  1. can you post a link for the site that sold the tickets/organised it, i would be interested in coming along to this sometime.
  2. i might see if i can come along to this for one of the days, not sure on availability yet but will try and let you know nearer the time, if not i might drop in unexpected.
  3. yeah forgot about that, thought i had put it on already. 245/45/18
  4. are you sure the seat is going all the way back and down, is it possible something is restricting its movement?
  5. 2 x rear tyres £100 each, please message me if interested, they have about 400 miles on them.
  6. I dont think locking it down to registered users only is worth it. As it has been said, it does not use anyhting other than a very small amount of bandwidth having anyone gaining access and no other aditional costs, the only issue people seem to be raising is security. However this is a failed argument surly as if someone wanted to steal info they would register, then have access so locking it is not going to acheive any greater security. People should be careful of what they place on a forum even if it is a pay to access site never mind a free one. you never know who is a registered member. I think you may lower the number of potentialy good people on here. I personaly hate registering on website just to see whats in them, because you then run the risk of huge amount so of spam mail, constantly having to give out persoanl details etc. One of the reasons i joined this site was because i could see what i was getting before giving you my info. If i had not been able to browse the forum and see that there were active members and that a lot of useful if past through, i would have probably skiped this site for another one. If there was a real cost, fair enough lock it down, but i cant see what you are gaining. If you dont lock it down, you would probably get better members and the openess would be appreciated and you would have less 0 post accounts. hope this helps, happy motoring.
  7. Speed-limiting devices should be fitted to cars on a voluntary basis to help save lives and cut carbon emissions, according to a new report. The government's transport advisers claim the technology would cut road accidents with injuries by 29%. The device automatically slows a car down to within the limit for the road on which it is being driven. But charity Safe Speed says the devices are dangerous because they encourage drivers to enter a "zombie mode". Ministers are planning to help councils draw up digital maps with details of the legal speed on every road. The speed-limiting devices will then use satellite positioning to check a vehicle's location and when its speed exceeds the limit, power will be reduced and the brakes applied if necessary. The Commission for Integrated Transport and the Motorists' Forum, which both advise the government, are calling on ministers to promote a wide introduction of the system. Education 'important' John Lewis, from the Motorists' Forum, told BBC Breakfast he believed the devices would help drivers obey limits and therefore keep their licences. "But we believe that the system should be a voluntary system, that the drivers decide if they have fitted to their car or not, and that they decide if they want to over-ride the speed limit - that should be their choice," he said. You've taken the responsibility away from the driver and that is not [good] for road safety Claire Armstrong Safe Speed There would also be a positive impact on emissions and fuel consumption, he added. Jon York, fleet manager for British Gas, whose vans are already limited to 70mph, told BBC Radio 5 Live the system had reduced road incidents for the company. But he said the introduction of technology had to be combined with safety education. "It does aid road safety, it does reduce incidents, but it is part of a wide-ranging number of initiatives within British Gas and one of those is driver training because you have to change people's behaviour." Overtaking worries But Claire Armstrong, from the road safety charity Safe Speed, said that the devices could be dangerous. She said truck drivers using speed-limiting devices had been shown to "go into fatigue mode or zombie mode" and stopped paying attention to the road. "That makes it highly dangerous in those scenarios. So you've taken the responsibility away from the driver and that is not [good] for road safety." Derek Charters, from the Motor Industry Research Association, believes limiting speed automatically could cause accidents. "The last thing you need is one car to be overtaking and then pull back in, in front of the cars in front, because that braking event will then cause everybody to start to slow down, which will then compress the traffic, which then causes an incident." Motoring journalist Quentin Wilson said he also believed taking away driver control was a "really, really bad thing". "Remotely policing the roads from satellites in the sky - I would worry about it an awful lot."
  8. but if the ESP is causing it to be a dog to drive, turning it off will probably make it a bit easier. The ESP kicks in early enough without issues so if he can stop it effecting the handling when the car is not realy out of shape and its more of the sensors kicking in rather than the car skidding. it's up to him whether he tries it or not. with regards to your comments on the weather, traction control actually makes a car harder to drive in extreme slippy condition, it overides the controls too much.
  9. why dont you turn the esp off and drive without it untill the tyres wear down, if your not silly, you will drive better and get the benefit of the tread rather than waste them, also it should improve your driving rather than being heavy on the accelerator and relying on the esp to save you when you do get the thing sorted out.
  10. im sure you could easily try running a different dvd in the unit, its only a map disk as far as im aware o should be ok, it will probably come up with an error or unkown as you pre load the program with a different disk. im guessing the bird view program is running and looking for maps so you would nee to bypass that also, but i dont know where that is running from - probably the drive. let us know how you get on.
  11. thanks, im sure will come in handy sometime
  12. There is a dark blue Skoda Octavia VRS Estate in the Basingstoke area, the lights are hidden very well and i could not make out the camera equipment. luckily i got away with a flash and being told to slow down as he passed, i guess as he undertook me on a roundabout and went screaming up the slip road without an emergency to go to and the motorway was empty he di not mind too much that i caught and overtook him. i read all the time about them drving skoda's but given his driving style i did not take him for a copper, I'l be even more carefull around these in future.
  13. still slippy as hell at 400 miles, i hear that people say you need to give them 1000 miles but for me that is too much fishtailing to put up with, and I dont like the way they roll on the side wall even going around corners without them slipping. anyway, my loss is your gain if you are interested?
  14. I have 2 T1r's for sale they only have about 400 miles on them, they look like new as they have hardly been ran in. I am selling these as I did not like them, I bought these from Camskill at £124 per tyre. I will sell these for £100 per tyre + postage or free collection. Please PM me if you are interested. i live not far from Basingstoke.
  15. check with nissan, i would be surprised if they don't sell them, they will no doubt cost a fortune, otherwise your looking at a breakers or ebay. there was someone selling a satnav on ebay not so long ago, for a unit that they did not know where it worked, it might be worth trying something like, that, you might end up with a spare unit but could possibly pick a remote up cheaper that way rather than through the dealer.
