  1. Am I missing some parts of the forum where all the Nismo 370Z posts and project cars are held?
  2. I’ve read that the exhaust note is a bit of a let down alright . I’ve heard some clips of the AAM short tails which sound good and look like pretty good value.
  3. Thanks guys. Alex we did some business a long time ago on some droplinks and a loud HKS exhaust that came off your track car! Mentally, I would like to come in at about £25k but £28k is achievable. I need to wait until I pay off my wifes car loan in July and then I will use those monthly payments towards the Zed. Plan to put down about £15k and take the balance on a personal loan. I'll need to buy a set of winter wheels and tyres as well as this will be a daily driver and I live in the county. There are a couple of cars around the £25 - £26k bracket. I want a black one which seems to be a popular colour. A new Stillen supercharged car has just turned up on Autotrader. I'm a bit confused at the fact that it is so cheap? Looks like it was up for sale last year as well for different reasons from what I can glean from Google. I'm not in the market for such a heavily modified car in any case. Chris
  4. Hi, I used to have a 2003 Zed that was my pride and joy but it had to be sold to buy a Nissan X-Trail when I bought a new house . I now have a Mazda RX8 R3 which I love but After 3 years I feel it’s time for a change. I’ve considered all possible options: M3, Cayman, Boxster, Elise, Evora and even a Supra or R33 but I think the Nismo 370Z makes the most sense. I’ve not seen one in the flesh yet - anyone around the North East of Scotland that I could meet up with and have a look? They are a rare sight around Aberdeen unlike Caymans or M3s. It will be the summer when my finances line up and I am ready to take the plunge. Financially, it’s a bit of a jump, mainly because the Rex cost only £6,000. The resale value will be about £5,000 which is very little depreciation but I have a lot to make up to get the Zed. I’ll also re-enter the real world of car depreciation with a newer car Am I right in saying there are not many Nismo 370Z (Mark ll) owners on this forum? Maybe i’m Looking in the wrong area? Either that or i’m going to be told that I should buy a 370Z GT and use the savings to mod the hell out of it! Chris
  5. Yes they are basically the same as my tyres but are more pronounced in the fact that the tread points in different on each side - strange!
  6. That's what I thought! Never gave too much notice to replacing my tyres on the Zed as I always got it done at the garage. Yes - not very asymmetric!
  7. Hi all, I just bought a set of winter tyres on steel wheels online for my wife's Fiesta. The tyres are Bridgestone Blizzak LM-30. I was just about to fit them but I am confused as to whether they have a direction of rotation? Here are the tyres in question - http://www.bridgestone.co.uk/tyres/car-4x4-and-van/blizzak-lm-30 The tyres have all been installed with the correct side to the outside/inside of the wheel as per the label on the tyre. When I place the tyres side by side as they will stand on the front of the car (as per the picture) the yellow tread block is on the inside of the wheel in both cases so I suppose this satisfies the asymmetrical query (I think!) However, what is confusing me is the direction of the tread on the tyres. Since these are side by side as they would be on the car you can see that the yellow tread block on one side will be facing forward and on the other side will be facing backwards. Is this correct? I may be in for a flaming here if I get this wrong!!!!!
  8. SOLD!!! New owner should hopefully be along with an introduction soon. She has quotes for a wrap already...... Chris
  9. New owner should be paying balance and collecting the car tomorrow. Will update this post as soon as the sale goes (or does not go ) ahead
  10. All other updates are in red. Of someone can tell me the correct oil specs I'll add them in also.
  11. Although this is a crap design it doesn't sound like a fault or something you need to watch out for when buying the car. Happy to inculde it if people feel strongly about it.... Chris
  12. Hi all, Due to the impending sale of my car I have been doing some research into 4x4s (test driving a fully loaded 2.5L pertrol Nissan X-Trail tomorrow ). What strikes me during my research is how difficult it is to get meaningful reviews and buyers guides. The 350z-uk forum has been asolutely incredible for me and has added greatly to my ownership experience. However, while all the information about every type of fault is contained on this forum I thought it would be good to get it all in one place and put it as a sticky for new buyers in the Zeds for Sale section. I will not claim to be any kind of Zed expert but I have read (and experienced) many of these faults and have just pulled the list from memory. This is intended to be a collaborative effort so please correct any mis-information and add any more issues that you think are relevant. There may be debates on some of the information..... I'll try and keep on top of the post and add in any extra comments from people in this original post and delete all my blab. Mods - please feel free to dive in and tidy things up if you want... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 350Z Buyers Guide Advice and what to look out for when buying a used 350Z…. Servicing Engine Oil + Filter - Every year Brake Fluid - Every 2 years or 27,000 miles Coolant - Every 3 years or 36,000 miles Spark Plugs - Every 5 years or 54,000 miles A/C Belt - Commonly replaced after ~60,000 miles Serpentine Belt - Commonly replaced after ~60,000 miles Gearbox / Diff Oil - Commonly replaced after ~60,000 miles Fuel Filter - No replacement necessary Timing Chain - No replacement necessary Cabin Air Filter - No replacement necessary Note: There is no Nissan recommended change for the gearbox/diff oil change or the belts – about 60,000 miles is normally when people change these items. Interior Seats - No particular issues with seats, electric seats or heated seats Sound System - Bose sound system is renowned for skipping when playing CDs - Passenger speaker can cut out. Hitting the right hand side of the passenger footwell can rectify this! Sat Nav - Issues? Interior Trim - Generally hardwearing but can suffer from scratches Electric Windows - Motors on the electric windows can fail. Can be rectified by cleaning or getting a new motor. Air Conditioning - Does not normally need to be recharged Convertible Roofs - Check to see if it has been greased (it it recommended that this is done annually) Clutch & Gearbox - Clutch lifespan seems to vary. Some have been replaced at 40,000 miles while others have lasted up to 80,000 miles - Synchromesh in gearbox? - It is common for 2nd gear to be ‘notchy’ when cold. This is not known to cause an issue and will disappear when the car is up to temperature. Suspension - No particular issues with springs/dampers - Failed droplinks can cause knocking sounds when driving - Knocking or vague steering feel can indicate worn bushes in the suspension - A clicking sound from the rear when manoeuvring at slow speed indicates an issue with the rear driveshafts. Engine - No issues normally reported - Do not normally consume oil - The car should be run on 97 Octane – ask the previous owner if this has been the case! Common Modifications - Pop charges / cone air filters can slightly reduce power but give better induction noise - Plenum spacer ….. - Cars with UPREV tuning can have increases of up to 15 bhp and ? ftlb on non-modified cars. This can be increased with a couple of extra modifications. DON’T EXPECT MIRACLES! - Do plenty of research before buying a turbo or supercharged car! Exhaust - The standard exhaust pipework frequently splits due to corrosion. If the exhaust has not been replaced then it should be inspected for rust/damage. There are lots of aftermarket exhausts available with most of them being louder than the standard version. - The flexible metal hoses on the exhaust Y-pipe can suffer from tears/wear over speed bumps or on lowered cars Wheels - Rays wheels can suffer from bubbling and corrosion - Make sure all tyres are the same brand and the correct size to avoid problems with the traction control system - Check for uneven tyre wear indicating that the tracking is off Brakes - No issues normally reported on Brembo or standard brakes - Brake discs can suffer corrosion over time - Research any aftermarket discs as some brands get bad reviews - Nissan pads are fine but are frequently upgraded Bodywork - Paint is extremely thin and can suffer from stone chips on the front bumper - Genuine Nismo bodykits are desirable and add value to the car - The boot may not stay open if heavier aftermarket wings are fitted - new stronger boot struts required - The fit of aftermarket bodykits can vary so check all shut lines - Check under the car and on the sills for rust - It’s a powerful RWD car so check all bodylines to ensure the car has not been crashed!
  13. Car is provisonally sold A young lady (Jap car enthusiast) came and test drove it tonight and loved it. Chris

  15. Cheers guys. I had looked through the V5C but had not checked the front page Oh, and I did get one of the red ones issued ages ago. Chris
  16. I have had my car for 4 years and it has now come to sell. However, how do I know how many owners the car has had? Can I find this somewhere for free? I can't remember what I was told when I bought the car from a garage - I didn't get a HPI check or anything. Is it advisable to get one of these for new buyers? Cheers, Chris
  17. Beautiful car Cool vid as well although I preferred your video where you 'drifted' out of the roundabout
  18. Looks mint Black polishes up a treat but difficult to keep it that way.
  19. Can someone explain to me how you end up with a car like this??? http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/3660979.htm The body work, while not to my taste looks like it has been blended very well and the colour match looks good and the car is nicely polished up. If you are focused on the looks of the car then why would you not clean up the headlights which look all hazy - probably a 1 hour job at the cost of a bottle of polish??? However, what really boggles me is that they didn't even dust the dandruff off the drivers seat before taking pictures for the sale thread Chris
  20. Ground clearance is necessary for climbing over mounds of snow! Admittedly this may be only one or two days a year but it is possible to have to put up with it for 2 - 3 weeks I think that rules out the estates. I think the ghey 4x4 is the way forward. To make it even more ghey I'll probably get a CR-V rather than a Land Rover Defender
  21. I thought you had to wear helmets at most track days? It looks to me like he never changes gear, he just leaves it in auto. Maybe this is better for the track (I'm not a track man myself) but it seems like you are missing a major element to the driving if you don't change yourself? Looks like tha auot keeps the car on the boil beautifullt though, you can see the rev counter and the upshift blinking
  22. Not sure the 5.7L engine could make my 30+ mpg!!! From the stats it looks worse than the Zed! Interior looks quite plush though... Chris
  23. HRV would be good too I reckon and must be dirt cheap to run May be a bit small though - need to have a look at one in the flesh me thinks. Not a very common sight on the roads around Aberdeen. Thats cos it not an audi Interestingly I counted 6 this morning on the way to and from the supermarket! Just goes to show that if you're not interested in a type of car then you may not notice it! I had previously landed all 'stupid' 4x4s into the same bracket but it's interesteding now that I look closer.
