  1. There's one reason, and one reason only, people drive a Z. It's cheaper than the competition.
  2. Very interesting video. But the only reason it is, is because it very nicely demonstrates just how much driver ability comes into it. The lambo driver was hamming it all over the shop. Back end squirming (4wd remember) and bad racing line, and then the straights came and it destroyed the Z. Yet the Z kept up over a lap... I take that back actually. It's not a nice demonstration. It's an incredible demonstration of driver skill over performance. These 2 cars are not even in the same continent, performance wise, yet he kept up. Something to bear in mind. Probably more for the yanks and the "I killed a 911" threads though...
  3. People saying no to no price difference on older cars...Just remember, it's a cascade effect. A 2012/2013 MY2011 370z currently selling at 28/29k is going to look pretty damn expensive next month. So they will be driven down fairly quickly i'd expect. Then, comparing those to overpriced 2011 cars, will mean they'll also be driven down, and on and ariston. Only way that might not happen is due to the total volume of z's out there being pretty low and/or stricter discount policies from the dealers on new cars being enforced, due to the lower cost of entry. So, really, I don't think it's wise to say either. If you're going to buy in 3/4 weeks, why not wait another couple of months to be sure? Sorry about the lack of paragraphs in this post, my return key doesn't work on this forum anymore!
  4. Looking at the used prices of 370s. I'm failing to see why people think they're doing so badly. 2009 model GTs going for 17k. Seems about bang on for a 3-4 year old car.
  5. I'd like to see some figures on that. Rather than just anecdotes, and statements like "the zed really likes it".
  6. Woman are actually much worse drivers than men.* It's just men cost more money, because we wipe out in style, not in a car park, into a lamppost! *Generally speaking of course, before I get nagged to death by women who like to whinge at men!** **Generally speaking..of course!
  7. Seeing the 370 was such a roaring success over here. I worry there's probably a not insignificant chance that it won't make it over here - A la Hyundai Genesis.
  8. seriously,no more power? Every man and his dog is dropping weight and adding power, are nissan that lazy, or is the engine that @*!#, that they can't stick an extra 20/30 bhp on there? I think 355 or so would be a great spot for the z to sit power wise.
  9. Wasn't it confirmed numerous times running low octane is perfectly fine for the engine? The ECU just adjusts and you may lose a few BHP. No Biggy.
  10. Cmon. The soft top Z is a bit gay. Total hairdresser town. Doesn't make it a bad car though.
  11. SO let me get this straight. You paid 24k and you've had the car a month. In that time you've doubled the mileage, added another owner to the logbook, ANND you're selling privately vs you buying from a dealer, annd you think it's worth only £500 less than what you paid. lol The fact you've gone from dealer to private alone will mean you lose 10%.
  12. What a bunch of bloody fanboys. It makes me sad. This is a NISSAN forum, and people are trotting out @*!# like "it's a renault, no way". Cmon people... Secondly, when your car doesn't match up to the competition, what's your only resort? Slag the brand, and tell everyone it will blow up and is ugly anyway. This is EXACTLY the sort of turd that gets levelled at us from Porsche owners, and we dismiss them as being ignorant snobs. Funny how the base nature comes out when threatened! Fact is, the megane whipped the 370 with more seats, more practicality, and FWD. Guys, drink a nice big cup of cement and harden the **** up. Don't start trying to needlessly bash the car because it's not what you have and doesn't justify your existence as a human being. To be honest though. I don't find this result suprising at all. Hot hatches always have been, and always will be, the poor mans sports car. They've had the performance of a GT, but cost much less. What you pay for in a car like a 370/z4/tt is the looks. The desirability factor. "Who cares if you have a golf R. It's like a boring shopping trolley golf but with side skirts" You pay a premium for the looks... If anything, this comparison works in the 370's favour, as back in the day of the 350, hot hatches cost 17k had potential for 280bhp and could match the 350 all the way. Now the price is almost the same! If you don't need the seats, why would you buy a hatchback over the Z??? Sorry for the rant everyone. I love the Z like all of us here , but I hate blinkered fanboism.
  13. R8 is beautiful car. Better looking and more imposing than it's big lambo brother the Gallardo. The V8 though, how does it compare to the z? Obviously it's faster, but by how much. I've heard reports of that engine under delivering badly on the RS4. To rub it in a bit more. You'll get spanked by a remapped TT-RS
  14. This sort of bullshit happens in every enthusiast industry. Thankfully waxes like that are rare. I've not seen more pseudo science and nonsense than I have with audiophiles though. That blows car detailing out the water. Oh, incidentally, I was browsing through and saw 3 micro fibre cloths for something like £2. I felt royally shafted for paying twice that for 1 from halfrauds. LESSON LEARNED!
  15. I found my to actually be pretty accurate. I know this is at odds to most peoples experience with the Z though. Just get it down to almost zero, and fill the car up to the brim. Then you can at least make an educated guess.
  16. I must check that PH thread out later! And the ISF...Yeah, it's no 370z for looks, that's for sure! But as with the 370z, every car has it's compromises. It sounds better, goes quicker, is more powerful, more luxurious and better specced out than any 370z could ever hope for. You have to weigh that up, when you're looking at it's weird stacked quad exhausts And to be fair, I think the 370z is the best looking coupe this side of an Aston Martin, so the ISF has a tough comparison
  17. Doesn't seem like too much time, and whoever called the star of the add a "gaylord". What's your problem? Feel a bit inferior or something?? Anyway, nice experience for you, well done . The one thing I find odd is if they were obviously sooo specific about the car they wanted, for whatever reason. But, inthe finished add there's no way you'd ever know what car was used, unless a) you freeze framed AN ADVERT. or were on a 350z forum and the owner posted about it.
  18. single xenon each side, it just adjusts the lense to get the full beam on the 350z Exactly, I think Mega has been smoking too much crack Bi Xenons are a bit of an issue when you need to "flash" someone through however.
  19. All Z's have HID's. faceliifts have Bi-xenon. Though the facelift xenons are quite weedy.
  20. I like your optimism on prices. But from my complete arm chair point of view...judging by how 350 prices went, I can't see them going anywhere but South... I seem to recall when the 350 was new, a 3 year example was still worth a considerable amount. Then round about err, 2007? Along with all the economy malarky the price of Z's dropped a few grand, and since then the trend hasn't seem to have stopped. I bought my 350 for an average price of 15k in November 2009. It was a 56plate facelift GT with Nav. So 3 years old, and halved in value What I'm saying is, this perceived massive drop on 370's isn't so much of anomaly as you may suggest, or people are finding (though your stock anecdote is VERY interesting EH). As I don't see much reason for the 370 to end up much different in 3 years, and looking at 2009 prices now, it seems to be on the right track, no? Unless there's some specific reason the 370 will hold it's value a lot better than later 350's, consdering the state of the market now...?? Speaking of new models etc. When are Nissan going to release a facelift? Breathing on the suspension is not what I'd call dramatic. Though having a real facelift would only crush used prices even more!
  21. Hmm. If I was buying brand new. With 3 year warranty etc etc. I'd probably get a 4wd Audi, or a GTR. But second hand, with my own personal money...IMO it's hard to argue for the competition! To be honest. I think the same applies to me and the 370z. IMO it's appeal doesn't stretch as far if you're buying new, and getting smacked by the massive deprecation, also where Jap reliability and maintenance cost is less relevant. The 370/350 ARE brilliant cars, but because of the value proposition they represent. Without that, I dunno...
  22. Hey Chaps. Thought I'd stick my beak in here, as I've been browsing this section on and off for a while! My observations...? There's only a small handful of members on here! Either Nissan only sold 10 370's in the UK or no one knows about this site. However, the 350 section still seems pretty lively. Of course, I understand that's probably largely due to the fact you can pick one up for 7k now! Which is both great and sad at the same time. Oh, I'm not just posting for the sake of posting btw, I have a question. I was wondering what they reliability is like on the 370 these days? Some owners should of had the cars for 2 years now, so has anyone had any reported problems. I can't see much here (or with a cursory browse on the US forums) of much other than the boot release, and a more frighting manual gearbox failure! I had an MY06 350 which I sold 1.5 years ago for an A3 tdi (job change, 30k+ miles per year). I thought I'd be able to manage without a "nice" car, but it's driving me insane. So for next year, I'm thinking of going down the 2 car route of a tdi for the motorway and something else for...something else As I obviously dislike Japanese cars so much, I've narrowed it down to a 370z (duh!), and the very different but equally awesome IS-F. Both second hand of course! Oh, and black and white are clearly the best colours...
  23. Errmmm. And what's with the front bumper. Are you trying to hoover up small children and wildlife for later?
  24. I came from a remapped Cupra R (260bhp) with the same engine. Admittedly the LCR was supposedly a bit more sprightly than the TT due to less weight and no 4wd to sap power, but it *felt* considerably quicker than the Z when accelerating. To the point when I tested the Z I thought it was duff. Instant throttle response compared to the laggy turbo, but the thing felt like it wasn't going anywhere until 4k revs. Where in the LCR you got slapped by the torque at 2.5k. Of course though, it was fine. The Zee just gets it's power higher up the rev band and has much longer gearing. The difference is almost like comparing a Tdi to a petrol...You do get a bit spoilt by turbo's in some respects.
