  2. Hi not wishing to hijack the post but can you confirm the front and rear pictures shown above are for a face lift uk bose unit as i need to see if the wiring plugs are the same as for the pre facelift ,as i have all the parts for a full center console change to the later type but have quickly realised the stereo also is slightly shaped differently and dosent fit the later center console,so am looking to try and find a face lift bose to complete the upgrade ,Am also thinking i will have an issue with the NATS system and stereo code but i assume that can be overcome ?,or will i be the first to attempt that particular stereo swap. I do realise the alternative is to facia plate and aftermarket HU but i am OCD type and am determined to keep it OEM fit audio Any help greatly appriciated
  3. Black is available for the sun visors along with many other OEM interior parts from www.conceptzperformance.com if you willing to pay the price hope it helps
  4. you can expect a payout of 20% less than the standard non cat recorded price in most case, you will probably still be able to push against first low offer from the insurance claim handler who's job it is to try and settle at lowest cost to the company negotiation is wise and expected
  5. The trade insurance was not really a suggestion as a solution to your problem as they are as you say quite rightly very strict on proving genuine motor trade use ,and these days are suspicious of buisness without commercial premises .Although you dont have to be nessacerely buying and selling vehicles but any motor trade occupation where we need to drive customer vehicles ,or vehicles left in our care and custody .We need the public liability cover in any case ,but i guess the bonus is we cover all the vehicles owned by us on the same policy meaning i can own as many cars as i wish and they are all covered.Trade plates btw are not compulsory for trade Insurance they are merly portable road tax ,i dont need them in our work as all vehicles we have in are definatley taxed
  6. Well im 46 and seem to be enjoying my midlife crises with a 350Z thanks ,I must say you seem to be looking for an argument which im sure is coming .........
  7. The remote cable in out you refer to is surely the standard RCA type connector ? we also use those which carry a 12V feed inside with just a tail of a few inches either end which saves an unsightly extra single wire and just makes for a bit less work
  8. As you suggest for cover for many vehicles and upto a limit insurance group type cover is really in the realms of motor trade policy ,we can then drive any vehicles owned by ourselves or under our care and custody ,premiums vary as with all insurance quotes and can depend on far more variables than a standard motor policy but also include our premises, public liability ,tools ,business interuption etc ,for me and other friends in trade 2K seems average. These days the main insurers do seem to be quite definite on proving genuine traders rather than people trying to use trader policy for privet type use ,having premises and workshops etc but as i am motor trade does mean i can have a nice choice of toys which would not be possible otherwise
  9. plenty of vehicles fitted with cameras front and rear both sides and internal these days so not a crazy idea ,although mostly these are fitted with a view to recording for incident evidence ,RTC ,security ,passenger or driver protection etc. First thing i note on the rear view camera spec is that it operates on NTSC which is not usual for the Uk checking the intended front camera spec it is usual PAL type ,you may find your HU can deal with both but is usual that even if so then you would use setup to select ONE mode only for use at once maybe you should check before install. Also the normal rear view set up would be auto switching via a 12v feed switching on when revers is selected which would then activate screen camera input this is usually done via reverse light circuit ,you could do as you say and run a 12v feed via a switch if that was something you wished to do, same on the front really but with only 1x camera input you would just need to split the video iinput with an adapter most are usually RCA type so would be easy enough Whats the real use for the front camera if i may ask ?
  10. In the motor trade good stock can sometimes be found in the private classified add at better price than auctions ,especially more specialised cars like 350z
  11. As some one in the car trade ,i susoect thats a big chip from the ask price might go the £450 but suprised if you can get much further ,good luck tho worth a try
  12. Hi ,I might be interested in the complete interior center console if its the later one from the facelift wih the hazard light switch att the front as i want to try and retro fit it into my 54 GT .If its there and complete how much would you want, thanks
  13. The cheap OPcom will not usually harm the control modules ,its the possibility of you playing or reprogramming them thats the risky part. the CIM module for example stores the vehicle variant codes ,and the imobiliser stores and checks immo codes and security codes matching and checking with the dash cluster / engine ecu /audio head unit / dis screen and cim module if you wipe or change the info in a module the car will no longer start. All can be very good if you know what you doing but a disaster if you dont. Your zafira will have minimum 15 control modules and more on a higher spec or auto model each individually accessed via the software ,also high ,mid and low speed canbus data can be monitered and configuration altered.
  14. no such thing as a cheap tech2 vauxhall diag but the next best thing would be Vauxcom which is near full dealer tool and would have tech backup and updates available ,have a look at ilexa.co.uk website The only cheap type tool would be a cracked chineses version usually found on the net especially on the usual auction site .... likely search for opcom. all these would require use of your own laptop to run the software and interface, and please especially if you use an unofficial bit of kit be carefull and make sure you know what you are doing as they read and write to the vehicle ecu's ,very dangerous in a novice hands
  15. +1 on nap,I also have a trade account and can obtain much larger discounst than 25% as above we can haggle even further on the prices they do quote us ,but for sure i would be choosey what parts we use from Euro parts ,cworkshop consumables are fine suspension and ball joints can be ok but have shorter life than OEM or equivalent parts ,As for clutchs i not buy any again to much trouble ,also have issues with parts warranty very hard to get any resolution on dispute so be wary
  16. I agree totally there is no evidence you were doing in excess of 100 mph ......Until i publicly admited to the offence of doing in excess of 100 mph on a public internet forum !!! P.S dont worry the bloke was just trying to sh1t you up
  17. mmmm I have actually been thinking of trying something along these lines myself as i want OEM look ,cant believe you might save me the job of trying it out, which TBH i would love to do but just allways overloaded with work and havent had the time Will watch this hopeing for a result
  18. before i think about haveing an uprev done what do you experts think regarding the cars mileage ie if the car is up in the 80's or 90's thou would it be asking for trouble or make no real difference to the engine ? .Does it improve or worsen the mpg?, not that i would really care other than i might try and convince myself it will pay for itself over time and what does the uprev cost to have done, thanks
  19. Thanks Ricey you cheered my day ,brilliant might even send it to my local council
  20. MMM i just had to do this course 5 weeks ago and actually raised the question with the guy running our group ,he was not very pleased to have the point raised as to weather this was becoming a standard question from insurers at renewal ,i only asked as i had been advised from people in our trade that had similar experience with this practice from insurers. I stated that the one major factor in decideing to attend the course was the fact that no points and no insurance premium increase was likely and that if this ceases to be the actual case many people would choose not to do the course leaving him and his friends out of a job and the whole practice pointless, his answer was that insurance companies are after all commercial business's over which they have no control . He was very clear however when pushed on the point regarding declaration that a speed awareness course had been attended. If asked the question "have you attended a speed awarness course " you absolutly must answer the question truthfully regardless of the fact that they cannot supposedly find out if you have been on such a course. it would if you lied be the same effectively as answering any other insurance proposal question untruthfully,so what do you think now ?
  21. I dont even know Dave but would have to say "full support and respect" ,no im not a young one either middle aged ! but brought up in the old school ways ,i would consider the problem resolved to the satisfaction of all parties no further action required
  22. yes mate the heater control panel was a straight swap over was actually going to fit it along with the gear stick surround panel that its mounted in till i realised it was a different colour so just swapped out the dials which was a plug and play change over so refitted in the original suround panel,it look much cleaner and more modern only the center colur of the dials is a lighter grey colour but all the illumination is same colour .asked a few random people in the workshop and all prefered the look of the later unit so its staying in Is that a straight swap?
  23. Removed the air con / heater controls from my uk 54 GT and replaced with the later 2007 set ,looks much tider and mor modern imho ,i would swap out the whole center console for the 2007 style if i could find one but no luck so far
  24. perhaps you could PM me some prices Alex
