  1. Attempt at battery tray removal... half out, the other half needs a new dremel blade The plan was to wait and swap the spare vq in but I have a spare intercooler and you can buy pipework for the install of a fmic.... The battery will be relocated to the boot, just waiting on wires being delivered and a new battery box.
  2. Bodywork is off and the sanding has begun, 400/600 grit to remove the old run marks still got a few pieces to do then Probably go over them again to get the same smooth feel as some of the orange peal is still there. Went a bit to hard and removed all the primer here but should be fine as its black basecoat going on and should hide it.
  3. Always love a good oily thread, nice work.
  4. Couple of bad bits but the rest is surface rust. Dyson 2nd filter clogged up so wont be able to carry on until tomorrow when its dry, then I can get the wire brush out again.
  5. Always wanted an old skool American muscle car but without the lhd and the bad suspension and poor gas mileage, so I am building this as the best of both worlds approach.
  6. It's just an 200sx s14 with a rocket bunny boss kit. But as above prices are going up quickly as most have been trashed drifting or killed by tin worm. Not bothered about ripping this apart as it's an auto which isn't as popular. Part of me would like some turbo noise for a while and I have a spare front mount laying about so I may play with this engine for a bit before the swap.
  7. Yeah, just waiting on brakes from torqen as my new wheels don't fit, i knew they wouldn't and had originally gone for ksport brakes but they sent me diagrams that were wrong which I gave to the wheel manufacturer. Kinda raging but thankfully torqen bbk fits so no big deal. The rest of the issues or things on the 350z I have not comment, i should be working on it but i chop and change between the two now lol.
  8. So I thought I might start a proper build thread for this car since sxoc wont let me start one without forking out for a forum I don't really use. So at the moment the car is a boggo standard 1999 200sx with some poor weld repairs to the sills, bit of rust here and there and a low milage sr20det. The aim: with my spare VQ35DE and some other 350z spare parts;wheels, front brembos etc... So far the jobs have been stripping the car for welding up the holes and prep for respray in original emerald green (with a stripe or something down the upper side of the car) and a full underseal. I was expecting the worst under the sound deadening but to my surprise! It wasn't that bad, just a hole under the accelerator pedal which will need cut out and welded, but its going to be tricky to remove that sound deadening and the fuse box might get in the way ;-/ I have a full suspension ready to go on the car but sadly there is an immobile 350z in the garage on axle stands waiting for new brakes.
  9. Those bushes look huge or you have tiny hands? Not sure if there is a saying for that? It's only a small kerb surly you don't need to go this far to get into the driveway?
  10. Might even have mine finished by then lol, looking forward to hearing the plans.
  11. Spotted a nice red 350, out side the pub next to an Elise also a few other tasty cars like an rs7, not sure how you got home as the beer was good in the pub. Sadly we were walking back to our accommodation as the Z would have had fun on those tight twisty roads.
  12. Thanks, can't wait to get tyres and have the car sitting properly on them. Ace Valy, Just need to check the gap as I have a feeling it's larger than 25mm, but that is exactly the style I want!
  13. Any idea's on where to get some decent front mesh would be good as the stuff on it looks a bit cheap and nasty for my liking, if not it will need painted darker gunmetal or something.
  14. I think I used to post here.... might need to start keeping this up to date. After many moons and conversations with Torqen, my lovely wheels turned up today They look so much better in the flesh than the photo's. Just have to wait a few more weeks to use them..... I might have forgotten I had made the front's to fit Ksport BBK but I never got round to buying them and they dont fit over the oem brembo's lol. Waiting to hear back from some ksport dealers as I have tried the 356mm template and it fits but I want to see if 380mm disc's fit before I order a set. The brembo's won't go to waste as they are an easy swap on the 200sx. Half the car has been stripped for my second attempt at painting and I intend to do a red lip all the way round the bottom of the car to add some colour. More bodywork so the engine build is still on hold until the dusty stuff is done... and the floor pan on the 200sx has been cut and re-welded (fun times burning through stuff).
  15. Hi George can you check your mail please.

  16. Did you get the new box from the Glasgow eBay guy? Seemed like a good price, fortunately my drunken state only let me fling in one bid for it lol. Glad it went to someone deserving :-)
  17. Ok I will take a photo of it tomorrow and let you see, been a busy day so didn't get a chance.
  18. I have one fitted. . But the bumper it is on is no longer on my car, it's sitting in my shed. I will have a look what condition it is in (tigersealed on but can be removed with some fishing wire hopefully, probably only worth half the value of a new one. (Assuming you are interested in buying one.
  19. Or put two jacks under each rear spring arm to take the cars weight, this allows for easier and quicker adjusting but have lots of backup axle stands or bricks to stop the car possibly falling on you. I use a trolley jack off the diff, two axle stands under the sills for protection and two scissor jacks under the spring bucket arms to take the weight so you can then find out at what point the shocks are loose (easily to extend or retract height wise) mark that point then remove the scissor jacks and set the shock height. Then once you think you have it sorted and the cars safely back on the ground wheels on it settles out and you have to start again lol.
  20. You need to set the ride height you want with the spring then have the shock loose when the suspension has weight on it (wheels back on and lower them onto bricks or something solid) mark that loose point on the shock adjustment the wheels back off and add your 25mm preload I.e extend the shock so it is forcing the hub assembly down. It can be footery and involve a lot of jacking up and down. Just make sure the car is never going to fall on you if you are underneath checking.
  21. Also gutted my 19" rotas will be too big for the car so I might see what the 18" JDM look like on it for now (standard wheels look ok)
  22. Just bought myself a portamig 165 checked underneath and the underseal is painted ontop of rust so I plan to strip it all back to bare metal, drop the subframe and suspension arms for shot blasting and go from there. Should have a service kit arriving for the weekend to start things off. The weld repairs on the front of the suspension turrets look good but can't tell about the sills as too much black tar. One thing I will say is wow, it feels light weight compared to the Z, and the potential is there (after the boat rocking issue is sorted) I won't lower the car as it's my daily driver and plan to keep it sensible but tight. No rose joints, just new bushes or upgraded arms and a soft sprung coilover. The standard exhaust and noise sounds like a diesel though lol, nothing special, quiet and chuggy.
  23. Can't post pictures but the car is being sidelined as I have a new toy, A nice 200sx 14A auto in green. bodywork is in good condition but the underside is coated in underseal and hiding the weld/rust repairs so I have just bought this boy https://www.weldequip.com/portamig-165-mig.htm The subframe will be dropped in a few weeks time, for the cleaning/shot blasting and welding to commence! At the same time the spare VQ35 will be sent for the machine work so hopefully the 350z will get its new engine in October and then it's old VQ35 can go into the 200sx
  24. Might have bought it won't let me upload a picture though, think the forum is broken? Only issues with the car are minor rust spots, windscreen rubber is fooked/missing joining sections, and the tracking or wheel balance is out due to a 60-70mph steering wobble.
