  1. A chap recently was asking about Scandic trips - maybe he's got some further ideas? http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/95588-road-trip-scandinavia/
  2. Well done boys. Car DIY, even with a few trials and tribulations of the stuck bolt variety, is always satisfying and fun
  3. Merc also have Niki Lauda. It would be nice to think it was some of his divine magic that was giving an edge.. And with Toto as the boss, domination is certain Very strong team having their time in the sun. Good luck to them, but everyone else must do better, and turn the cycle again.
  4. Yeah, what was that all about with the wheel changes? And those engines really sound rubbish on tick over - like DC or someone? said in commentary - Massey Fergusson tractors..
  5. Of course, the thing to do is not wee in your seat Stu I'll get me coat..
  6. Lol.. F1 Highlights on BBC - literally the only program apart from Top Gear on BBC that I watch for my mandatory licence fee Henney's cider from Waitrose/Ocado - very good stuff BTW
  7. I didn't think it was *that* bad. I was cooking an epic lamb roast and drinking cider all the way through Come on you Williams/Honda/McLaren/Button and toothy Ricciardo. Can't let those pesky Germs have it all their own Dominating way. Stiff upper lip... tally ho..
  8. I agree with Gareth - Very nice those haematite colour dark/black shadow chrome effects
  9. Yeah, the dipstick plug is a bit of a fiddle to get to. US style 3/16" (iirc) AF Hex allen is the possibly best way - or a small socket on a bendy drive. TBH I've not got round to changing it yet - but it's due in the next week or so. My oil came with a spout - the filler plug is pretty easy to get to though Here is a guide if you need it http://www.superchargersonline.com/index.php?main_page=page&id=55
  10. Some very nice engine bling going on there Good colours
  11. Yeah - how do you do that on an iPad or Mac? Je sui un software engineer and I can't seem to work it out * * gonna be obvious now I've said that
  12. Oh yes, like a rocket.. I will probably wait for the 3.12 until after I have put the sensors in though
  13. My guess is that it's the EVAP canister cover (see the pipes in the background - last pic). Rusty
  14. It's spring, it's sunny and I've got time off I decided it was time to attend to the lurking issue in my fuel bucket. Symptoms were AFR starting to lose richness at high consumption rates / rpm / boost and a decidedly squidgy cold start (starts first time but she took about 6-7 cranks, then spluttered into life rather than bursting - although fine when running). The theory was partial loss of fuel pressure - probably the regulator plug O ring was leaking. So I went investigating... I pulled my bucket out and apart, and carefully pulled the plug out and.. voila.. (the big O ring is correct and present but not in this pic BTW) The instructions said use the original O ring and spacer from the OEM regulator - the small one on the regulator was far to big IMHO to fit the plug groove - but in my kit there was no replacement, so in it went, and when I got grumpy with it first time round, it obviously split. A new more appropriately sized O ring fitted from my £7 box of O rings and.. Bunged this back in, making especially sure it went correctly in the hole this time.. I put the new revised (smaller hole and proper thread) elbow in too.. All back together nicely, with a brand new tank O ring and with a bit of dynax S50 where the petrol flood took the tank paint off Idle pressure back to where it should be (it was gradually sinking over time, down to about 40 PSI and FPR adjustment didn't help with a bucket leak..) Starting is cured and properly positive - when I go back to Abbey for a re-tune if I change to the 3.12 pulley, all should be well. This should also fix the kink at the top of my 3.33 power curve - got to be worth the extra missing 20 HP for a nice round 400 hub-HP (440 estimated fly-HP like the Vortech V3ers out there) As part of the sensors project, I added a fuel pressure sender (whopper) Then just as I was going to continue with sensors wiring, I got side tracked in a really bad way. Many MANY hours later with a mains powered Black & Decker and a couple of wire wheels, this happened.. So these strut bars go shiny - who knew? Polishing.. ..that is all..
  15. I'd highly recommend Norway - we had an outstanding holiday driving the wife's civic between Fjords and mountains a few years back. Just find a rocky patch on the map (Geringer and Voss areas are nice) and drive there - it's all stunning. German camper vans are a bit of an annoyance though, as they bimble very slowly up the few narrow roads. We got there by Jupiter Line ferry from Newcastle into Bergen. Rather a shame that that service has stopped running, as it was an overnight hoot. Norwegian food is a bit hit and miss though - be careful with the sausages (which look like Bratwurst) - I swear the ones we bought were pure (revolting) whale blubber. Off topic, but Iceland (hire car 4WD Skoda this time) is also a great Scandic destination - although obviously further out - it's a much bigger island that you'd think, and speed limits are low, so getting around takes ages. Very cool driving along over a warm ex-lava outflow one minute, then going over a bluff and round a corner to drive in icy frozen glacial outflow the next.. And glaciers in a river lagoon.. and puffin for dinner..
  16. Book 'em Dano.. I have indeed reached a number that the Hawaiian Police Authority would be proud of. When asked by the wife what I wanted as a present to celebrate this personal milestone, I suggested we paid halves on a very much needed front end respray, as it's what I really-really want.. Unfortunately, that went down like a lead ballon - she'll have nothing to do with buying trinkets for the metal mistress Ahh well
  17. Seriously interesting (academia), but the pay is rubbish
  18. Research Engineer at a university, assisting with data analysis and technology, primarily supporting research into African carnivore biomechanics and ecology.
  19. Gurgle. Kind words I'm using one of these http://www.hobbytron...rial-display-18 Its a little serial chappie which can display different character sizes, colours, draw lines, circles and even display images from an sd card - just give it a command sequence and bingo. I've written a few classes to handle formatted printing with no hassle, and a Jap Banzi flag for boot up To be honest, the Arduino Due has reputedly 100Mips of performance - plenty to do any implementation really. I must revisit the code at some point.
