June/July 2012 Replaced clutch with Exedy clutch and OEM flywheel (dual mass), replaced Bose headunit with Pioneer AppRadio2 Clutch stuff: Love the very Japanese cartoons on the boxes Headunit: Out with the old - In with the new Edit: Updated my wiring to work with iPhone5. Note the old style connector doesn't work with this setup.

Cheers guys. Im really happy with the wheels. Glad I spotted Octet selling them!

Thanks The AppRadio was a bit flakey with my old Samsung Galaxy S2 (think the connection on the bottom of the phone was a bit dodgy) but since moving to an iPhone 5 and updating the software its been solid as a rock. Couple of annoyances, you cannot use and iPod or the radio and Smartphone (apps) at the same time, just one or the other. The other is that the way you have to connect up an iPhone 5 means you can no longer use the old style iPod connector at the same time.

02/11/19 - The car has now been sold on ----------------- Back in May 2012 I was finally able to afford to buy my dream car, a big, quick, rear wheel drive, Japanese sports car. At the time I was torn between a Mk4 Supra or the 350Z. From my research, both were roughly on par in terms of performance in stock form and both had good reliability making them a nice base platform for modifications. The more modern car swung it for me in the end. And the colour! I never intended to buy a limited edition 350Z but when it came up, fairly local, in my price range, and in excellent condition it was too hard to resist. Part of me regrets not getting a normal 350 as I'm in a constant internal battle between going all out on the modifications or leaving it stock / OEM+ because its limited edition. So far mods have been kept fairly subtle. ----------------- Purchase After a couple of months searching I stumbled on a yellow GT4. I'd read about the GT4's but never expecting to find one in my price range, 20-something miles from me, with full Nissan history, almost new MOT, no dents (door dings), perfect interior and only 40k on the clock. Off I went to view the car. After a very thorough inspection, test drive and chat with the dealer, I left a very happy man and £350 (deposit) lighter. After the test drive I must have spent a good hour just sort of staring at the car, calm and collected on the outside, screaming internally because I just wanted to take it there and then. There were a couple of minor problems, the car was due a P1, tax was about to expire, it needed new brake pads, the clutch was on its way out but would last a bit longer before it would start slipping, it had some stone chips and the Bose CD changer was temperamental to say the least. Before the deposit was taken the dealer agreed to give it a P1 equivalent service, fit new brake pads and knock six months tax off the price. They also tried to fix the Bose head unit (which they did and it worked for about 2 weeks!) and touched up (very professionally I might add) the majority of stone chips. Two or three days later after blagging the day off work to collect, the missus and I arrived to see my little beauty up on ramps having its pads changed. Paid up, limped to a petrol station with the DTE reading '-----' and then set off into the sunset (kinda). Of course all good stories have their sad moments and a couple of months after purchase I had to sell my pride and joy at the time, a 1997 Mk2 Rev4 Toyota MR2. It was a sad day to see her go. I should have just kept it. ----------------- Day of collection: And how she looks now: ----------------- Changes/Mods/Replacements complete (in date order): June/July 2012 - Replaced clutch with Exedy clutch and OEM flywheel (dual mass), replaced Bose headunit with Pioneer AppRadio2 Sept 2012 - New tyres - Falken 452's all round, Dec/Jan 2013 - Nismo gear knob, 380RS pedal, 350Z floor mats, gas bonnet lifters, stubby aerial (Civic aerial) March 2013 - Aftermarket alarm with remote start April 2013 - 20/25 Eibach spacers, TaperPro gold lug and locking nuts June 2013 - P3 service, braided clutch hose and new slave cylinder to fix the sticky clutch problem, HKS drop in panel filter, remove boot weight to stop it eating me July 2013 - Boot divider Aug 2013 - Remove spacers and fit 19" gloss black LMGT4 alloys (19x8.5 ET25 front, 19x9.5 ET30 rear), clear LED reflectors and LED bulbs (internal, side, number plate, side indicator lights), silver front indicators Sept 2013 - Fit reverse camera, relocate drivers heated seat button, aero wiper blades Nov 2013 - Painted brake fluid and battery cover lettering in yellow, fitted carbon fibre air diversion plate. Don't worry mate, you're not the oldest. I said you're not the oldest. There are plenty older than you. I said there are plenty older than you. ...he is the oldest really, but don't tell him (he'll never see this). This is useful not just for the old chavs but anyone with an un-bunged JapSpeed
-
Met you at Japex this morning mate. Was good to chat to you but forgot to ask your forum name! Matt

Not what it means round your neck of the woods. I think a chav (chavvie) daaaaaan saaaaafff is a young kid. Up north is a hoodie wearing member of the underclass who will usually be equipt with a cheap bag of weed, track suit, probably a very blunt knife from his mums kitchen draw and a truly horrendous STI riddled 'Julie' on his arm. They will usually be sporting the local ner do well accent regardless of where they live. For example a chav from chester will have a plastic scouse accent. They are cretins of the first order. around my neck of the woods they dress the same as above but try and talk that bullshit london accent that is becoming more common, like that of dizzee rascal etc. even though their born and raised in rickmansworth, in a 5 bed house and their parents are doctors or accountants or whatever You cant be too far from me then
-
Now I think about it, I might be being a little harsh on car above. At least its body kit is the same colour as the car...just about...
-
Sums up chavs round where I live. Generally found frequenting car parks late at night in something like this...
-
Im no better at 23 I remember when I got mine, the dealer wouldn't let me test drive it until I'd put a deposit down! I was 20, but still Bit harsh! Wasn't as bad for me but the dealer insisted of driving it down away from his garage before I was allowed to drive it myself! He also asked a couple of times if I had my driving license on me. After he chilled out a bit though he was encouraging me to give it the beans! That's how you sell a car, tell the test driver 'yeah just floor it'

Number 163 here if you wanna updatemy name with my forum name

Nope unless they are fakes/replicas. They don't. Probably a typo or owner just go it wrong. (source = http://www.nismo.co....l/aluminum.html) Love the car though. Looks really nice even with the decals.
-
Love that kit, hurry up and get it painted so we can see the end result!
-
Might not live to see 35 starting the year off like that Happy birthday, glad to see you are having a gooden.
-
Good luck! Off topic but... Why do we have this as a smiley? I mean its cool and all... but, why?

Had the same problem (only in the cold though), removing the weight helps a lot so another vote for that

I normally wave at other 350 drivers but only if I catch their attention (being bright yellow helps ). Some people seem to get a bit freaked out by it like the bloke in Harpenden the other day. Both of us sat in traffic going opposite ways, When we got pretty much level I looked over to give a wave but he straight up blanked me. You know that look when they know you are looking at them, but they pretend you are not there. Never mind. Of the handful of times I've seen other 350's probably 80% have waved/flashed back. When I had my MR2 though, pretty much any other MR2 owner would flash or wave.
-
Love the Nismo 370Z. Wonder if the blank mirrors with the red pinstripe would suite my 350Z...
-
They don't. Probably a typo or owner just go it wrong. (source = http://www.nismo.co.jp/en/products/competition/wheel/aluminum.html) Love the car though. Looks really nice even with the decals.

That's nothing, my DTE was reading '-----' when I collected mine! The place had a petrol station right next door but no premium petrol. Risked the journey a few miles down the road to Tesco's for some 99 stuff. Zed can be surprisingly frugal when it needs to be. Wallet took a bit of a battering and I bottled out of filling her right up when the pump hit £95. On topic: Trade Link have/have had some very nice cars. Seen a couple when I've taken my Zed down to Japex. Also Japex (who have a really good reputation) do all the servicing/repairs on their cars so you can be confident (if the car needs it) the service/repairs have been done to a high standard with proper parts!

Epic plug Looks like you have plenty of choice, let us know what you decide to do!
-
Based on the photos on his facebook (https://www.facebook.../john.varney.01) and above (whoops missed that post!) looks like someone might have have done it already.
-
Had a Longlife system too, it was on my MR2 and was very pleased with their service and quality of the exhaust. More pricey than a non-custom exhaust but you do at least get to choose how it looks and sounds
-
I cant say I have actually noticed any difference with/without but I do a lot of town driving so mines a lot lower than it could be anyway!
