  1. If anyone is bidding, stop as I want it! It had a buy it now of £2k to start but I didn't click it and then bidding started so the buy it now was automatically removed
  2. I've decided against drifting the Zed, purely because it's my 'practical/comfy' car... I'll be getting another E36 drifter soon though Something I don't mind fitting buckets and a hydraulic handbrake in, don't want to ruin the Zed! That said, I do give it quite a bit of abuse, and will have to take it on track at some point....
  3. Good snaps. I have a Canon 500d and generally just a 28mm lens. I'm still in the 'all the gear, no idea' stage at the moment, but have a photography day to attend at some point when the weather improves. I understand the principles, just need to get it and practice!
  4. I had my Zed MOTd at halfords and a couple of other cars. As long as you stay with it It's fine but I wouldn't want one of the monkeys taking my car out for a 'road test'. They charged me £12 on top to adjust my headlights on the Zed a couple of months back which annoyed me. It's one bolt each side and I had to re-adjust them a couple of weeks later as I couldn't see a thing! Still £40 all in so couldn't complain.
  5. They'll fail on both emissions and no cats (they check whether cats are actually fitted as well now), they give you more sound and increased airflow. I have the same ones I think, and mine sounds awesome, but couldn't tell you what the rest of my exhaust system is to compare.
  6. Looks good! Look forward to seeing it fitted in the car with carpet. Out of interest, where are you putting the amp?
  7. Christian is a mate of mine, I've just sent him a message to see if he sold them.
  8. Part of me is thinking just leave it for now but the other part wants something. I'm most likely to go for a 2.1 with an amp which has more outputs to add more speakers in the future still, if I do go for something. That said, I'm sure anything will be 'better' than the TV speakers!
  9. Ah right fair point. Surely you'd still need the TV remote to switch it on/off anyway though?
  10. Just going on what the dude in the shop said. Would it make much difference?
  11. Good idea! Never even thought of that.. I popped into Richer Sounds yesterday and there was some nice kit in there as expected. It'd be around the £200 mark for a half decent AV Amplifier (so I can just keep my existing setup as is and just run an optical cable from the TV to amp) and either 5 small speakers or a pair of bookshelf speakers. The amplifiers of that budget do have 5 speaker outputs so I'm tempted to go for a pair of bokshelf speakers and upgrade in time.
  12. There's a massive tree down up my road, a good couple of feet in diameter and taller than the house. Also a house near me looks to have half fallen down! Over half the bricks on the front of the house have fallen along with a couple of window frames! I didn't think it was that bad but clearly is...
  13. Yeah as I said I've bought a few things from them before so need to pop in and have a chat with them
  14. Cheers, I do like that but don't think I'd use the bluetooth thing as I wouldn't play much music from my phone. If I went for something like that, would I connect the amp to PS3 and V+ box separately? Or could I connect the amp directly to the TV?
  15. Yeah good point, I'd go for quality over max volume.
  16. Yeah I don't really like the idea of active speakers or a computer setup as it'll be used for both music and movies so I want something a little better. Also a lot of packages come with a dvd/br player which is useless to me as I use the PS3 for that also. I will pop into richer sounds at some point over the week
  17. Yeah if I have to spend that sort of money to get a decent sound bar then I'm better off going for an amp and a couple of speakers for value for money.
  18. Interesting. I'll ask for a demo of a couple of soundbars as they're probably a good solution for a bedroom, space-wise.
  19. Forgot to mention that! I've seen these but don't know much about them. I'd definitely consider it if I could get the sound from both PS3 and V+ going through it! If I connected it to the TV (same question goes for the amp really), would the sound work fully? As the other boxes are currently connected to the TV via HDMI. Or do I need to connect each individual box to the amp/soundbar?
  20. Thanks for all the replies guys. Fortunately when I sold my last audio system I kept the speaker wires, and I went for some good stuff which is very thick. Probably (definitely) overkill for what I need but rather that than using something too slim and losing quality. I think I'll go for an amp and a pair of bookshelf (or maybe even floor standers again) for now. As said above, it's probably worth spending more on the speakers and just getting a mid-range amp for now, then adding more speakers and a better amp at a later date. I'll get myself does to richer sounds soon and have a look around!
  21. Yeah Richer Sounds is where I got my last stuff and is probably where I'll go. Why the blutac/isolation? I don't actually have a shelf for them to go on so it's likely they'll be going on the wall or on some sort of floor stands.
  22. I was thinking closer to a tenth of the first number Budget depends on what it is really. I have money, I just don't want to spend it all as I'm saving hard!
  23. I'm bored so looking into home audio. Just a bit bored of the 'standard' sound and fancy something a little more. I'd like to be able to play sound through my PS3 and a V+ virgin media box, which are both linked to my LG TV via HDMI. Is the best way just to link the TV to an amplifier, and then speakers off the amplifier? I'm not sure if both the PS3/V+ box would then play through these speakers? Or would I need to go from the PS3 to the amp, and from the V+ box to the amp separately? This is currently in my bedroom at the end of the bed so I'd probably go for a small setup (2.1) for now, but ideally with the possibility to upgrade (to 5.1) once I buy my own house. I used to have a Cambridge Audio amp with a couple of floor standing speakers but sold this a couple of years ago for some stupid reason. Partly because the floor standers took up quite a bit of room. This was quite a budget setup but the sound was great, from what I remember. Not really thought of a budget but the cheaper the better (as long as it's reasonable quality) as I'm saving to buy a house. Any opinions?? Cheers Sam
