  1. "Someone once told me golf is a game of "ifs & putts"" Or 'yawns and lawns'? Or did I just make that one up?
  2. Gosh yes, I would rather watch some Farrow & Ball dry than watch a golf contest I'll have to take you word for it being more fun to play. I was forced to stay in a golfing hotel with work once and had to 'play' (I use the word loosely) with the proper golfists. Such fun. Not. If I'd had my horse with me it would have been fun mind you; all that lovely grass to gallop round on
  3. Sorry, I think golf is the most boring game ever invented so no help from me but I hope you enjoy playing again Mr Two Bears is sometimes asked if he plays golf and feels certain that the 'correct' answer is 'but of course', unfortunately he shares my view of the game
  4. I am popping in for a flying visit on Saturday (en route to my parents' in Leicestershire) to talk to Arkwright, Mad Marco and Alex about club merchandise if they are there If anyone else would like to give feedback on the proposed new products your input would be very welcome. Thanks Annie
  5. Noooo, you did the right thing for sure Glad you won the now infamous "Battle of Smartie Valley "
  6. It sounds as though this particular Roadster may not be the car for you but I am with HaydnH in thinking that Roadsters are actually great fun I enjoy driving with the roof down in Spring and Autumn as well because, with the heater and/or heated seats on, you feel lovely and warm and you still get the fun of being 'en plein air'
  7. Will I think your position as group leader (minus any map reading errors ) is safe Mind you, I might lead a group of 4x4s up some steps since learning that particular trick yesterday
  8. BBK, you're forgiven - can't stay mad at you for long Pete, I have had some nice comments but you know what it's like, you get a little flurry of sarcastic comments and they are the ones that stick in your mind I feel a lot better equipped to deal with the snarky comments now though as I've got little store of great put downs. So watch out any patronising twerps that I may meet in the coming months
  9. That's no way to talk to your Forum Mother Go and sit on the naughty step this instant
  10. Not huge I don't think but I do have pretty big biceps and extremely strong legs like most horse riders simple response is "neither do you" Actually that is brilliant Short, sweet and snappy! Will definitely use that one.
  11. I find them great for bottles of water/iced tea when on long journeys. Get you Haydn with your iced tea There's posh for you
  12. Some good suggestions there. Will try using one or two of them next time I am confronted by a 'Zed denier' Twice in the last couple of weeks I have been told that I look 'too respectable' to be driving a Zed. What the heck is that supposed to mean? I am guessing it must mean 'You look a right dowdy old frump, get yourself a Saxo (insert any other boring car name here)". How should I make myself look less "respectable" anyway? Cover myself with risque tattoos and wear clothes best suited to a lady of the night? I don't know why it's suddenly started to annoy me but it is doing Maybe I should take the Zed out for a nice drive to cheer myself up and forget about the idiots I seem to meet?
  13. Thanks everyone. Knew you would make me feel better Now, where's that car eyelash website when you need it?
  14. Um, not sure about that one - slight possibility it could be misconstrued
  15. Sorry I'm a bit late but "Happy Birthday to Yooooooo"
  16. I was told yesterday, for the umpteenth time, that I don't "look like someone who would drive a Zed". This is starting to hack me off now because I wonder what these men (and it is always men) are trying to tell me. I always laugh it off and change the subject but what do they mean I wonder? Do I look like Miss Marple? Heck, I'm not even wearing a tweed suit and sensible brogues But that is what they seem to be implying and it's not exactly flattering Anyone got any good comebacks that I could use next time I go for a business meeting or something similar and pull up in my Zed to slack-jawed amazement from the stuffed shirts in the car park? I need a killer remark to shut them up
  17. I've had a few nice comments about mine from friends and acquaintances I went on a 4x4 driving day yesterday though and the chap who was teaching me was telling me about his Disco so I told him about my Zed and he immediately said something derogatory about "Datsuns". I just laughed I enjoy driving up and down steep slopes and along streams and so on but driving fast on a track is the best fun I've ever had with my clothes on
  18. Martin, I am the same! Thought it was just me I have started a few Spanish sentences (very basic at the moment) and ended up completing them in French I have a degree in French and, although I don't get to speak it very often, it is obviously still there in my head. I know that Mr Two Bears will be ok without a lot of Spanish but he will, I think ( if I have understood correctly) have a large number of Spanish staff and he doesn't want to come across as your typical Englishman who thinks that speaking louder is all there is to mastering a foreign language Wasso, you are doing it too!! Let's all forget about French and concentrate on Spanish for the purposes of this post please
  19. Just looked at the Rosetta Stone course. Expensive Wonder if they do it at the local library?
  20. Thank you. He's really excited about it I daren't even try translating all those phrases - I just know they will be rude I suppose it would be good to know some unsavoury words just in case but I think we'd better learn the basics first
  21. I agree that you pick up a language faster when you live in a country for a while. When I lived in France for a few months I quickly started to dream in French for some reason The thing is he will be in charge of a lot of people and it seems only polite to speak the language as well as he can before he gets there. I don't really need to learn but I want to help him as much as I can. If I learn too we can have conversations so that he can practise
  22. Mr Two Bears has been and gone and got headhunted for a job in Madrid so I need to learn Spanish pronto. See I've learnt my first word already Really it's Mr Two Bears who needs to become fluent as he will be there full time and I will just be visiting whenever I fancy topping up my tan We've signed up for evening classes which start next month but just wondered if anyone had successfully taught themselves by using a language course and, if so, which one?
  23. Sorry to hear about your cat Pete x I had my old dog put to sleep last week
  24. At least you didn't photo copy your bottom - or maybe you did These pictures are a lot bigger than my scanner bed but am definitely going to try scanning smaller pics if I need to Polarised lens, very good accessory. Makes blue skies bluer and reduces reflections too. You will find this an invaluable purchase with many uses. I've ordered it, not arrived yet, but looking forward to expanding my repertoire with the camera a bit All I seem to take these days is close up product shots but I do fancy doing a few more landscapey type projects if Mr Two Bears fancies a trip out somewhere nice this weekend
  25. Photman, just wanted to say a big 'Thank you' for your advice I have re-photographed all the pictures, propping them up on an angle rather than trying to stand straight on to them and am pleased to say that it has worked Got some good pics now which I can use on my website so thanks again!
