  1. Cheers I really love the look on the car and the extra grip / traction is apparent . I'm guessing the 19" Rota GTRs are about the same weight as the 18" OEMS? Also does anyone know if autosol is a bit too abrasive to use on the GTRs? I was tempted to use it when I polished my Milltek but wasn't sure and so just used carnauba gold wax!
  2. Just wanted to say BIG thanks to CS for supplying 19" Rota GTRs in super quick time and answering all my queries, had them a couple of weeks now and very happy The car needed a wash today with all the salt grit on the roads from the snow, used a bit of normal car body carnauba wax to polish and protect them, hopefully that will keep them clean for longer: Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  3. Have to say the Rota GTRs are my favourite wheels for the 350Z. I have stock OEMs at the moment but on my last car (mk7 celica) I had OZ Canyons which were great. Love OZ but don't think many fit the zed!
  4. Thanks RTBiscuit and Ekona for the tips, and everyone else who has contributed to the thread! I agree the wheels are the best place to lose weight and upgrading the brake system. I still think, for me at least, that ditching the spare wheel is worth it as I have never had a flat tyre in ten years of driving (so as a risk assessment it's not worth lugging it around) and I only drive locally now most of the time. The other benefit of this is that after removing the spare wheel, I now have more boot space! I will get some pics to illustrate this, it is much deeper now. I think people might get my wrong, in that I am not planning to tear up the roads, just wanted to get rid of as much dead weight as possible. I applaud Wasso and others who has substantially loss weight in their Zeds. I agree it's not something you might notice but every little does count. At the moment I am running Falken FK452s and I can't fault them, they may be cheaper than other brands but I honestly think they are just as good as my previous Pirelli P Zeros I had. I don't like the look of the Enkie RPF01's too much, and I wanted to eventually get 19s, I had my eye on the Rota GTRs Now I know you will say well 19s will be almost as heavy as my 18s but I have noticed I tend to wheel spin sometimes on slippery days so the extra width of rubber is all good. Plus the lower profile tyre should in theory allow better handling, albeit at the expense of a little ride comfort. Do any of you guys have the Rota GT-Rs, what do you think of them?
  5. I have installed a fair amount of kit into my car and like my creature comforts so I definitely need stuff like AC and leather seats, I just wondered if there was anything else that I could easily do to shed some weight. I don't see the point of the spare wheel as I don't think you can fit the spare wheel on the Zed anyway, so it's basically dead weight (and yes a breakdown service is insurance). Being a technical person I think every little helps so while it seems pointless I think all these small things could at least make something more than you think. I don't plan on changing the Zed as I love the car way too much, I've had her since May last year but I have driven fast cars for a long time thanks to my dad and count myself as a experienced and natural driver. I have EBC yellow stuff which is at least better than my old brakes. I used to have a celica mk7 before the Zed and while not much grunt, you could certainly fling it round corners at silly speeds with no need for traction or other gizmos, the Zed is good around corners too but shedding more weight could make it better. I did think about the balance of the car and upsetting it by taking it all out from the wrong place, maybe the battery is the only area in the front where I can shed a bit more weight. I would love to weigh my Zed just to see where I am at! :lol:Thanks for the honest opinions!
  6. It's not for the track, this is my everyday car. I've always considered any weight reduction a big plus as it will give you benefits that a handful of horses can never give, such as handling and cornering advantages, better fuel consumption. Are there lighter doors you can really install, are they colour matched? I don't have Rays, just the OEM alloys which I read on another thread is significantly heavier and extra unsprung weight. cheers for the feedback
  7. Hi I've managed to search and follow a few weight saving tips already, mainly I've lost weight with a new (Milltek) exhaust and Berk HFCs so there's at least some significant weight reduction there. I've also ditched the spare wheel and tools, next on the list is definitely alloys as I have 18" OEMs which are relatively heavy, but after that I am a bit lost as to where I can save some more weight. I know the battery could be the next area, but after that I'm clutching at straws - what else have you guys done to save some pounds? I was thinking about seats too but I love my orange leathers too much! Any advice welcome, I have a non-GT Zed!
  8. Thanks a bunch for those links. Nice one dude, I remember seeing the LEDs somewhere before but wasn't sure the type! I would like to try the baking thing in the guide but I'm afraid I would screw it up somehow. Anyone want to sell a clear rear fog light as I don't like any of the aftermakret ones I've seen?
  9. I'm looking to do the clear rear mod, it does bug me that the red reflector doesn't quite look right the way it is and think it looks so much better with clear reflectors at the back. I know I can get the clear rear reflectors off eBay but if I can get all the necessary of here or info on the LED bulb needed, so much the better.

    350 to 370

I was surprised the 370Z got quite a poor/average rating in a recent Which car magazine I have somewhere. "Verdict 59% - The stunning 370Z is a thorough rework of the old 350Z sports car. Nissan's brawny V6 engine now produces even more thrills, but driving this car demands concentration: it's noisy, the clutch is heavy, visibility poor and handling a challenge in the wet" I'm also a bit disappointed that the weight of the car is no different to the original and consequently is only half a sec quicker to 60. I would expect sub 5 second performance by now.
  11. Problem I found with the Japspeed apart from poor fitment issues is that the Y pipe and diameter bore size is basically the same as OEM, take the Y-pipe for instance, it is advertised as a direct bolt on replacement and has the same bore as the OEM, so any gains are minimal. Try and go for a decent 3" bore size throughout the exhaust, tailpipes should be 4". I think K2 tailpipe is 4" but Japspeed Y-pipe bore is 2.5" like OEM, the Scorpion backbox looks very much OEM so that could be a good thing for most people (should be a few Scorpion threads on here).
  12. I easily got approx 25 HP with those kind of mods when I got the UpRev (Milltek full exhaust, Motordyne plenum spacer, HKS Panel filter, Berk HFCs) and could have done a bit more with say a Velocity stack or an 06 airbox on my 04 276 Zed! I think you're basing it too much on your 297 BHP model, I think the 276 model yields better gains TBH. (I am basing approx 300 @ the fly by the fact I get 256.7 at the wheels, at around 15% driveterain loss that sounds about right to me) very rarely has any of the 276 models cleared the 300ps mark with ease. The mods you have are all very good mods and expensive. The total bill will be much more than the 1k this owner was thinking about. The 25hp difference doesnt make the car feel alot faster, maybe a bit more responsive and to the butt dyno it may feel alot faster. Ive trawled all the dyno threads and rarely seen 300hp on the 276 without spending more money that its worth i'm afraid. Remember every dyno reads differently so the actual accuracy is a thing to remember also. If you want a really fast car dont buy a zed, simples. Agree with you on the subtle difference but I think it is significant as long as you don't expect too much and just thought it was a bit misleading to say you would never get to the 300 mark, I think it can be done fairly easily if you choose the right mods, and yes it is variable as you say. It won't be cheap and it's up to the buyer if they think it's worth it but the OP said he wasn't expecting massive gains and he has a Milltek backbox already and he possibly may have other parts of the exhaust (IIRC Milltek only comes as a full package but earlier zorsts may have let you buy indiviudaly), so he maybe half way there in a way. I would add Berk HFCs, Mortordyne plenum spacer, and a velocity stack on top of that.

  14. Hi would you be interested in a px with OEM 18" 350Z alloys (6 spoke)?
  15. Just wondered how do these compare/differ from the Berk HFCs (which I believe are also metal substrate)?
  16. Thanks for the advice, might as well keep em i guess but not bad for scrap price. May need it to pass an MOT someday. Funny how Nissan charge around £1000 odd for this stock
  17. Anyone after some OEM cats? Still available.
  18. I have a pair of OEM cats for sale, very good condition and working order: £140 for the pair Also have an OEM new and unused spare wheel + tyre: £70 [sold pending collection] Prices are for collection from South London only.

    Exhaust weights

    Taken from the 350z-tech wiki: Component Weight (each) Weight (total) Manifolds 7 14 Catalytic Converters 23 46 Y Pipe 16 16 Mid Pipe 12 12 Muffler 34 34 Total Weight 122
  21. I actually paid £900 which included free fittingn from AMD so that's a good price! I still think it's worth the money though, I was thinking of the Scorpion backbox with a Japspeed y-pipe and that would have come to about £600 and that is without the mid pipe. I was put off with fitment issues with Japspeed stuff and didn't want to take a risk, you pay what you get for! The Milltek was the neatest solution for me. HFCs will be fitted next week
  22. From what I have seen and heard I think the closer you get to a full ‘race’ type of exhaust set up, which will typically include HFCs, Decats etc as well as an aftermarket backbox, then you WILL be getting more rasp. I have the Milltek exhaust which I believe is similar in tone to the Nismo and will be getting Berk HFCs installed in a couple of weeks so will post my findings. I like a bit of rasp, although not overly so.
  23. Okay will bring the car with my normal fuel, thanks. Less than 2 weeks to go and I can't wait now. Will be going to Europe (Amsterdam) on the weekend after so it WILL get a good workout
