As one of the four I'd like to say keep up the good work
and on a side note that selfish git chris (cs2000) could have picked me up on the way past (well past_ish) the other week to get his gearbox done and I could have visited

Goog to see this moving forward

I'm enjoying the tool mods as much as the car mods just wish I either had the space or lived near you

Did you take those pics with a potato?!
Really you need to get a pic of the decats, if indeed it does have decats. What code is the CEL producing?
And what are you ultimately after? I’m not sure there’s an actual question in your post...
Diplomatic as always Dan

I prefer the back to the front
"vive la difference" as the saying goes

keep an eye on the scavenge pump though definitely the weak link in rear mounts

I did wonder when stemo's rear mount kit would show up

I honestly must be the only person that likes this
The amount of work involved in that would have to have been literally insane. The body parts probably cost 10x what the car is worth too.
no i like it as well, I don't like the badges but minus that silliness I can appreciate the work that went into it

I've got one fitment not as good as the real thing but not a major problem and in my opinion too loud with de-cats but quality wise bloody good for the money mine has sat in my back garden for the last year still absolutely fine

I was there !!!!
And back on topic
Now @Beb thought he would sneak away in my 370z but while he was distracted with the boost I whipped his Zed into the "undecided new name" Shed II
and took it apart
That will teach him
Why, you may ask, would I do such a thing? Well as you know I was trying to recreate this -
and I had got to here
However all the measurements had to be projected, that is to say as I had no solid datum point and the shape is quite complex. I had to take any two points create a straight line from those then take a measurement from that line to work out where the top shock mount and upper control arms should be located.
I am worried that these are not accurate enough and given the lack of adjustment on the front of a Zed I am worried that the alignment can not be adjusted enough to be spot on.
This is the very start and if the chassis or suspension is not spot on the finished car will never drive true.
I will no doubt add adjustable parts where available to allow some ability to dial in the tracking but I really want it to be as close to OEM when I start as possible.
My solution after getting my hands on a still together Zed -
Make these -
find out they don't work so change them into this -
Then using my new
toytoolI cut some 50mm blocks and bolted it all into the Zed
repeat on the other side and then weld up a frame to hold everything in place, The frame is mounted to the cross member so it will always sit in line with the chassis rails.
I ended up with a nice template
The theory is I can now bolt it to my cross member attach the chassis rails then build the mounts in exactly the right place

Maximum Effort
I was going to suggest something similar but your way is much better

About time you got on with this

Where are you in essex ? I may have one knocking about as you do don't want to get rid of it but you could try it if it helps

Cheers mate, we can’t all have the same taste it would be boring but this is a big project and some new challenges. I’m enjoying it so far but it’s gonna be slow as I have to make everything from scratch with no plans and no idea what each bit will need or be until I get to it
from scratch ,no plan no idea that sums me up

I'm liking it even though mine is a work in progress
I can't comment on reliability as mine has hardly been on the road yet and it's a diy setup
as for changing back to standard it depends on the setup you buy theoretically you can just remove the bags and fit coil springs at least i can

The car doesn't appeal to me but but your skills and can do attitude are awesome

Is that the same for the ones found in V8 range rovers? I was just looking at these for fun..
I'm pretty sure the older jag/range rover were Eaton M112 but I don't know about later ones

Where did you take the feed from as I thought feed to the turbo would need to be constant and variable?
I'm also looking at specific pumps for the job such as Weldon but just looking around to see if there any better options aswell as trying to find uk stock :/
I fed mine from the oil pressure sensor takeoff through an inline filter
not sure what you mean by "I thought feed to the turbo would need to be constant and variable? "
Turbowerx pumps are good not cheap but good

Dam I thought it would be a slim chance of you still having it
one question I do have though is the oil scavenge side of things, would I be right in thinking that a feed from a sandwich plate and then a 1mm restrictor into the turbo would be enough and then run the scavenge pump straight to sump? Possibly via a small sump
yes but bear in mind the scavenge pumps are the weak point in these setups and have a tendency to fail the final setup I did before I removed mine controlled the pump speed based on the oil pressure feeding the turbo most people just run them full speed

I'd be more than interested in buying it off you if you do sell, I was about to book mine into a local garage for a rear mount after I watched countless videos on YouTube of the std kit which just sounds evil
All gone sorry, another member on here is playing with it

Is it Sunday yet??
Sorry I'm a bit behind Sunday's been and gone several times and in all honesty I'm not much further forward
You know what it's like life and work get in the way of playing with the Z. The rear level sensors are all connected and working and I've been optimising the software
also the suspension seemed a bit rattly turns out the rose jointed drop links I made up the other year have worn not sure if they were poor quality or just because they were open but I've re-done them with good quality german sealed units
also dropped the anti roll bar while I had them off and fitted the poly bushes I've had laying around for ages
also I've changed where I work, same company just closer to home but more importantly I now have access to a triple garage with an air compressor and a pit

DIY Air Ride Suspension
in Suspension
Posted
Ok I'm a bit behind with this project it is progressing but other stuff keeps getting in the way
I've been working my way through changing all of the standard bushes for poly bushes this was not a choice as all the standard bonded rubber bushes are failing they are all original and I'm guessing the additional travel of the air ride setup was just too much for them something to bear in mind if anyone is considering this @cs2000 I have been media blasting the suspension arms before refitting, so doing a proper job.
still haven't got the front sensors fitted but I have fitted an additional small battery near the compressor as I was having some issues as it turns out the main battery was knackered which I have now changed but will leave the smaller one in because why not it's there now
