  1. in perfect conditions, i would not expect to get that on the road though.
  2. the bluetooth adapters replace the existing cradle and you can still use the hands free buttons on the steering wheel. Some people have said that you get issues with some phones not being compatible, but i have not had any issues with a samsung or a sony ericson. if you use an old nokia, you are going to have to run two mobiles which i found just did not work out. i would recommend the bt adapter.
  3. not sure, top gear magazine has a figures in it at the back but not sure if it brakes it down via model, its been a while since i looked
  4. mine is a daily driver, blast down the m3 every day and back, 60 mile round trip, i thnk if i was going to get a weekend can it would have to be a bit out there, like an Atom or a 60's mustang.
  5. yes the idea is that with more group the basic premiums before adjustment should be more accurate, as with more groups they are more specific, however as everyone knows, quotes vary massivly from insurers to insurer and for person to person. If there is any resulting change in premium, it should be a reduction, but i doubt you would notice it.
  6. These are being rolled out across the insurance companies, all to be in place by December 09. Im not sure how this works for imports. http://www.thatcham.org/abigrouprating/ ... 347&row=20
  7. most of what they are saying is rubbish about this. i used to deal with car accidents for a living. Most accidents are not caused by speed. If you look at court cases over car accidents, one of the most common things you see is that it is that speeding is not the cause of injury or damage on its own. it is a contributing factor as to the severity of damage or injury, but not the cause. in most cases accidents happen at low speeds, through people not paying attention to what is going on around them. And given cars stop quicker, have far greater protection for occupants and pedestrians, actually the amount of damage caused is less than it used to be, it is just litigation and repair costs that have gone up, and there are more cars and pedestrians that keep the figures ever increasing. Duel carriage ways and motorways are realy the only place where speed is a major factor as when you hit something, its generally pretty hard and at speed it can make a big difference, especially as cars do not leave sufficient space to stop for anything in front of them. There will always be the argument of well if the vehicles were travelling slower, but you might as well say we should go back to driving with a man walking in front waving a red flag, then again he might end up being run over, so actually lets go back to just walking. I think if the government lifted the motorway speed restictions people would be much happier to slow down in towns and villages where most of these accidents happen.
  8. thats a bargin i'd grab it, i have no regrets since buying mine, well worth the money
  9. its not just under accelaration though it will do it if you coast around a corner without much arm action, i think a 1000 miles is a little excessice for the top of the tire to wear off, i'd say a few hunderead maybe
  10. I have had exactly the same problem, i replaced my two bridgestone rears with toyo's, the back end was all over, at first i thought it was something else and spent money on getting it checked out, but it turned out just to be the tires. Traction would kick in more often on one side than the other and you hardly hard to put much steering and/or acceleration into a corner to get it to kick end. I dont think you have damaged the car its just toyo rears dont work with stone fronts for some reason. you need to change the fronts or the backs, one way or the other to get a matching set all around. I changed my rears back to stones and it instantly corrected the problem.
  11. hah funny, just done mine tonight also, fairly cheap gauge and foot pump, was surprised at how far out they were so glad i checked.
  12. am i right in thinking there is no congestion charge on a weekend?
  13. yep i'll meet you at the usual reading meeting spot. will have to make sure i fill the tank the night before.
  14. from what i have experienced and seen on this forum, the steering wheel alignment is common problem. Min was initial fine, then when i knocked the tracking out, the place putting it back could not get it right, i paid for a cheap alignment which worked a treat but as it needed castor and camber doing had to pay for an expensive geometry at a good garage and they fixed the castor/camber and the checked the wheel alignment but have managed to through the steering wheel out of straight. I have got used to it as it is not out by much, but i would not start removing the steering wheel no matter how bad it got - its not the steering wheel that has moved to make it not straight, it is something underneath the car that needs fixing.
  15. looks like i might be able to make this after all. I will be heading up from basingstoke also so we can go in convoy. need to make a note of where we are meeting and going to as i dont know london, brighton or anything in between.
  16. i'd like to mod, but from what i see i need to spend a fortune to get any real power gains, so think i will hold off for a while and save up. some nice alloys would nice too but i cant justofy the spend. I'll probably wait untill something needs replacing and then spend a little more and upgrade from there. but if i had the cash to splash im sure i'd spend a fair bit.
  17. im gonna be pi**ed if i miss the gtr, im away from tomorrow until next weekend, please tell me its next weekend that you have the gtr down south Phil?

  21. hopefully it wont be too long before they get rid of the useless raders, they dont work properly, so i cant see some pensioner with a shakey hand and dodgy eyesight being able to get an accurate reading.
