It could well have been heavily strategy assisted - Ferrari certainly got that right today - but they also appeared to have some performance to match the Merc today, which was good to see. Hopefully that competitiveness is not just the case at the high tyre degradation tracks, as Mr Brundle questioned - who raised the issue of tracks like China where the issue is getting heat in the tyres. Looking forward to the next race to see how it unfolds now.
I'm almost a little bit amused that Manor ultimately finished better than McLaren in the end too. It seems to be common opinion of those at track-side that McLaren have progressed and might be "satisfied" by that performance, but I just don't see it yet. Yes, there was less of a gap in qualifying, but the two qualifying sessions aren't exactly directly comparable now are they? And ultimately that "performance" is still embarrassing. They've got a long way to go yet!
