  1. i'd also recommend highly going li-io if going brushless. li-io + brushless = mad speeds!
  2. i did get my hpi trophy 3.5 going last weekend - turned out my glow starter needed charging! i didn't really give it much of a thrashing as it hasn't really been used since october and it appeared to have a fuel leak which i think i have now fixed. going to give it a tune up and a proper run this weekend. will post a video if i remember
  3. i'm no expert on electric r/c, but you wont notice much difference until you make the jump to brushless. the problem with that is you'll need to also change your ESC which starts to get expensive - a tamiya brushless motor and ESC will set you back about £100 but your RC will fly! personally, that motor will get you going and isn't terribly expensive and should give you a bit of a boost so might be worth a shot
  4. a new motor is a good place to start, but wont give you a massive boost immediately. it'll be slightly quicker, but to really start flying, you want to get better batteries
  5. sense ui makes all the windows nastyness go away, but as soon as someone at xda-developers gets windows phone 7 on it, i'll be installing that!
  6. i agree, 3D is fine for the cinema, but until it's more mature (glasses-free with more than 3 or 4 viewing angles), then i'm not interested in going 3D at home
  7. Must just be me then! I had an original iphone which i loved, a 3G which i hated, and now having had an HTC HD2 for 6 months, I refuse to buy another iPhone. The leaked one looks interesting, but I'm probably going to wait for Windows Phone 7 to come out then decide between that and android
  8. My average speed on the trip computer is 14mph. I'm not getting anywhere near 6th!
  9. Not quite right, just requires the right filter and colour correction software afterwards, but the bootleggers prepared to stretch to these lengths will be few and far between until the technology becomes more mainstream. while films are released to the cinema in both 2D and 3D versions, no one will bother going to those lengths.
  10. i saw this and just had to ask, why? if you think about it, the iPhone's hardware is trash compared to other phones about today - slow processor, low screen resolution and 2/3.2 mp camera. the main thing it's got going for it is the operating system... i guess as a techincal exercise it's quite interesting, but beyond that, maybe i'm missing something
  11. its worth remembering that some films are made in 3D (such as avatar, and all CGI films) and others are filmed in 2D then converted to 3D (like both alice and clash of the titans). the latter can have very mixed results and while i've not actually seen alice in wonderland or clash of the titans, reviews and what i've heard people saying about them suggests that alice's 3D is pretty good but clash of the titans is crap. in fact, clash of the titans is the first film i'm aware of that got lower review scores in 3D than 2D because of the lazy conversion process. like it or not, 3D is here to stay as cinemas will push for it hard; it generates more income, gives people reason to go to the cinema rather than just waiting for the blu-ray or dvd and it is impossible to bootleg a 3D film with a camera.
  12. it must have been as all i did was to take the seal off, wash it and replace. I also cleaned the upper seal as i had a lot of small scratches along the top as well as vertical scratches running the lenght of window
  13. I've managed to prevent mine getting any worse, but there are so many and i've already put stacks of effort into getting them out that i'm thinking it might be easier for me to replace the windows when time and money allow. I haven't machine polished yet either so there's still that to try i guess. I'll have a word with my watchsmith mate and see what he says - he is the glassmaster!
  14. How on earth did you manage that?! I thought I had fairly high usage (40-50GB per month) as I stream loads of video through iPlayer HD, SeeSaw and TVCatchup, but 100GB in 2 weeks is impressive One word - pr0n - and lots of it it's not even worth contemplating the friction burns that must cause...

  16. i do enough work at home for people to not complain about me streaming F1 practices on one of my monitors. if people complain, i would just work from home all the time!
  17. Airports look to be opening in an hour's time - for now at least!
  18. it's amazing how petty some people can be in offices. I've heard rumors that there's a rota for the "good chairs" in the other building where i work.... Honestly!
  19. you could always leave a pc or laptop on at home, remote to it from work then you're free to look at what you like
  20. here are the RSS feeds: feed.php = last 20 posts feed.php?mode=news = last 15 announcements feed.php?mode=topics = last 15 topics created problem is, if the domain has been blocked, you wont be able to see them either.
  21. my advice, if it's been added to a black list, i wouldn't be trying to get around it - you're asking for trouble
  22. I was with PlusNet as well; they were excellent. Only complaint I had was that I was on their ADSL2 trial last year and it was woeful in Norwich. Not their fault, it was BT's, but PlusNet's technical support for ADSL2 was extremely limited at the time. This has no doubt improved since though
  23. If you're in a virgin area, I can't recommend them highly enough. I too don't use the phone, but got it anyway as the package was cheaper if I did. I even got a phone call after being with them for 90 days to see how I was finding things. I was generally pleased but mentioned I was getting around 40-45Mb instead of 50. Within 5 minutes of the phone call, my speeds where back to 50Mb. Can't fault that for customer service at all!
  24. That'd fix your bandwidth issues! 360 fail is annoying though. Guessing this isn't your first? (I'm on number 4 right now) For me, the number one factor in deciding which ISP to go with is unlimited usage. Having massive download speeds is pointless if you only get 3GB of usage per month.
