  1. I had a similar thing with DHL who insisted that an item had been " delivered" and "signed for". It was only when I told them that the cctv didn't show a DHL van on my road that day let alone near my house and demanded the driver's details for a theft complaint with the Police, that they remarkably managed to find my item!
  2. Very nice indeed Graham! When you say "road going" is that all running, mot and driving?
  3. Cheers guys. @Aliveboy, that's the very reason I decided to go for the ethanol free racing fuel. It's the ethanol that absorbs moisture and destroys everything. 3 year shelf life and smells like petrol used to.
  4. Don't know, "Hammer" is definitely in there too.
  5. And I was thinking you'd just melted a hole in it. The "bump" you refer to is called a beading swage. There is also a handy little too for making a pipe swage if Santa's list isn't finished yet. You can probably make one (tool) on your lathe though with a male and female part.
  6. Any bigger and it starts to restrict flow through the rad. It's what Eagle use but the lightweight E types went to a dry sump system and a completely different front end set up. Then again they are a million plus. Google "hole swage", it swages the hole and makes the bracket a lot stronger. Really useful things to have. You can still use your hydraulic press.
  7. Looking good. What you need for Christmas is a nice little hole swager set
  8. Just for Chris . Carbs back on and all throttle linkages now rose jointed. This means I now have, fuel, oil, water, exhaust and nearly electrics. Engine cranks and oil pressure showing on new wet oil gauge. I am now tantalisingly close to firing her up but alas working this weekend. Next post will be video of her running, promise.
  9. Cheers mate, inspiration I've got, it's the huge amounts of cash and time I'm short of Have I missed me? You know I've missed you in that special kind of way The air intakes look very smart by the way.
  10. Didn't see it but seems like a good selection of nice cars.
  11. For what it's worth Dan, it definitely looks better on yours than on the mini at the beginning of the clip.
  12. Not entirely true Dan, mine's a five speed manual, 300bhp and weighs less than a a 350z.
  13. The North is where a small flurry of snow doesn't bring everything to a standstill.
  14. Seriously though guys, check your oil.
  15. "This is my safety,sir"
  16. I think it's all in the mind and how you feel or "bond" with a particular car. I (over) stretched myself to buy an exotic Italian car and would drive it listening for every little strange noise and worrying about where I parked it. To be honest I never really enjoyed it worrying instead about a massive repair build. The 911 before that, I would just jump in and enjoy without even worrying it was going to break down. This was before the Internet even existed to panic me. Jumping to present day, driving my wife's Mercedes I had to be towed off a busy motorway because the throttle pedal decided it didn't want to talk to the ecu. Now I can't drive the thing without thinking it's going to happen again and having flashbacks of nearly being killed on the outside lane of the M6. My old Seat diesel I'd happily drive to the South of France without even checking the oil. Happily for me the Zed fell into the jump in and enjoy category. All in the mind
  17. You are in good hands now with Ebized. Thanks for answering the questions. It would appear that you are still at the consultation stage and that no actual "decision" has been made yet. A bit late for Rabbitstew but, my only advice to others, and I'm surprised your architect didn't mention this, is apply for more than you want and let them knock you back at consultation and revise your plans back to what you actually want. That way they think they have won. It's all a big game. All the best with it and don't get too stressed, just build a massive "garage / games room" complete with bar, shower room etc, waite a while, apply for change of use and join it to the main house with a nice glass corridor.
  18. On the contrary my dear friend, they merely refused his to draw attention away from all the others where brown envelopes, masonic handshakes and "favours" were involved!
  19. You say the new extension will "only be 14m Sq bigger than the existing one" When was the original extension built and did it have planning permission? If so were any stipulations applied regarding further development? Were you advised by the planning department that you definitely needed planning permission? Would the new one not come under your permitted development rights? Do you live in a conservation area? If the only reason for the refusal and I'm assuming you have a definite "decision", is over development, as Hugh says and based on the information already given, I would be inclined to appeal. Again as mentioned Ebized is your man.
  20. Oh and rad in with twin modern brushless fans and adjustable temp sender unit. Getting that bit closer to firing her up!
  21. Cheers guys. The wiring is slow going but I've found it both confusing and rewarding. Every spade or terminal crimped, soldered and heat shrieked. All the wires different colours that now mean something... all a bit more organised and logical. Anyway moving on. A few additional pics of more interesting stuff. Oil cooler plumbed in, pipes routed neatly, modern alternator and circuit breaker hidden in original housing.
  22. It is indeed the V12 that has the fan shaped tips. The straight six E types had twins. Made by the same company, hopefully mine should sound like this... Skip to 1m30s...
  23. Chris, Doogy and others, Thanks, feel like I'm getting somewhere at last. Need to get the engine up and running again in the car, that will be a big day!
