  1. That is more what I was getting at, however it's good to know that I have options when it comes to replacing them!
  2. Been staying at my girlfriend's flat in Beeston, Nottingham for the past few days, with the car parked around back in an out-of-street-view car park. Just returned to find that both front and rear number plates have been stolen. Have spoken to the police so they have a record of it, is there anything I should be doing / concerned about? They're actually British Forces Germany plates, so I can't see that they'd be all that useful to anyone! Think I may go and move if into the gf's garage in place of her Fiat 500. Oh, and what's the going rate for plates these days?
  3. There's a Windows one going around as well. Some bloke from an Indian (I think) call centre rang my Mum up and told her he was from Windows and that she had to perform a security upgrade on her laptop. I then took the call and the bloke became really agitated, to the point of aggressive, when I started questioning the validity of what he was doing. Makes you wonder how many people actually fall for this stuff.
  4. O neg is essential in emergency care as it can be given before a blood group check is carried out on a patient. As you say though, everyone should be getting involved in this, it's pretty much painless and you could directly contribute to saving someone's life. Seems like a no brainer!
  5. As some will know I've had plans to add a Vortech V3 to my car for some time now, however I've pretty much fallen at the first hurdle - getting hold of the parts! Essentially I've had a whole load of kit on order from Adam at Z1 since before Christmas, however we've been hit by a lot of supplier problems and it has reached the point where we've taken a mutual decision to cancel the whole order rather than string the process out any longer. This is a shame as Adam has clearly worked hard to get it all sorted and has been getting as frustrated as I have with the whole thing. So then, I should be receiving my refund imminently and I reckon I might take a bit of a Condor moment and fully consider what my options are at this stage. I'm still certainly tempted to go FI, although judging by a couple of recent experiences on here I might go about it slightly differently. For now however, I really need to sort my brakes out and work out whether the annoying 'clunk' now coming from the front passenger side suspension is drop-links, a ball end joint, or something entirely more sinister!
  6. Currently planning a bit of a road trip for August, starting in Washington DC, heading up into E Canada and then looping back down to finish in Boston. Just wondered if anyone has been to Quebec, Ottawa or Montreal and has any thoughts about how we should split our time between the three? Any help much appreciated!
  7. I've got 2 Sealeys and a Draper, for different torque ranges. All seem pretty well made and if you shop about you can get them reasonably cheap.
  8. I had to attack with an angle grinder too. Right pita. Have replaced all the hardware with marine-quality stainless stuff so hopefully it'll be easier next time!

Your zed doesn't have a cam belt (uses a chain), therefore nothing to replace!
  10. I like that, looks clean. Was there a lot of trimming involved?
  11. But if you're paying by the hour it could run to a fair amount. Not really worth it for the cost I reckon.
  12. Actually, I think it may have been the AM that had those. I think I may be losing it.
  13. Do you remember that green XKR Bond car that raced around the ice? Had those 'anti mortar' guns that popped out of the bonnet...
  14. Think a lot depends on the tutor you get. I went with Everyman and he was quite happy for me to get the GTR going sideways on a couple of occasions. Also went in a Exige S, amazing fun!
  15. where? Always a bit of a hot-bed subject, imagine it has called a halt to many a dinner party in the past as a lot of it centres around deeply held beliefs, whether religious or otherwise. I'm absolutely up for people believing whatever they like, I know on which side of the fence I firmly sit. I have to say I find it amusing when you hear stories of foreword stickers being added to textbooks in US schools as well. I quite enjoy some of the debate (when it has at least a toe dipped in the pool of logical reason anyway) about the complexities of design and the lack of evidence of transitional species (google 'croco-duck' for a bit of a laugh). The bottom line is though, no matter how much 'proof' you lay down there are still going to be significant numbers of people who will refuse to be swayed one way or the other.
  16. Please mate, that would be great! Only need the one. PM sent!
  17. I quite enjoy hooning about in my girlfriend's Fiat 500.
  18. Accept but give them very limited access. That should get the message across.
  19. +1 Impressive result from rattle cans!
  20. Take it to a track and throw it about perhaps? Maybe get some race lessons so you really get to grips with how far you can push it!
  21. What did you spray them with? Any pics?
  22. A bad day at the office all round!
  23. Thanks Stew! Is there anything else you reckon I should look at at the same time? I currently use a bit of Megs polish and then Collinite wax, both by hand obviously. Is there much point in looking at machine - applied sealents etc?
