    Model

Yep 2004 GT (with upgraded Rays which werent standard in 2004 and sat nav option / rear parking sensors). Looks a very tidy car, hard to believe its done over 60K miles. What price the looking for?
  3. welcome to yet another Jock on the forum.
  4. View the orange ones first in person - they are an aquired taste. As for black, occasionally come up on fleabay but few and far between. If your up for a challenge you could always get yours recovered?
  5. Problem might be its two of them against one of you. Good luck anyway mate , would make me frustrated as hell!!!
  6. Like all soft tops - price does dip in the winter months, with May, June and July seeming to be the better months for flogging roadsters. You didn't mention whether your after a vert or coupe, only that you want a pre 06 gt. Mines will be up for sale when I get back to uk in four / five weeks time (car currently in storage). Dont think there is a lower miled pre 06 roadster for sale on autotrader / pistonheads (at the moment). What year n miles is your Z3?

    Re-map cost

Think one of the reasons there aren't more options out there for the 350z, is probably the gains had by remapping the 350z engine. Its a NA engine therefore a standard remap will get very little compared to a remap of a turbo car. Ecutek a 220hp scoobie and you can easily get 280. (30% increase) Remap a 276 350z and you will be (very) lucky to see anywhere near 300 (less than 8%). So that limits the amount of people who can justify the mapping cost of the 350z, no matter that'll drive so much better....which will effect the amount of suppliers willing to create a product.
  8. Name a few please?? I normally take the easy route...ie gocompare, but might look at ones that only go back 3 or 4 years.
  9. Reckon thats why (in general) manufacturers tend to colour the wheels dark grey / gunmetal rather than a solid black?
  10. Worth a try with the plasti cote? Just need to buy my refurbed wheels....LOL
  11. What is the percentage of bad guys that try to outrun the cops?? Very few....and the ones that do have a lot to lose so have no reason to stop. And if it gets too serious with speeds, the BiB will back off. Bring back Morris 1000s....and divert all the other cash into dropping crime rate. A few more PCs on the street over the weekend, or another new 335i WITH ALL the options to crack down on 70mph in a 60? Seriously though - twice last year my families cars where given small dunks by overseas registered cars. Luckily no one was injured and was all settled (with cash) amicably. BUT what happens when an injury occurs? Concentrate more on roadside inspections / stops....., and less on those who just broach over the speed limit. Obviously 45 in a 30 next to a school should be curtailed, but getting uninsured, unroadworthy, and unlicensed cars off the roads would be my first priority (for the traffic boys) too. But then the crunch is that this would bring in very little revenue. Unfortunately not the Cop on the streets fault - just the way of the world today. Enuff said - as getting way off the original OPs topic.
  12. i agree and always slow in built up areas and villages but when your on the open road and there sat in there little van now thats anoying But sitting there in the "little van" generates the pennies Exactly....and there does seem to have been a bit of a fundraising scheme in operation of late. Up our way all the police are under the same governing body - so not separate countys / regions. Now all revenue generated by traffic fines gets funneled back into the police service. Thats fine by me, and its as it should be. Fines raised will go towards better policing etc etc - so crime drops. Emmm, maybe. Cant say I have noticed more police / beat plod around - but the traffic cops defo have better cars! And I'm sure at the annual yearly briefing on budgets - no one mentions go out and generate some easy revenue!!! Before I get shot down in flames - you break the law - you pay the fines. BUT When was the last time anyone saw traffic cops in the rain cracking down on speed (where obviously speeding is even more dangerous in poor weather conditions)? Maybe police up my way are just fair weathered cops.
  13. Aye repaired Atkinsons and in the process added 20 quid to everyones insurance poilcy!!!!

    Spoiler Question

Ahh interesting. I don't really like leaving things to body shops. Never used it before but might get some fiber and resin. What did you use to fill it in? Edit: thinking about it, the recess will take the 3m tape and as it's thicker it should make a good seal. Guess the best thing to do is buy it and then work out the best way to fit... I used bolts / tiger seal and 3m tape to take up gap and stop any rubbing. Filled areas with fiber n resin, as area was a lot more than 3M would take up. Also took a long time prepping it, that way once painted looks tip top. Once you purchase one, you'll know yourself what needs done to get it up to the standard you want. To be fair my securing might be overkill - but thought better "over" doing it once - than it landing on someones bonnet on the motorway!!

    Spoiler Question

You would get away buying less paint - but the lower amount you buy the harder it is too match (esp azure). The 65 quid for paint is roughly cost of a half ltr. And you'll have paint left over in case you need a little further down the line.

    Spoiler Question

Your paint will be 65 quid then laquer (which most body shops will have). All in including work and purchase cost of spoiler 300-350??? Depends on how much prep work painter has to do to spoiler supplied. OP pic - looks like wrap on roof.

    Spoiler Question

Centre area was recessed on mine - ie only the outer edges would have made contact. As I had to reprofile mine anyway to fit the roadster - I filled the area in. Shouldn't be an issue for any decent bodyshop.

    Spoiler Question

Bolted / bonded mine on as don't plan to remove it....or have the wind remove it when driving!! Also unless the spoiler is spot on, will be difficult to get both ends fully "locked" down onto boot lid, although Zhorno seems to have managed it. Mine being the roadster doesn't have the standard lip spoiler but works ok, but the rear landing area of boot lid on roadster is a different shape. "]http://[/url].

  20. And what deems "stupid" places? Obviously 30 limits and the likes - but where some might think "a little" over is okay here (empty B road - light traffic), may actually be a no-no to a police advanced driver (due previous statistics on road). If you speed - then you take your chance on getting caught. I would say 90% of drivers speed at somepoint - and the other 10% are just as bad with crawling along well under the limit!!! As for SAC - seems a no brainer too me. Wish I got offered it 4 years ago when i got done for 83 on the motorway......
  21. So you get done for speeding / using phone / etc etc (delete where appropriate) - and get your three points and fine as you deserve. After three years the points are no longer counted on your licence. After four years you can have them removed from your licence. BUT Why then do insurance companies still stipulate 5 years!!!! Sorry for the rant, but it pi**es me off......as per title scamming buggers!

    Spoiler Question

I have one fitted, IMO (obviously) looks good. Defo needs to be coloured same as car. As other said, rep needs a lot of prep work to get it looking good....but then most replica stuff does. And going by the pics - that one doesn't seem to be sitting right on drivers side???
  23. Yep also work away - but should (i say should!!!) be home mid July for a few months. Watching topic as still undecided whether to keep car or not. If I do keep it then it will be getting remapped.
  24. Welcome. With that budget you'll get a wide range of zeds. All depends on what you want wise with regards colour, miles, spec etc. Which ever model you buy, part costing are all the same. No more or less than you probably have with your BMW, providing you stay away from main dealers. There is plenty independants out there (and on here) that can supply quality spares at a good price. You'll defo get a newer 313 within your budget but it'll have high miles, so then you need to factor in wear and tear on components - which I assume is why you have asked for rough pricing on components. All models have their issues (what cars dont).....but the only one that would bother me is the oil consumption one (2006 model - although dont shoot me down in flames if I have wrong year) and possibly the gearbox issue that can effect any model year. If you do a search you'll find details. Whether these are isolated cases, who knows. Maybe its more related to higher mile cars? Again, who knows. All other issues are relatively cheap to fix. There are plenty out there - so bide your time and pick a spec / colour you like, and keep trawling the internet.
  25. It has been many years since i have been down to Bonnybridge.....they tuned two of my Scobbies many many moons ago. Still under same ownership - guy called Duncan I think??
