This was my solution!
1996 Evo IV GSR with a forged engine from an Evo VI (therefore none of the crank walk issues commonly associated with the IV engine) and upgraded turbo, injectors, boost controller and a load of other bits and pieces. Very different car from the zed, much more raw in terms of power delivery and the four wheel drive and active yaw control lets you get away with a lot more. Wouldn't recommend it as a daily driver and it's a bit noisy for long journeys, however for track days and B road blasts it's guaranteed to put a grin on your face.
