, it isn't too much more expensive than a 2yr old one, with low milage, but paying 15% apr! Not sure if I'll be at the Wales meet, whilst I work in North Wales, I do live and am from Scotland. I'll make an effort though. The 370Z is such a rare car, and not something you see every day, I would be interested in seeing what other people are doing to them. How does uprev work with warranties? Had a Z4 3.0si 5yrs ago. Other than that had a 300bhp S3, and a selection of of hot hatches over the years (I'm only 30, and only realistically been able to afford fast decent cars for 6-7yrs). The Z will represent the most powerful car I've owned. Agree with you there, I see it as the best colour and the best model. However, others may see it different.
  15. Took a car for a test drive today, deposit down, signed the paper work and should be picking up a brand new manual GT Edition in Storm White next Saturday. I drove the auto version on the test drive today, and after spending the last 4-5wks watching videos of 370Z reviews, I had a good idea what to expect. The car met expectations, indeed exceeding them in some regards. The negative aspects of the car (namely the standard engine note, and road noise), weren't as bad as I thought they would be. Was really impressed with the 3rd/4th gear range of the car, and at cruising speed found it to be comfortable and a nice place to be. So after a 5yr hiatus, I finally should have a FR sports car again! Looking forward to it.
  16. I do indeed, and head towards Ruthin instead of going straight towards Corwen/Llangollen. What was the snow like there yesterday? I opted not to risk it given the forecast, hence never got to test drive the car today!
  17. Rural N.Wales. I'm at Trawsfynydd. Local to me then. I'm just outside of Corwen , and have friends living in Criccieth. V-Power at Betws Y Coed for me. I forgot there was a Shell at Betws y Coed, that's a bit better, only 25 miles away. I was thinking the nearest was next to the A55 at Llandudno. I'm not local to here, I'm from near Glasgow, however work at the power station in Traws. I know where you are though, drive towards Corwen on my way home. I'm assuming you must be near that American Ranch/Bison place?
  18. How much does this UpRev cost to get done? I'm actually kinda slightly put off now due to a lack of super unleaded in this area. If the car has to be ran on super, I don't think it's realistic for me to buy one. It's actually a point I never gave any thought to until mentioned here.
  19. Main problem I have is where I am based, which is very rural, I don't know a nearby petrol station that stocks super unleaded. It's all 95, even the local tesco and shell (which are the only 2 mainstream garages). But.... it's a 45 minute drive to get to the nearest petrol station I know stocks Super Unleaded, there maybe one closer but I can't think where (I'm in rural North Wales most of the time) I don't really want to be driving 70-80 odd miles round trip to fill her up This could be a problem if the car should not run on 95.
  20. Well my motorway driving is coming from Scotland to Wales, and back again. I'm usually doing this after 7pm and rarely am in anything more than moderate motorway traffic, usually quiet. I've seen me put my car into cruise control, and not touch the brake for over 200 miles. Another question, running on 95 RON, will it affect economy, or damage the engine? If not I'd only be interested in running super unleaded when I was actually going to use the car properly. Also, as you've hinted there, is there any remapping that can be done to the Z to make it a better/more economical to drive? What do you suggest I research and recommend?
  21. I've found the car and have a deposit down on it. It's mine subject to a test drive and nothing going drastically wrong in the next fortnight. I can't see me not liking a +300bhp RWD sports car, especially given the Z's reviews, so unless I lose my job or something I should be picking it up at the start of February! I trust forum opinion on the economy on a long run, and I'm happy with that. That was my only concern that 75mph maybe down into the low 20's! I mean I can easily live with figures close to 30mpg, I mean I ran a 1.2 Clio down here a few times and only achieved 35mpg at motorway speed. Given the difference in performance, 28-29mpg is excellent!
