  1. Been a while since I was last on here. I have had my trusty 05 350Z for 8 years but it is time for a change. So, today I just bought this cheeky little number: Need to wait for it to be registered and sent to the workshop to get road ready but hopefully will pick it up Wednesday or Thursday this week
  2. I forgot to mention possibly the most important part. So this is an intermittent issue. If the car refuses to start, I leave it for a few minutes after trying and it starts up fine. Seems weird to me but hopefully makes sense to someone!
  3. My battery died at the weekend and I had to replace it. It was all looking good, but today the car refused to start - all electrics were working, windows, instruments, seats, etc. but nothing from the starter motor. I can't even hear the solenoid ticking. I need to double check the connections to the battery, but my other suspicion is something might be up with the immobiliser maybe? I know very little about this stuff - what else could it be or should I check? Is a battery replacement as simple as unplugging the old one and plugging the new one in? Thanks
  4. Thanks for the info. I wonder what it is about the answer button that means it doesn't work.... It's not a deal breaker, it would be a little annoying, but i'm sure i'd learn to live with it.
  5. I've had enough of the crappy Bose system in my GT... The CD player is useless and my Galaxy S4 wont pair and stay paired with the damn thing so I'm looking at alternatives. One option so far is the Sony XAV-63 - http://www.sony.co.uk/product/ica-in-car-multimedia/xav-63 Important things to me: * I want to keep ALL the steering wheel controls - stereo & phone * I don't want to be messing about with speakers so would like it to be able to work with the standard speakers and sub. Are these things even possible with this (or any stereo) and if so, what adapters would I need to get? Thanks in advance
  6. Yeah the current firmware update did nothing for my S4 either. There are a number of updates for bluetooth in Android 4.3 which is officially coming to the S4 next month, but if you can do without the Samsung TouchWiz stuff, you could flash your phone with CyanogenMod 10.2 before then which will give you Android 4.3 also. Would be interested to hear if anyone has tried this and has had any luck with the bluetooth... If I get bored this weekend, I may well give it a shot.
  7. I've read that it could be to do with the way the phone tries to share the address book via bluetooth to hands free kits that support that, but i don't know what the fix is. Hopefully this might help point others in the right direction. I'm still having no luck with my S4
  8. Anyone else had this problem?
  9. I switched phone a couple of weeks ago and am having problems connecting to the Bose bluetooth adapter. I had a Galaxy S2 and have switched to an S4 and the phone pairs ok using the 1234 code but after about 10 seconds, the "Call audio" checkbox in the phone's bluetooth menu unticks. At this point the LED on the bluetooth adapter goes from red to orange - i don't know if that means its lost the paring or not.... I vaguely remember having a similar issue when I first got the S2 but cannot for the life of me what the fix was... Anyone else had this issue and found a fix?
  10. Cool, I've ordered them so will do it next week when they turn up. Thanks
  11. I had a pretty useful guide that I got from somewhere here and it looked OK (even if I have temporarily lost it!), but I've not replaced pads before. I'm tempted to do it myself however as Nissan want £166 for the fronts and I can get EBC Yellows for £68 on ebay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EBC-YELLOWSTUFF-FRONT-BRAKE-PADS-NISSAN-350Z-3-5-BREMBO-/230248376404#rpdId) How easy would you say it is to do and do I need a caliper rewind tool? Thanks
  12. I suspected there might be problems when the body shop refused to tell me what work they had done on the car - saying that I'd have to ask the insurance company. The problem I would have had then would have been proving that they had worked on the bonnet. In fairness, it looked pretty good when it was done, and it was only after the warranty had run out that i really started to notice that anything was up. Regardless, it seems I've learnt an important lesson - never use East Bilney Coach works
  13. yeah, it was so bad, the last time i bothered to wax it, the wax just sat there - couldn't get it off!
  14. About 18 months ago, my bonnet and bumper got a respray by resprayers organised by my insurance company after someone bumped into it. Fast forward a year, and my bonnet had faded... badly. After taking it to a proper spray shop, they said it was resprayed straight black, no clear coat! In any case, my lesson learnt - don't trust body shops picked by insurance companies! Anyways, bonnet re-respray of bonnet now sorted
  15. Was there around 7pm this evening. Shiny.
  16. I wonder what happens when it hits 88mph...
  17. Out of interest, how does this work with the mirror switch? Is it still possible to fold the mirrors in without locking the door or prevent them from auto-folding?
  18. So i've had a squeak in the steering wheel for a few months, but it was intermittent and I don't really use the car much so I left it until last week before getting it looked at. After £45 in service, the guy at my Nissan dealer said that he had greased the bearing and that had stopped the squeak (which it had for a couple of days at least). Now its squeaking again so I called the dealer up and they said it'd need a whole new steering column as its a single part and the bearing can't be replaced separately - £649! Has anyone else had a similar issue and managed to sort it without having to re mortgage their house?
  19. Possibly. Nissan said it wasn't possible, but then in the same breath, tried to sell me a £400 back box. The back box has some corrosion on it, but always worth getting a second opinion i guess
  20. Good to know! I don't mind Nissan doing the service too much as long as it is just the service they are doing. But they are way too expensive for repairs so I shall certainly look into Autotest for any work I need during the year. Sparks need doing soon so there's something already
  21. Good to know! Shall avoid then! Hmm... the more I see videos of scorpions, the more I like the sound, but each time I see them, the tips look different, but mostly look a bit lost compared to the OEM tips. They should be something to be proud of and others to fear, not hidden away
  22. I don't really use the car that much so it isn't urgent, but the back box is blowing noticeably so I don't think I'd want to do a long run in it until I got it replaced. Would definitely be interested in back box systems as long as they are within budget
  23. Yep, it's an MY05 but with the exception of the back box, it runs a treat so no plans to get rid any time soon
  24. My OEM back box has started blowing slightly and it's time to replace it. If I had the money, I'd get a Nismo as I love the way it sounds, but my budget is going to be more like £400 rather than £1200+ It seems Scorpion is quite popular, but to me, it sounds very different from the OEM and Nismo systems and I'm not a big fan of the tips (or at least the few pics of them I've seen). My other option is to just replace the back box with this Japspeed one. I don't really know what just replacing the back box will ultimately sound like, but it's well in budget and looks to do the job. What do you guys suggest?
  25. hmm... I might look into a non oem. Also, why are some exhausts on ebay so goddamn cheap? Is there something wrong with them? Specifically this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NISSAN-350Z-INFINTY-G35-EXHAUST-SYSTEM-/310373384690?_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D5%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D5822642159281002749#ht_771wt_665
