    Advice

In 2012 I used to do a 80 mile round trip from London to Tunbridge Wells and back in my Z for a full year (contract I had at the time with AXA). I got about 30 mpg on the motorway and was a better alternative to the train which was even more expensive than fuel costs I think. Was a much more fun way of getting to work - yes it put a lot of miles that year but now working in the city I'm only doing about 2000 miles a year as a weekend car so in time it might balance out in the end.
  2. Probably if the limiter is taken off but if not both 155! 370Z would definitely be faster (all things being equal to a 350Z) - more power equals higher top speed (don't even think weight is a major factor here)
  3. That sounds pretty cheap for the significant gains to be had - let us know how it goes. My Z is ten years old this year so may have to treat her
  4. Don't you mean 1985 lol better check that flux capacitor!
  5. Stuarty did a good run but mine had next to no cars on the road, noticed he passed a lorry etc so its always a risk if they don't keep in lane. Basically I would only do it if the autobahn is pretty much 100% clear.
  6. You're right! Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk I think he means if your doing 170mph you are catching a car in front of you doing 100mph at a closing speed of 70mph So the same as hitting a stationary car at motorway speeds. I don't think its quite the same but not going to try it. Yes sorry my bad this is what I meant! (wrote it too early this morning my excuse for not being so clear )
  7. Best get back out there an at least get another 2mph lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I may give it a try but would prefer to do it on a abandoned track like Top Gear do. Going at 170 mph means even a car doing 100 mph is flying at 70 mph toward you, almost like you doing the national speed limit and another stationary car. That Z4 only got to 249 kph (155mph) which is average for a german car
  8. 168 mph in Europe a couple of years ago on the longest flattest road you'd ever see. Still have it tripped in my Sat NAV, was still pulling but I chickened out (shame as had loads more clear road for about 10 miles!)
  9. Just buy the best battery you can afford, will save you a lot of grief! Not sure about minimum requirements.
  10. Got a Halfords Calcium battery (HC) around £70ish which is better than their lead acid (HB) type. Awesome charge it holds, can play the ICE loud and not have the engine running for a good couple of hours (impressive given the number of electronics boxes in my zed).
  11. Sorry to hear your loss! I do think the zed is a fantastic bargain though and probably could be kept as a second car without breaking the bank. That's why I've never been tempted to sell mine, what I would get I can make in a couple of months really so it's never crossed my mind. Maybe start looking at some zed's down the line after awhile then
  12. Can recommend Kaizer and Micheldever for being very good too.
  13. On a related note when I bought my zed the dealer only gave 1 key and the locker storage key. Now I'm amazed 4 years later I haven't lost it but the sensible side of me says I should get another made. Can anyone recommend where I can get one from and how much I should expect to pay?
  14. That would be it then, I remember when I got mine done they did offer a few paint finishes. I think yours is a similar colour as the Nissan GTR alloys.
  15. That's a fair price, not sure how they charged me £100ish for one Rota GTR 19" in 2012. Work was good but may have to pull the receipt if I still have it and have words with them. Yours looks nice by the way if a touch on the dark side for my tastes.
  16. I've had one alloy refurbished at Lepsons but found them expensive. How much was it all round?
  17. I think the OP has been unlucky, the Z is surprisingly cheap to run and maintain if you know where to go. I'd say it's as cheap as my previous Celica VVTI with half the horse power. I reckon the previous owner didn't care for it as he should have. I've had my zed for just under 4 years and it's been so reliable I don't think I'll ever get rid of her!
  18. Don't be put off by non-BOSE completely as it's only slightly better than stock stereo system anyway, plus the connectors for the BOSE sub are non-standard, so can't be paired easily to aftermarket kit in case you do go down the aftermarket route, it's better not to have it in the first place. Nothing like seeing the car in the metal but I'd say it's overpriced slightly but could probably knock down the price with some negotiation. Keep looking though, the more you see the better.
  19. The GUI is starting to show its age though compared to newer ones but it's served me well. I was considering Pioneer but was a bit more expensive and black. Changing the OEM unit is a must if you love audiophile sound, mine was terrible! Here's a couple more pics I took today of my sub and power amp, which I tried to match with the silver Z plaque::
  20. Here's my Kenwood DDX -6029 screen, liked the minimalist design and the fact that the screen fills out to create a thin bezel. Matches the colour pretty well too, only sticks out a cm but shot at an angle.
  21. I hate hearing about these sort of things, people are so careless. I had a very mild scuff of my zed when it was parked once but pretty much polished out. Other than that I've been lucky in coming up to 4 great years of zed ownership. My last celica got vandalised twice keys once on one whole side, serious £££ to repray. Anyway hope you get some sort of result mate.
  22. Thanks guys I like the OEM guide but I think I'll just order the ones of eBay as I've noticed my OEM ones are a bit knackered and have a bit of a gap on one side. SuperStu: How easy was it to fit? Cheers
  23. Can recommend Kaizer Motors, will be taking my Zed there regularly from now on!
  24. Hi I'm looking for a clear rear fog light to replace the red one on the back of an OEM 350Z, let me know if you have any.
  25. Not sure that pic is not mine, but I will post mine up. The screen has a various 'tilt' options so might tilt out naturally for this to work for best viewing angles, although I'm sure mine looks better than that one.
