Fancy going FI? Don't want to blow up your Zed? This was my solution! 1996 Evo IV GSR with a forged engine from an Evo VI (therefore none of the crank walk issues commonly associated with the IV engine) and upgraded turbo, injectors, boost controller and a load of other bits and pieces. Rather than list the full spec here, I'll include the link to the eBay auction below. Link Here Very different car from the zed, much more raw in terms of power delivery and the four wheel drive and active yaw control lets you get away with a lot more. Wouldn't recommend it as a daily driver and it's a bit noisy for long journeys, however for track days and B road blasts it's guaranteed to put a grin on your face. Any questions please ask.

Seem reasonably priced. Hard to see in the picture of the second front wheel, is that kerbing or just the way the light falls?

Don't know what could be used in there place? What's wrong with jubilee clips? got loads under my bonnet Not saying there's anything wrong with them, just wondered if there's an alternative. Just looks like a bit of a "making do" solution where fuel is involved. Whats holding on your fuel line then out of interest? The fuel line runs to a straight pipe without any male/female connectors so I'd be interested to know an alternative if it exists? I changed that fuel line only a couple of months back after the old one corroded so I feel a bit guilty that it split at the bottom like that - fuel near a hot exhaust is not a good combo. Also that SC belt must have really loosened itself on its long drive eastwards - I wasn't able to twist it much past 45 degress before I left from home. great work though Chris - its great to see the Zed in such capable hands. Couldn't tell you to be honest. It's just that I had that exact same issue on my Evo with the fuel line splitting where the jubilee clip was holding it on, following the fitting of a Walbro pump by the previous owner. I just wondered if there was an alternative because, as you point out, leaking fuel is potentially hazardous.

Mine's not much of a looker, so photos may put you off. They aren't exactly the prettiest of cars anyway and mine has a few battle scars!

+1 I have an Evo IV with a built VI engine, IX turbo and a few other bits and pieces. It's stripped out and goes like absolute stink! Enormous fun on the track but I couldn't live with it as a daily driver. Running costs are a bit too!

Am I right in thinking that the 370Z version doesn't require a replacement bonnet Mark? Is it based on the Vortech?

Topic Resurrection! I'm still after an Alpine mic, if anyone has one. My trip to Maplin didn't prove particularly fruitful.

I would recommend lots of research and then coming to the decision that if you need a faster car, go and buy a faster car.

Have a look over on my350z.com. Probably your best bet.

The price of entry varies massively between these cars but the Z will cost the most to run (depreciation, fuel, tax). Even with a discount you'll lose £10k+ on the Z over a couple years while you'd be beating buyers off with a stick when you came to sell the BMW or Porsche (and get most of your money back). I'd be interested to see the figures on this.

The alternative to which I was referring was related specifically to the OP's situation. I believe he has resolved the issue by leaving the car in the UK!

Just coming up to 3 years ownership now. Issues: - Media player can be a bit unpredictable at times, works with a USB stick and sometimes decides it can't read it. - Part of the front window washer system split (one of the joints I think). Was replaced under warranty. - Engine uses a bit of oil. Nothing dramatic but just something to keep an eye on. - Sometimes get the 'hill hold assist' warning light come on. This only ever happens when I'm driving and I suspect it has something to do with my size 12s not being able to press the clutch pedal fully downwards! To be honest, nothing too major. Think it's done about 20k miles and for a little runabout/town car it really fits the bill. That's not to say I'm trying to plant the idea of getting an Abarth next though!

My other half has a 1.4. Although I have no doubt I look ridiculous in it, it's actually quite a laugh to drive.

I think the rear 3/4 looks are better than the 458. Stunning car.
