How about putting an angle/chamfer on the spacer ring so the tops out and the bottom in. It would lift the terminals clear some more and may look more deliberate and therefore less noticable... just a thought

Nothing wrong with high milers if there looked after properly but you have to take into account the wear and tear on all the other bits not just the engine. The old jap plastics can suffer over time if care isnt taken and the seats can also wear. Then theres the running gear etc None of this is a show stopper aslong as its reflected in the price. If its going to annoy you though and you end up replacing bits over time then you have a car that could cost as much as a low miler with high miles on it. Its always the same, spend as much as you can and get the best condition with the lowest miles and you likely get a nicer car.. if you just want to have the zed experience and not looking for long term ownership it could be more prudent to buy a cheap one and move it on after a short while.

Here`s a few things to try. Next step is sit there in neutral and focus on the noise then see if it changes when you push the clutch down. Are you sure its up front. Dont rule out something like a fuel pump whine...... noise could travel through the car. Might be worth seeing if there is anything when just sitting with the ignition on and the car not running. Could also be something like an alternator or power sterring. If sitting in neutral with the car idling does the noise change as you move the steering from side to side.

Theres no doubt about it electric cars will improve but If there so good for us why dont they make them so you just plug them into the mains to charge. Is it because we would all be charging them at work for free and they would have to find a way to tax us on it ? Then you`d have to increase the amount of electricity we produce so would need to burn all that oil you saved from petrol keeping the power stations going. Or you could use the 400 years of coal we have in the ground but then you`d end up with a large unionised industry again which their frightened of and so it goes on. Happy days all round......... i think theres a little way to go yet so i`ll just stick to me petrol. Petrol`s made from oil. We make synthetic oil. It aint never gonna run out. Its all about tax, get with the program... lol

I know your saying a ticking noise and its hard to tell from the video clip but check the exhaust manifolds and below to make sure there not blowing. Sometimes a small crack in a manifold can sound very strange.

Does it do it going along in gear and does it change if you put it in neutral and coast. Does it make a difference if you push the clutch down. Need to work out if the noise is related to being in gear or not and if its under load or not.

Loads of cars seem to have them now, diesal or petrol.
