    OEM Back Box

Mine has started blowing so looking to get a replacement for my UK MY05. Nissan want £400 to fit a brand new one , but I'm sure one of you guys has replaced their system with something far fancier and has a perfectly good OEM one in a shed or garage somewhere Being in Norwich (virtually at the edge of the world), I'll probably need to get it shipped here so any estimates for that as well will be greatly appreciated
  2. I just had a P2 service on mine today at Nissan, Norwich. Service, alternator and what ever the other belt was changed and MOT which came to £365. They also said my plugs needed doing but want £195 for it!!! My back box is starting to blow as well which they wanted £400 for and front pads will be due this side of summer. There's no way on earth they're doing any work at those prices so I will have to have a search around when money allows in the next month or two
  3. All in hotels eh? Fancy! Looks like its going to be showers on and off for most of the weekend
  4. Is there a thread for this already? If not, who's going this week? I'll be in the woodlands lively campsite probably from wednesday evening - look for a norwich city flag, a zed parked under it and come say hi
  5. Wow, that's a really good guide! My pads turned up yesterday so I'm about ready to go with replacing them Do you know if the procedure for the back brakes is similar? My guess is that they are, but my brother keeps suggesting that there is a possibility that they could be different
  6. What tools are needed for removing the calliper itself? Also, just want to double check before I order; the Yellowstuff pads I'm after are DP41644R (front) and DP41537R (rear)?
  7. Cool! Does sound easy enough, even for me! Might give that a shot next weekend Cheers for the info!
  8. I am quite tempted to do them myself - doesn't seem too difficult and is probably something worth learning how to do. ..
  9. The guys local to me want £220 for the pads and fitting which seems a lot. My hunt for a reasonably priced garage to fit the pads continues
  10. I was having a look on http://www.camskill.co.uk - actually work out to be just short of £150 which is fine as long as I can find somewhere reasonable to fit them
  11. Not sure exactly which need doing, but I've never had them done in the 18 months I've had the car and not sure when it last had them done so I figure it's probably best just to do them all at once. Yellowstuff seem to be about £140 for front and back (unfitted) - is that a reasonable price?
  12. I'm currently squealing so need new pads quite soon. Any advice on what I should put on? I've heard good things about EBC YellowStuff, but they seem pricey so want to make sure I'm not wasting my cash. I'd try fitting them myself as pads don't seem that hard to do, but I lack the tools to jack the car up so need to also consider fitting costs. In case it helps, I don't intend to track day the car any time soon, but do enjoy an occasional B-road thrashing (that sounds so wrong!)
  13. Cool! might just do that if it all starts to go wrong! The bit I'm worried about is removing the triple gauges as using a soldering iron to melt plastic sounds like an opportunity to really mess something up
  14. looks good! I'll give the matte black a shot this weekend - its not cost very much and the only part i worry about is around the gauges as i have no idea what the best way of wrapping the ports is. I've removed the centre console a few times so i'm comfortable doing that, but not taken the gauges or arm rests off before :s
  15. Thanks! I ordered the stuff off ebay because it's cheap and my mate wants some crappy faux wood covered up in his Focus. I do think I've possibly got in over my head here though as I've never wrapped anything before. Also, I do really love the black carbon look Oh, btw - is it something that can be done within a day? If so, I could always drive down if I need you to sort it for me as it's not all that far from Norwich
  16. Looks really good, but I hate reflections on the windscreen so need a dark colour Are there any brands I should look for or avoid or are they all quite similar? For example, will this be good enough? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BLACK-MATTE-FABLON-TYPE-VINYL-STICKER-SOLD-METRE-/200454471304?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2eac047e88#ht_1777wt_905
  17. I've decided the time has come to do something about the centre console and door panels (the bits with the window/mirror controls). Mine are a little scuffed and tired looking and I'm thinking of wrapping them. I've heard people say its possible to just recolour the scuffs with crayon, but I really want something a little more permanent. Is wrapping the right way to go? Also, the colour is a dark grey at the moment, but the closest vinyl colour I can find is matte black or carbon. Which do you think is going to look better and is there anything I need to consider when looking at vinyl besides making sure it's a big enough sheet?
  18. Yup, they've sorted me out with a new Eos 2.0TSI hard top convertible. Nice enough car - can't say I'm a big convertible fan (esp in Feb!), but it's certainly no zed
  19. I'm insured with Admiral at the moment. Frankly, I'm not fussed about switching the courtesy car - it does what I need it to do, just fancied a moan really
  20. Not a fan of the roadster really so it'd need to be a coupe. The things I'd definitely want would be: MY05+ Coupe GT UK car Sub 45k Any colour but silver or orange - sorry! Black interior Nice to haves but will probably have to do without: Red or White - yes, rocking horse, I know Rays (esp if they're the Nismo ones!) Nismo body kit I've not given it that much thought really, but that was essentially the list I worked with last time around.
  21. I'm hoping my car can be repaired, but the damage to the suspension might mean that's not possible. If I do have to have to swap, I'm not sure if I should get another low mileage MY05 and have cheaper road tax and insurance or look for a MY06+ with the newer interior.... Either way it would have to be a GT again
  22. Yup. Thankfully, an insured muppet
  23. Last wednesday, some inconsiderate idiot decided to not bother slowing down or stopping at a mini roundabout while i was turning right. He went straight into the side of me hitting the passenger side front wheel. Needless to say, I was pretty angry about this, but to make matters worse, he first said the accident was my fault and then after several witnesses told him he was wrong, he accused us all of being racist. I don't think i'm going to have too much of a problem proving liability and claiming it off his insurance, including for the stiffness i've had in my neck and shoulder (which i guess is probably to be expected if you have a side on with someone going nearly 30mph). Still, the good news is I was the only one in the car, and besides the neck/shoulder I'm ok which is what's important. My car however, may well not be. The repair centre deemed it worth getting a quote to fix rather than writing it off immediately, but there's still a good chance that could happen To make matters worse, the courtesy car I was given is an '08 Chevrolet Matiz and it's the worst car I've ever driven! Everything is cheap and nasty - it's like driving a sponge powered by a rubber band. Anyways, financially, I should be ok as I took out GAP insurance when I bought the car a year ago so that'll make up what the insurance co decide not to pay, it's just the pain of having spent money looking after it and the though of having to start looking for another... The good news is that if I do need to buy another, then I'll have about £13k so should have quite a few to pick from. *sigh*
  24. Thanks for that - I didn't read your post until this afternoon, having organised my service at the dealer this morning I agree about not going for the cheapest - if i wanted that I would have gone to the Ford dealership down the road from where I work lol. All in all, it doesn't look like it's going to be horrific - £231 for a P1 service and £35 for the MOT. Shouldn't be any work needing doing besides maybe the pads wearing down a bit, but I'll get that sorted elsewhere!
  25. Cool, i'll give the dealer a call then - still not entirely which service i'm going to need, but it doesn't sound like it'll cost all that much. Doubt it was me i'm afriad - i rarely leave Norwich and almost never use the A47
