  1. Rubber

    Toyota FT-86

It looks beautiful but I'm not sure if it would be a step down from the Zed in terms of performance?
  2. Looks like they barfed as soon as they got out of the car
  3. If I need to be 'sensible' and get a four door car in the future it will be the JDM Civic (FD2). If I could ignore all practicalities then a Lotus Elise (would need a second car for that one.) Apologies to all the die hard fans but if I was to replace the Zed almost like for like then it would be a 2nd hand Cayman S rather than the 370Z After looking at them (370Z) for the last year I just haven't fallen in love Cayman S is the way forward Chris
  4. What about the latest JDM Civic Type R? http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/3254324.htm Gets a great write up as a drivers car in EVO so you may not miss the Z as much. Running costs should be reasonable and as long as you spare the VTECH for driving pleasure rather than everyday use the fuel consumption should be reasonable. Being a JDM the insurance may be more and it looks like they are still just out of the price range you were looking at though Anyone else tried one of these? Chris
  5. Yes the wing is free but the new owner would need to pay for a courier/packaging OR be based near Aberdeen so they could pick it up. It does fit in the back of the Zed. I have no issue with someone taking it and putting it in the garage for future use if they don't need it right now. I don't have this option so it will go in the bin in a couple of weeks if no one takes it - it would seem like a waste to do that Regards, Chris
  6. No you're right - it's tighter on the other side. Cheers Alex! PM sent! Chris
  7. For future reference for anyone looking for a new wing.....I went with "National Spares" in the end. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NISSAN-350Z-0 ... 2565a0ab2e Unfortunately the first wing supplied to the bodyshop was damaged. The bodyshop said it was well packaged but there was a slight dent in the bottom and a small pinch in the arch. They said it would be no problem to fix but since it was a brand new item I simply asked the seller for a new one. (I was offshore at the time anyway so a few extra days didn't matter.) I sent National Spares an email with some photos of the damage and they sent out a new wing in a couple of days. The bodyshop did say that it was not the easiest to fit but the final result was fine - see other thread for results. I still have original wing that had the damage as National Spares never took it back when they supplied the new one. Free to a good home if anyone wants it? If I had a garage I'd hang on to it but I just don't have the space to keep it. If no one wants it then I'll throw it in the skip The bodshop said there would be no problem repairing this wing. Cost price was £80. Oh, and I'm based in Aberdeen. Small dent in bottom Small pinch in arch Chris
  8. Just to close this one out....car is now back to full health I went with Paint Technic in Tullos. They said the wing was not the best fit but the results are pretty good. They also fixed the small chip in the door which is not visible any more. Paint match is pretty good in my opinion. Cost was £650 to fit the new wing, fix the small chip in the door and respray the new wing and also to respray the side skirt which had some scratches from getting in and out. All in all I was happy with the service from Paint Technic and they are a nice bunch to deal with. They gave me a small bottle of paint for any future touch ups However, I'm not sure if they could have got the bumper to fit tighter to the wing? - See pics. Car is a bit manky in these pictures but you get the idea. The bumper is not as tight fitting to the wing as it should be though Anyone have any advice on how to get this tighter? Chris
  9. Quality - I bet that was fun. I think that is something we have lost in getting higher powered cars these days - you miss the thrill of extracting every bit of performance from lower powered cars and hustling them down the road. Renaultsport Clio 200 may be a future cheaper option for me....(although it will probably start to fall apart after a couple of years )

    Here you go.... http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=49475 Chris
  11. The S5 is sweet Why did the person with the Merc on lease have it cleaned up before it went back to the dealership? Never had a lease before - do they assess the condition of the car when you give it back? Chris
  12. Ok I got some quotes today. However, I'm surprised at the price variation The work that was quoted consists of the following: 1) Replace front wing with new including painting (wing to be supplied by me) 2) Remove tiny dent from door (see pic above) 3) Respray scuffs on door sill (will be coming off anyway to replace wing) 3) Touch up small scuff on rear bumper Quotes as follows: 1) Kinghorn Body Shop, Blackburn £1150 2) Smart Repairs, Dyce ~£850 3) Paint Technic, West Tullos ~£500 - 600 Huge variation! Kinghorn Bodyshop are out in my mind - too expensive. Both Smart Repairs and Paint Technic seem very nice. Personally I was thinking it would cost about £700. All repairers said that they would blend the respray into the door from the new wing. Does the Paint Technic job seem very cheap or should I go with them? Anyone have experience with any of these guys in Aberdeen? Cheers, Chris
  13. My previous search on Ebay didn't show anything of use Just tried another search and there indeed a few there - good call Ricey . However, none of them are OEM and prices vary from £62 to £134. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NISSAN-350Z-2002-2007-FRONT-WING-R-H-L-H-/110671107239?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item19c48314a7 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NISSAN-350Z-O-S-REPLACEMENT-WING-/330522922374?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4cf4b38d86 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NISSAN-350Z-03-FRONT-WING-HOLE-R-H-/160618818350?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2565a0ab2e I have read many times on the forum that if you buy a cheap bodykit you'll pay the money getting it adjusted. All these buyers here appear to have good feedback. Any advice - should I just go for the most expensive one?
  14. May be worth checking the angle of the throw of your headlights. Mine had deteriorated recently and the garage thought the beam was very low when doing the MOT. They adjusted the beams to be higher and there was a massive difference in the performance
  15. Hi guys, Looking for a drivers front wing (new or second hand) as some d*ck reversed into my car and damaged mine. I'm based in Aberdeen. Regards, Chris
  16. Some companies don't want to deal with modified cars. If you declare mods then they will up the price to make it uncompetitive. Best off going with someone else in that case...
  17. Good result on that one Dave - looks perfect
  18. Just been to Kinghorn Bodyshop in Blackburn for an estimate. They reckon it would be easier to get a new front wing. They're emailing me on an estimate. (I also asked for a rough guide for a complete respray of the front bumper and he had a guess at £350 - seems expensive?) Any other reccommendations for bodyshops in Aberdeen to get a quote? (And yes I have already for the wing )
  19. Ya there is a crease but it feels smooth to the touch so I think it is the paint that has bubbled up rather than a hard crease in the metal work. Will have a word to Zmanalex in the meantime to see if there is another wing available for a worst case scenario Saw the pictures of the damage to your car - looked horrific. Never saw the final update though - hope she's back to normal Chris
  20. Just noticed this on my car a while ago Must have happened in our residental car park last night or at a shopping centre car park this morning. There is very little evidence of rubbing on the bodywork so I suspect someone may have just reversed into it and given it a bump. There doesn't appear to be any creasing of the wing - it just looks like it has been pushed inwards. Maybe the bodyshop will just "pop" it out? There are no real marks either except a small scuff on the Zed emblem and a small scratch below ,both which will buff out. Assuming the wing will "pop" back into shape, the only repair will be the paint which has cracked on the upper wing from the stress of bending. I can see the primer beneath the wafer thin paint! Would it be best to respray the whole wing or can you just do the cracked bit? Very frustrating but I think it is time to put some of the other niggles right in the bodyshop too - respray the front bumper, maybe the bonnet and the doorsills which have picked up a load of scratches from getting in and out. Another niggle that has been bothering me is a dent in the door line. It happened when I opened the door and the wind caught it and whipped it out of my grasp. The door swung too far open and bent against the hinge giving a small dent For some reason I feel relatively calm even though someone just hit my car Chris
  21. Cheers for the suggestions Not sure about the telescopic rod heaving codling up the rock faces If you got a 6ft 6" section in then I should be good Cheers, Chris
  22. Yes - the rods split in two pieces 13ft may be a bit of a struggle otherwise! Although not all of them split halfway so you end up with a longer end! Never thought of the suction cups but from what I've seen they are for rish dudes with big Land Rovers going out on the estate for a spot of fishing - may look ridiculous on the Zed! Chris
  23. Hi guys, Since moving to Abz I have given up fishing. However, I recently went out spinning for pollock and seem to have caught the bug. Some more reading reveals that Aberdeen and the surrounding coast is loaded with cod and I have never caught one greater than about 3.5lb. So I need to get kitted out for rough groung rock fishing Before I plash the cash, is it possible to get a 12 - 13 foot beachcaster in the passenger seat and out into the boot without fouling on the the rear wingscreen? Also interested to know if anyone else on the forum is into rock fishing around the area.... Chris
