  1. So after much thought (not!!) and with my sensible head on (4 seats), off I went looking. Scoobie 330s - nearly then read horror stories on engines going pop. Golf R - very nice but also very boring. M3 V8 - couldn't find a decent one for cash I wanted to spent. Megane 250 - white one local to me but its still a Megane. Focus RS - viewed a nice one but wife reckons it looked sh*t (very fast though...was surprised !) So ended up buying a..... Porsche Caymen S. Yes I know, not 4 seats, not practical etc etc....but never had a Porsche and the 3.4S seams to be the the pick of the baby porsches. Also helps that if you sqint it looks like a beetle!!! But another one off the car "bucket" list. First views? The 350z if defo gruntier around town. Then I reved the porsche and over 4500 rpm , feels faster than the 350z. Build quality is better (obviously), and layout if better inside. And Porsche brakes have a very nice feel, even from cold.
  2. Cheers Kev. Will have a look at whats around. Reckon i'd stick with the manual though.
  3. Cheers Humpy - who knows, may still be a nissan ( ;) ) if I could persuade the wife to take some dept.....or go on the game :scare: PageyUK - Monaros are too old but VX8R is defo up there. There was a very nice SC blue one a while back on Pistonheads....might see if still for sale. Kev - fugly wheels!!! You surely meant FUGLY wheels. The guy at BMW who said "nice" should have been shot. BUT the comp wheels are stunning, and totally change the car. I had a brief jaunt in M3V8 many moons ago and at the time thought my RS4 was a better car (sunny Scotland)......but I still need to tick the box so on the list.
  4. I recognize that car ;) Looking good Nissanjuke, glad yer happy, shes a good one
  5. Was the comp [ack not just wheels n exhaust? Would need to be a earlier e92 financial wise.
  6. That's sensible is it? I'd rather the V8 if it was me. Good luck with the car hunt. Cheers.....will probably need all the luck i can get. The "sensible" bit just means they have four seats. Wife has just piped up and says she likes 997s....cause they are cute Youngest boy wants a Camero in yellow!!! (yes like bumblebee), while the oldest lad doesn't care as he won't get insured for it anyway. Back to pistonheads.
  7. My mate has justed traded his Rb320 in for a blue 370z....so will get a shot in it see what I think BUT reckon I "NEED" a V8. The only thing is the M3V8s look so boring, XFRs are still too expensive and I can afford to keep replacing rear tyres and the big Merc V8s. As said in previous message - Scoobie 330s might be the ideal car and save for a Grandturismo toward the end of 2015.
  8. Well guys, the roadster has been sold. After 19 months its off to its new owner. The good news is that its a fellow forum member, who should keep it looking good, and probably use it a lot more than I managed. He has more plans for the car but I will let him take over on forum, and keep you updated. So a big thankyou to all on here....the little bits of info over the last year and a half have been very helpful. The banter along the way was an added bonus. I'll be hanging around on forum for a bit, as still unsure whats next on the car front. Wife has visions of a VW Camper ....hell no. My heart say another V8, but my sensible head says a Scoobie / Golf R or the likes. Have a few bits n bobs that the new owner didn't want / need, so these will get posted in for sale section shortly. FWIW - third car i've sold in a row thats went to a respective forum member without being advertised elsewhere. Thankfully means I haven't had to deal with tyre kickers.....and on that note, I'm off to route around pistonsheads / autotrader and become said "tyre kicker". Again, thanks and take care.
  9. And dont forget the HFCs (high flow cats) - probably the biggest gains will be had after remap because of these. I think the biggest gains come from a Supercharger Mmm 6.2 V8 might trump that? :stir:  The gains he would get were with the mods on the car...ie milltek and hfc. Reckon HFCs would prove more freeing of HP when remap.

  11. Good bikes - my mate has exact same as the pic 1100 version? (although a hell of a lot muckier), the other has silver half faired version 1200?. A few points that'll help you if you buy one. Check front brakes - they seize very easy if not cleaned, the carbs hate getting left for any length of time with fuel in them (gunge up), turn rear wheel adjuster 180 degrees - raises the back end a bit and they turn in so much better (cost you nothing to do). However check insurance before buying. My other Mate who married an evil witch and sold his bike 4 years ok, has decided to buy another now his divorse is through. Now he is 42, been riding bikes since 18 on the road and only not had a bike for last four years (so no NCB). Looked at a 2k 929 fireblade.......quoted 8700 to insure it!!!! Mental. My R1 costs me 120 quid.....go figure??
  12. http://www.350z-uk.c...t-uprev-tuning/ the link to the remap. Enjoy the car...its a good one and keep us updated on future mods.
  13. Pros - imports are cheaper. IMO better rear bumper. If freshly imported, may not have been subjected to British winter road measures (iie salt/grit) Cons - imports are worth less come resale, specs are generally lower (Uk GT is almost top spec Jap model I believe ??), speedo in KMH, stereos can be in Japanese, can be difficult ot verify history / mileage. Check tyres are Japan tends to have lower rated rubber (for lower speeds). Genrally tend to be slightly more to insure, unless import insurance specialist. Oh and fairlady just sounds a bit "sh*t"..... Buy with your eyes wide open, and imports can be worth it. I've had a few but that was because the UK didn't sell the Jap version I wouldn't at the time (STI and R33GTR). However will plenty UK 350z out there, wouldn't be an issue with these. If your looking at imports, bargain in discounts but also beware come resale - although its 6 and half a dozen.
  14. Tidy looking Cayman. Not a fan of black but that does look nice, with the decals along the side. You'd even get away with some strips in same colour up the bonnet n roof. Mmm. very nice. Good luck with the sale.
  15. Keep trying....it does work. Took me a few goes. As stated , timing needs to be spot on.
  16. I'm not saying there will be a paint change, but some manufacters change shades for differring years. Paint code for Super black 2003/2004 is different from the Black Pearl they list for later years - so probably not the same.
  17. Same wings so shouldn't be an issue. Colour between years (esp 5) might vary though. Alex beat me too it!!
  18. 2 seater fine for me as the misses has a seven seater pathfinder for lugging around the brats, the eldest of which is taking lessons. So he also has a 5 door Suzuki swift that gets called on if needed.
  19. PMd - your email didn't work - details bounced back.
  20. Would this do you?? Not white but don't think I have ever seen a white roadster? http:// http:// http:// "]http://[/url] Currently in storage as overseas but will be up for sale shortly - not to far from you either. Very low mile car (37k) - 2005 UK GT Azure blue with a few choice mods. Rear Gia Cuzzo spoiler, colour matched to car. This IMO is a must on any roadster as it transforms the bulky back end. Front Mines style lip spoiler in gloss black from RT Performance. Side steps in gloss black from Tarmac. Milltek full cat back stainless system including y-pipe – not too loud. High flow cats, which when fitted combine with milltek to give a very nice exhaust sound. XXR530 alloys in shadow chrome. 18 x 8.75 front and 18 x 9.75 rears, with ET20 offset so no need for spacers to fill arches. Wheels are unmarked and fitted with good Falken tyres in correct / original sizing, so no TC issues. Tein S-Tech lowering springs. These were fitted at same time as last service, and car was laser aligned at this time. Have results of alignment and car is sitting perfect. D2 Spec throttle controller. This is routed and hidden in centre ash tray compartment. The D2 spec controller is a handy little thing, and a must for the 350z. Grooved and dimpled discs front and back. In addition to above, a few minor mods listed below. While these are not expensive, they do add to the car: Colour matched front light eyelids. Not to everyone’s taste but I like them. Easily removed. Flyboy’s airbox velocity stack mod. Cosworth panel filter. Bose Ipod Hack with lead routed to centre console. LED lights fitted in place of front bumper reflectors, wired into side lights. Silvertec front indicator bulbs – a pain to fit but worth it to lose the orange bulbs. Front number plate surround removed and smaller front plate fitted. Aero wiper blades. Blue LED interior lights. AND not forgetting the stubby ariel.
  21. Yes, it really is futile changing your oil every 2,000 miles, it's a bit like taking a dirty £20 note into the bank and giving them £25 for a new one. Look, I worked for 25 years in the engine oil additive business as a chemist so I know just how many miles and how many years engines will run under all sorts of conditions and believe me manufacturers margin in a huge safety factor into their oil change intervals....should be changed after 5 years max though even if you only do a few hundred miles a year and of course you need to have the other servicing requirements done on a regular basis. Pete Glad to see some one with sense Jet Set. So many get hung up on the missed service. If its done big mile between services then yes, be worried. But if not, dont be overly concerned. Modern oils are very good, as are most engines. An engine is more likely to go bang when someone doesn't treat it right. Warm them up, and then use them throughout the rev range regularly is what IMO is best. But what do I know....25 years dealing with engines (on a slightly bigger scale than the 350z).... Im sure others will be along shortly to state that ever car not serviced every 6 months should be scrapped.
  22. Hate to say it but ebay is prob your cheapest option - but worth a try at some of the retailers on here.
  23. Have them on my car - can't say I notice any real difference in comfort. As for ride height - pretty much as it says on the tin (14/17mm)....hence not to much of a drop that requires other mods (adjustable arms and such). And they are a pretty green colour as well.
  24. Mines has 37k in 9 years - so roughly 4k per year. I would rather have a low mile versions with a few missed services than a high mile car serviced every 6 months.....but thats just me. FWIW my car is stored in a heated garage for 6 months of the year - do you think I will change the oil every 2000 miles??? As others have said, go on condition and don't let 9k between a serice worry you. Modern engine oils will easily cope with that....even over a 16 month period. Get some pics up of the car in question. A lot of 350z are used as second cars (as only 2 seats) so many have lower than average miles.
