  1. I agree, I've seen engines being tested on the TV with regard to engine wear/exhaust temperatures/lifespan etc so agree entirely that the more you put it through the quicker it dies. Cash on major upgrades really need to be justified for purpose though.
  2. I reckon £1.5 k for the extra upgrades to get the additional torque, isn't a bad figure, just a damn site more money and work that that needed for a turbo engine. E.G. remapping my golf gti-t cost £400 along with an induction kit £300 and it got me 47 extra bhp, and more torque. An exhaust system with re-tune on my Evo gave me another 23bhp. Seems that modifying a n/a engine is much more hard work. If only Nissan would release the 370Z with a turbo, I'd probably buy one. I watch a lot of the Discovery Channel, and wondered does anyone have an accurate idea on the price of boring an engine to increase cc? Is there a great deal of work involved (sure I saw a post where someone mentioned having a 4.2).
  3. Yeah a supercharger is around £3.5 I think, not sure on self fitting though, and I imagine I'd need a replacement ecu too? This alone without replacing anything else would be all I'd do if this was possible (cap the power). Either way, I don't imagine the overall price would be way above cams/pulleys/haltech/plenum/exhaust/induction/re-map/nos etc etc etc that most of you seem to install over a period of time, especially for the true gains to be had.
  4. Maybe his car wants to practice 'safe acceleration' when entering those large deep tunnels What a c o c k.
  5. Lets hope you don't suffer a side impact and end up with a wheel for a face Hire a van for the day.
  6. Is there a member who has had a re-tune without any mods at all? If so what were the figures? I have also been tempted in following the typical route of installing a spacer/exhaust, but due to ever changing circumstances never got around to it. Kind of glad I never 'wasted' the money now. I'd be interested in seeing what the gains were from a standard car re-map (if any), without being too focused on the actual figures. Forgive my ignorance guys, but taking into account all of the variables you've mentioned that can affect a dyno run, I personally would still have thought dyno figures would be relatively the same from anywhere (within close parameters), otherwise how can you fully trust manufacturers published figures for any car? I think I agree with some of you though that the only 'cost effective' power gain would be FI.
  7. Wow! Certainly spent some time and cash there! 8. Nice wheels, shame they're not wider, if you can't sell them put them in your garage for later! If I had £700 I'd have them for the simple fact that the tyres are new, I'm currently shopping for tyres for my rears and it's gonna cost!
  9. Yeah I don't mind the skyline at all! Just doesn't float my boat like the 350Z does. Can't quite get over that front end, although the rest of it is awesome. So am I right in thinking the chassis and shell are almost identical?? Is it the same engine/transmission/RWD/power as the 350? Could I fit the rear set up from one of these into my 350?
  10. -must be nice to have all that money and struggle to get it spent quick enough
  11. Were you looking at my avatar and those heavy 20" lumps
  12. Simple. Pull the hoses off the injectors and see if water comes through when you hear the motor turn.
  13. Here's a spoon to stir the pot- Knowing why someone would potentially have or fit a roll cage to the interior of their car :How many of you would buy a second hand 350Z with a cage fitted, or evidence of one previously being fitted?
  14. A rear conversion of the interior by adding a set of seats would end my conquest for another car altogether I reckon,as long as seat belts were anchored properly and it looked as though they had always been there. Trouble is, I can't find anyone on the internet who has previously done this. I've tried going for better fuel economy and interior space by looking at diesels, but due to my nature I ended up stuck between a V10 Touareg/M-Sport estate/Audi V6 TDi Quattro. I just couldn't justify at the end of the day, giving my 350 in for one of these. All of these are not that fuel efficient for a non-petrol car anyway. Basically I want a car that goes and handles like the 350, but is an estate for practicality(Dog), and costs almost nothing to run. I would never entertain another car if it wasn't RWD or 4WD, which rules most cars out. Interested at one point a 300c Touring, but they only seem to come as an Auto, and I just can't get on with that Triptronic stuff. Really close to getting an older RS4 I think, but the running costs (servicing mainly) really put me off. I had to sell my van recently due to money issues (needed some),or everything would still be cool, now it isn't as my 350 is so far from being practical for what I need from a car. If only I could win the lottery
  15. Definately hard work finding a replacement. Don't want to feel like I've taken a step back from my 350Z when I get my next car, unless it's a 6.0 V8 SSV Ute in Oz
  16. Probably much higher. You get what you pay for and they are not a nissan. That said I looked at one a few weeks ago, and the interior was as basic as a Z and had lots and lots and lots of brown leather which really isn't what I like. I'd pick cloth over leather every day of the week, even if it cost more, no cracking or creasing etc etc. I reckon a 350Z could spank one providing I was driving
  17. I need to move my 350z on as I'm waiting on a house sale so I can emigrate, and every penny counts! If the house doesn't sell soon, we'll probably give up and settle down with a dog,as our lives are pretty much on hold, and have been for over a year now. I absolutely love the Elise, especially the Exige, but see them as a second/third car as a sunny weekend track toy, and not really much use for much else. That said I'd love to own one once. But no room for a pushbike or a dog! The RS4 is way out of my price league due to running costs, I thing a ceramic brake set replacement costs more than a mk4 Golf GTi T ! The M-sport estate is something I keep looking at as the torque kicks arse, but only in a manual. I can't seem to find a used one below £25k though, if I find a good one of these for my price range it's a done deal. Only in manual.
  18. Sorry dude. I just don't see the point, but for those who enjoy this sort of stuff, they can't be on their own or these things wouldn't get mass produced. I reckon when a car is safety tested/crashed, manufacturers anticipate a roll and take necessary precautions anyway, or all cars would come with a cage as standard. Just my opinion, not out to upset anyone who likes these, or has one,or is getting one
  19. Just like to add that I wasn't born with a silver spoon, and I'm a northerner so don't earn much, and shall be financing the car, so I'm not being an arrogant t**t. Also mammy and daddy won't be lending me the cash, and I don't have any rich dead relatives who'll be aiding my purchase.
