  3. so what you are saying is they dont pick up scatter 100 - 500 meters down the road from where they are targeting other people down the road, the only way they pick anything up is when the thing is pointed at the actual detector in your car. that makes them pretty pointless if thats all they do.
  4. i have one of those headphone to cassette conector things, i got it years ago so the new ones might have better quality, but it means i can plug one end into an ipod and put the cassette end in the bose stereo its not ace quality but it works, like i say my connector is prob 10 - 15 years old so new one might be much better, and cheaper than buying an external bolt on socket
  5. i appologise for missing a wave on the a33 from basingstoke to reading the other day. firstly im a newbie, i saw it at the last minute and thought their must be something wrong, about 5 mins later i realised what was going on. i will in wave, i see quite a few z'ds around n'hants / berkshire area
  6. I appreciate that I can't see around corners or through bridges, but what i mean is that if the detectors don't pick up the scatter, its not going to make any difference whether i have one or not because as soon as it goes off, i've already been caught. I guess i need to do more reseach but it sounds to me as though, you buy one of these things and hopefully it will pick something up early enough for you to brake, but chances are it won't. So prob best to pick up something with camera location database, and if it has the benefit of a detecor of some sort it's a bonus.
  7. i thought the radar / laser detectors were supposed to be able to pick up the scatter? This then giving you time to slow. If they dont work like this i cant see the point in them at all, i have never used a gps system as i have always managed to see the vans or fixed cameras when driving. I have been looking to pick up a cheap detector just for the little extra protect but reading this puts me off bothering at all.
  8. thanks for the great welcome and info
  9. i'll try and get some photos this weekend if the weather is ok
  10. i have heard about the ariel, and thought maybe, is there any difference in reception with it or is it just because its short? also will probably fit the alloy kick plates sometime, but dont want to mess with the engine.
  11. Hi, I just picked up my first 350z last Friday. I was looking for a while and found pretty much what i was after, i live not far from reading. I got a 54 plate 350z GT in gunmetal with the alezean leather, a few options on it and only 32k miles. Not looking to mod it for a long time. I am interested in taking it on a track day, may be near the back end of this year, or begining of next year, something nice and quiet as i have never done one before and want to start off slowly. So far i am averaging about 25mpg, mix of motorway and A roads, taking it easy and pushing it a bit (aircon on and off - its a bit warm these last few days). accoring to the computer it looks like it will do about 370miles to the tank which cost me about £70 to fill on premium. can anyone tell me if these figures stack up with averages? Thats me ?:~)
