Rubber

As I said, I had a go tonight in the dark just to see if I could budge it. It does seem to come off ok but difficult to see if it is leaving any lasting scuffs in the paint. Looks like there is moisture in the car but I think the stuff is all over the back windscreen as well That'll come off easiely though. I have PM'd Tim so I'll see what he thinks is best. Eager to have a go tomorrow though. Its eating away at me knowing it is like that outside!!!! Chris

Ok Tim seems to be the man! I'll give him a shout. There are a couple of pro's around the Aberdeen area so worst case is that I cause some surface scratches and then get the whole car done over properly by a pro. Will have a better look in the morning and will have a go with the clay bar I think... Cheers for the advice, Chris

Just came back from 2 weeks offshore YAY!!! Bad news is that I left the car in the company car park and it appears to have had rust and water dripping down on top of it for 2 weeks. It's a concrete car park so it is limscale that is on the car. I was quite upset but my company told me in no uncertain terms that it is left at my own liability. In addition we're not supposed to leave our cars there overnight. Anyway I don't want to turn this post into a what I should do to my company but more - What is the best way to fix it? I went out with some Meguiars shampoo and hot water and gave it a scrub with a lambs wool mitt. It is coming off but very slowly. The rust appears to be coming off as well. Just want to comfirm this is the correct way forward or should I use a clay bar? I don't want to push it around the paint and scour it - I scoured the paint on my Celica when scrubbing off seagull poo. I polished the car about 4 weeks ago so the car should have some protection underneath. I'm going to go at it tomorrow, any advice appreciated. Thats crazy! Thanks for the heads up. I realise winter tyres are in short supply at the moment. I think my straetgy will be to put them on my Rays next year and then buy a nice set of Rota's for my summer tyres

Great to hear that they are effective on the Zed Been thinking about getting these myself as the Zed is the only car in the household. Given that Aberdeen temperatures are, on average, below about 7 deg C from Nov - Mar it would be worth putting these on during these months everay year. Now for the questions..... What brank/model of tyre did you get? Did you order them online? (Had a look around on the net but I couldn't locate anything in Zed sizes (for GT rays). Price? Do you have two sets of rims? I'm guessing it will cost ~£40 a go to have the rubber changed over and balanced so you are talking £80 a year on changing between the two sets of tyres. Easier and porbably cheaper in the long run to buy another set of Rays... Chris

Looks great Ground clearance looks good on the front splitter too - should be very driveable. Has the car been lowered? I think filling in the back surround of the headlight in black would really finish the front off nicely. Chris

I don't get it! So they have a cross roads with no traffic lights - ok we have that as well but someone has right of way which is clearly marked. I can;t see any signs on their road- how does that work? (Well I suppose the evidence is in the video!) Awesome link!!! Chris

Cheap solution - get an offcut of carpet, lay the bootmat down as a template, cut, lay the carpet under the thin bootmat. Provides extra soundproofing and saves money for the next mod

All due respect for having a 7 year old car in mint condition. I have a 53 plate and I keep it in good nick. Have had a few comments as to how good it looks for its age - if I had a personalised plate no one would know how well I keep it... Chris

The guy who has the 12k number plate on the Orion - hey, I can understand that. If you have that much money you need to find something to spend it on! Why not spend a ridiculaous amount on a number plate. It's like buying a watch for 20k, gotta get rid of the money some way!!! The people who buy old Jags and put a personalised plate on them - ya I can understand that, or more to the point, I understand what those people are like. Those lot are quite different to the Z community with bling wheels and big spoilers!!! Still no reasonable explanation in my mind as to why people don't treat their car to a "nice" mod instead of a plate with your initials or nickname on it!!! I'm Irish and we don't do personalised plates over there. Maybe its a cultural thing!!!

Nah, sorry still doesn't make sense!!! Is this one of things where you get it or you don't!!!! This idea of having 'CHRIS' written across the front of my car doesn't add anything in my opinion! However, a nice carbon splitter, that looks cool!!!

I don't get it...what is the point in a personalised number plate? Ok, i can see the point in a plate with very few digits because it can look neater, but getting your name or initials across the front of your car - why? And some of these plates are very costly Why not just get stickers with your name and paste them down the side of the car

I love the way they made a load of (bad) mods at the front and then ran out of ideas for the rear!!

Cheers Tim. That's impressive stuff. I have used stuff like Autoglym Bug and Tar Remover in the past but I have never seen it dissolve the tar to that extent. As you say though it's probably very only very badly tarred examples - don't think I would let the Zed get in that state! (let alone a Continental GT some people have more money than sense!!!!!)

Look great Quick question - the close up shot of the panel with the streaks, is that the remains of tar spots after the Espuma TGB? I normally just wash and go straight for the clay bar to remove the tar. Does this stuff loosen it before the clay bar? Cheers, Chris
