  1. Is wrapped in satin black vinyl. I tried doing it myself and made a complete pig's ear of it several times! Quick visit to Boss Dog in Dorking and they did it in about 20 min and of course made it look stupidly easy although definitely a bit fiddly. When I tried I started from the top and worked down, the guy doing it "simply" laid the vinyl over the front and did all the trimming around the switch assembly first then when that was done then he worked on the sides, top and bottom. I think also I used too much heat whereas he was quite sparing with his heat gun. Only cost me £20!
  2. Today we went from this: to this: David
  3. Had a little trip down to Z-Shed today (interesting travel conditions - sun, rain, sleet, sun, snow!) for the team to fit my new HU and rear view camera. Great job done, quick, neat and a good chat and laugh all round! Chris, Bob - you guys are just superb! David.
  4. Funny thing is I am tempted to go the other way, never have liked leather backs and squabs so am contemplating a partial alcantara re-trim or full cloth. David
  5. Am dithering between these R888 and MPSS (which I have had on other cars and of course they performed superbly - within my amateur skill range...) ,,, So For those who have the R888 on their Zed, what is road noise like? 5-7k life span doesn't phase me and for the alleged extra grip when giving some beans in the dry I am tempted to the R888. No issues with these only being 40 profile? So many choices in life, so little time to try them all... David
  6. If you want one even further away let me know and I'll take one tomorrow.
  7. Thanks for the earlier advice about the gaiter! The MOMO knob is quite a bit shorter than OEM (and a LOT lighter!) so the net effect is to shorten the throw of the gear shift, David
  8. Today I added a carbon fibre air tube (the eagle eyed viewer will notice that the rubber coupling is mis-shaped - is OK I've sorted it!) and replaced the OEM gear knob with a MOMO unit that matches the perforated leather on my re-trimmed wheel. My "blinged" plenum and cam covers will be on in a couple of weeks time! Just HOW tight are those OEM knobs... needed two BIG pairs of grips (one on shaft and one on knob... ) to remove it! David
  9. Probably will at some point but short term I was more wondering how wide the top of the gaiter is - ie is it as wide as the base of the OEM knob or is it closer to the diameter of the gear stick shaft and slides up underneath the OEM collar? David Oh right sorry. Gaiter is a close fit around the shaft so will be tucked under gear knob neatly That info is much appreciated!
  10. Probably will at some point but short term I was more wondering how wide the top of the gaiter is - ie is it as wide as the base of the OEM knob or is it closer to the diameter of the gear stick shaft and slides up underneath the OEM collar? David
  11. I've gone for a MOMO knob to match my re-trimmed wheel but am wondering what the leather gaitor looks like once the standard knob has been removed and whether it will allow a neat integration to the MOMO knob which is much slimmer at the base... David
  12. Purchased from RWS Motorsport Development in Japan is this superbly molded top cover for the instrument panel. Picture (with my forum name) shows the item for sale, the other is from RSW site showing it fitted. Fits snugly on to top panel with double sided tape (which is already applied). Sadly the stunning weave didn't match that of my gear shift surround so I decided not to fit it. Retail price in Japan is approx £88 plus p&p - am offering it for £65 plus p&p or free collection (Surrey).
  13. I'm in for full DE set in stainless/silver please. David
  14. Exactly what I plan to do! Wrap or Plastidip them.
  15. Both from RT Performance. Thanks for liking it! David
  16. There were some superb examples of Jack's work in his garage. BMW wheel with two tone MPower stitching, wheels with alcantara, wheels with part alcantara/part leather. If you can think of I suspect Jack can make it - the quality of his workmanship is superb and he is a jolly nice chap too! Thanks to Any (the OP) for making his services known to us. David
  17. Correct Graham! I opted to have Jack fit it - straightforward process - but I wimp out when dealing with airbags and I don't have a large enough torque wrench! David
  18. No problem - good to have a chat. David
  19. Not had my new rockers/painted plenum fitted yet... but have had this done (is also reported in "Interior" thread). +4mm thicker, perforated sides, smooth nappa top/bottom. (now thinking if I might change the colour of switch covers. Either Plastidip (bit of tricky masking) or matt black vinyl wrap (equally tricky ...).
  20. Back home from a successful trip to Jacks (who has a garage STACKED with steering wheels!). Fitting all went well - same spec as others (perforated sides, smooth top/bottom, black stitching) BUT I had chosen +4mm rather than the standard +2mm. If you have small hands you might find it too thick - but I love the chunky padded feel - def improves the driving experience. David David
  21. Me too! I've gone for double (4mm) padding, perforated side, smooth top bottom and black stitching. Aiming to be there around 10! David
  22. Hope not as I am heading his way on Saturday for my new wheel! David
  23. Nice to see a wrap that isn't cf! Good result. David
  24. I orderded mine on 9th and it will be ready for fitting by Jack on 25th. David
