Hope your feeling better mate

EDIT - Did it ever occur to you why I didn't want you to read it!?

Yes you are correct I'm definitely slipping but in my defence I did it from my phone because I'm at work not sitting at home playing with my toys

Yes you're right I'm just jealous

Right while I have a captive audience under house arrest and bored enough to read my drivel, I'll post some more of it to maybe give you something to do for 5 minutes.

@andybp You just look at the pretty pictures mate

So where are we at, I made a buggy for "The Bug"

    IMG_4982.JPG.d295753d206c6452b7583d2eb2a8bd6a.JPG

Now it fits on both the ramps and I can move it around

    Next I removed the seats

    IMG_5017.JPG.40b965f908b20826fe96fe371c713e8e.JPG

needs a  clean but so do the seats

    IMG_5016.JPG.447e0a41eff6f620646ca61ecbf9a0e1.JPG

Qucik hose down in the garden

    IMG_5020.JPG.393770e5314a0db3f7f3b310b390c427.JPG

Good enough for now, everything will be cleaned properly later or before re-assembly

    It now sat like this

    IMG_5037.JPG.167a67aabceb443fa28c4044b17ff62e.JPG

So I removed some more bits

    IMG_5044.JPG.78147cdba8aa25da431f0a4ae129b092.JPG

To get easier access to the electrics

Starting from the MOT Failure list it lists amongst other things

    Stop lamp(s) all not working

Position lamp niot working Nearside Rear

Position lamp niot working Offside Rear

Registration plate lamp inoperative in the case of a single lap or all lamps Rear

    So lets take a look

    Nearside Rear light

    IMG_4972.JPG.75bd870cb027f3127ef1be785433d42d.JPG

    Offside Rear light

    IMG_4973.JPG.22953a0956ab7c3790010a29c3d547f8.JPG

It took a while but I may see why these failed

    Number plate light

    IMG_5058.JPG.1e855c7110585daca33b4d98fae13e22.JPG

Not sure if this is a clear light painted black or just old

Anyway I got the multimeter out and the electrics don't supply and power to the lights so the missing bulbs are not the only issue, I started stripping back the wiring loom

    TCXB2439.JPG.64b273cec0af692cb287700f41deceb3.JPG

    and the dash came out

    IMG_5057.JPG.c638fc59f9fb185e23d364b6d865094c.JPG

Coffee was needed! I keep finding "modificatins" to the loom like -

    IMG_5028.JPG.07f3456af5a02da0876a6932386254ab.JPG

    So far apart from the broken lights I have found;

1 x Damaged headlamp internal wiring (bent connectors shorting out or not making contact)

    1 x Knackered relay

    1 x Knackered headlamp switch

I'm also having an issue with the indicators as I'm swaping out the rears for LED units, I am well aware of the known relay issue and hyperblink when putting LED's in to the indicators but I have the resistors and when bench tested it works perfectly, it just stops working when I fit it onto The Bug :scare:

O well more investigation and a lot of rewiring, intrstingly the MOT failure states -

    "Rear Fog Lamp not working"

But it dosn't have one, there is also no wiring or switch anywhere to be found, The law is it must have one from what I have read so fine I'll add one but how did it pass previous MOT's? Bit strange but there you go.

I asked the mad scientis @Beb if he minded me modifying a few things as it is our project but due to social distancing and the lockdown I'm just getting on with it by myself, he stupidly said yes whatever you think - Stand by for scope creep

Budget is a thing on this project as we intend to keep the cost down to £1000 which is less than it would cost if we had bought one with an MOT, I'll post up spending if anyone is intrested  However I have a lot of bits laying around from other projects which I class as free and time is currently on my side so if I don't put a cost oion the time or the bits I have access to I can do a lot of mods for free and I'm doing some of themm because they are needed IMHO the rest I'm doing just  because I can and I want to

    More soon.

    Stay Safe

Keyser -  All by myself Don't wanna be All by myself Anymore .........................  (Yer thanks Celine  )

I tried to just look at the pictures as suggested but a plethora of spelling mistakes just kept jumping out at me

Have you replaced poor spelling with bad photography?

  3. When I started this Thread it was out of simple curiosity but it's been quite an eye opener the people being sent home and worrying about how they will cope with either no money coming in or being confined with the wife and kids, people like myself having to work but with no substantial increase in risk to all of the health workers putting themselves at risk every day no doubt in some cases S**tting themselves but still showing up for work every day

like I said an eye opener

    Stay safe :)

5 minutes is a bit optomistic an SA80 on full auto including mag changes=  I'm out in 3 mins tops

Work from home - I have been for the last 10 years  So no change there.

I work in IT Support the work load has doubled apparently someone has to setup all this remote working and get some old laptop that has been laying around the house for years probably with Windows XP setup  for remote access

We are doing 90% remotley but still covering sites for Server outages and major issues, just keep my distance, I have basic PPE and wash my hands a lot.

Obvoiusly site work has dropped off and all installs/upgrades are on hold.

Huge thanks to all the supermarket workers keeping us in food despite all the muppets bulk buying, and hats off to all the NHS / care workers along with the police and prison gaurds still doing what it takes! A sincere thanks from me!!!

Speacial mention to sewage workers cause that's a s**t job

    Sorry @andybp couldn't resist

Hang in there guys - My thread will be updated soon to give you something other than daytime TV to keep you amused :)

It may be a s**t job @Keyser but that makes us a tight knit lot don't make me speak to some of my fellow poo workers in your neck of the woods and have them deliver an artic load through your letterbox ;)

Wait hang on I withdraw that threat I forgot about the wrath of mrs Keyser

@gangzoom and @HEADPHONES I cannot begin to thank you enough for what you and your staff are doing for us all at the moment.  The mental health of everyone you’re working with is extremely important, as it is all over the country.

My paltry effort of driving trains pales into insignificance compared to what you face day after day.  Your whole family and friends will be extremely worried about you every time you walk out your door, I know mine are and I worry sick about my daughter and her husband, both nurses.

Ive seen and dealt with quite a few dead bodies in various capacities, it’s never easy and is something that you hope you won’t ever get used to.

Its people like you two that keeps me going out the front door to my work everyday

Well said, I feel the same way I'm still going to work doing the same old job, my risks aren't massively higher than a couple of weeks ago @gangzoom and @HEADPHONES are putting it on the line and I have the utmost respect for all of you  :clap:and I will do my best not to make it worse by following the guidelines and going to work everyday and processing your SH*T  well somebody's got to do it

Data from China shows viral load in GI/faeces is fairly low, most patients who are COVID+ don't have much detectable viral load from GI tract.

The virus is also very unstable once the Ph goes much above 8 to below 6, am not sure what the Ph of sewage is, but I doubt an RNA based virus can survive long. Your chance of catching it from a colleague is probably higher.

good to know and also the most complete answer i've heard everything we've had so far has been vague and non committal

Unfortunately most people are stupid in many ways. I posted the remainder of my paperwork to the office on Wednesday practising all the proper social distancing and all that. Then a guy came in behind me and stood really close, I turned around and told him to back the truck up and stuff. He then said it was all a load of b****ks and basically its only the flu and only affecting old people. I wanted to punch him really. But i just turned away said my good days to the post master and walked out.

You just can't argue with stupid people really...

    Cant argue with them

    can't kill em

well not unless you do it quietly and know where to dispose of the body (I can help you with the second one)

I work for Nectar, part of Sainsbury's Group - we have all been WFH since start of last week. As a data marketing business it's pretty easy to work remotely but as Stu says, miss the banter and camaraderie. We have daily zoom meetings with the management team which has been a bit of light relief but otherwise starting to get the cabin fever...especially with an 8 year old boy at home that needs home schooling too.

I know what you mean about the banter

our work whatsapp group has been bing-ing away all day and half of us are off today but we never turn our phones off and always support each other

as much as this pandemic has highlighted some of the worst of our society it has also highlighted a lot of good the way some people are looking out for each other

and the camaraderie (something this site is well known for) and the very public appreciation for NHS Staff

saying that my wife now has to put her NHS ID in her pocket instead of wearing it now as NHS staff have been targeted by people stealing their ID's

I’m a prison officer at a large Cat C establishment in the London catchment area, so I’m still going to work as normal obviously. As the other half is in the very high risk category (pregnant with a heart condition) I’m confined to working the cleaner D Cat units, but that doesn’t make me safe at all. I just get on with it and deal with it as normal, doesn’t mean I’m not terrified for the life of my unborn child.

Its amazing how many people are essential workers many you wouldn't think of until it's pointed out to you

Still working as I'm classed as a key worker (Ships Captain).

Pretty much self isolated when on a boat anyway. I used to do 4 months of this at a time, so uniquely placed to handle the lockdown I think.

Making more time to check up on folks though - hence me popping in here for the first time in a while.

can't get the Captain Pugwash theme out of my head now

Working from home, IT project manager. I usually do a day a week from home, so it's not a massive departure, but I have started to miss the day to day office chat after 9 days. I realise that's a first world problem right now when so many have no income, but even if I wasn't still working, I'd still miss the interaction. My 'work flat' has just me in it, 3 floors up, so it's "easy" to isolate away from the world, which is a blessing. Think I might have an e-drinking session this weekend with the lads lads lads to mix it up.

@andybp given the other nasties you must usually be exposed to, I guess this probably isn't such a big deal when you're fully suited up?

sadly because of our somewhat overactive immune systems some of the guys thing that they are indestructible but it won't stop them spreading it to other people who don't have this advantage also it's something of a double edged sword if the missus gets a cold she'll have it for a week or two be a bit miserable but be able to function if I get it I'll be out for the count completely out of it but next day I'll be fine

  12. So who's still working ?

    what do you do ?

do you think you should be ?

    what are your risks ?

    I am

I'm a process technician (Sewage Worker)

we absolutely need to be in it's a 24/7 job if we told everyone to stop flushing the health implications would be huge

we have had no definitive answer as to weather the virus can survive in sewage but our PPE is pretty comprehensive and we are more careful than usual in high risk areas

pretty much all office staff now work from home and the rest of us avoid each other like the plague where possible :)

  14. I have come to the conclusion that these idiots think that there is some sort of zombie apocalypse coming

with that in mind I think that anyone hoarding to the point where it has a detrimental effect on their fellow man

should be treated as such and standard procedures for dealing with zombies should be used.

cut off the head - destroy the brain

If you don't mind putting the effort in then personally I'd put the car completely back to stock, especially if you've still got all the bits.

The zed already has a narrow market, if you sell it as a project you're limiting that down even more.

you're probably right but i think i'll advertise as is and see what response i get for now

    i'm in no mad rush
