  1. I never drive with the TC off ...especially in damp roads Glad you had it stayed under control though. I always keep the TC on as you never know when there's a bit of grease/damp on the road and as said above, have heard of more than one member on here who has written their car off due to this very thing, coming out of a roundabout and losing it totally. At least you're ok.
  2. I'd be interested to see the dyno gains before and after too.

    Test pipes

Thanks Alex. What make of test pipes are they and are they resonated or non-resonated (do you know where I can find sound clips of your make of test pipes)? How easy is it to remove the wires that go to the stock cats and then remove the stock cats and then install the decat/test pipes - approx how long install time does it take? Is there any difference in power/feel on the road or loss of torque lower down? How different is the sound after fitting them? What's the lowest you'll accept for them (can pm me)? Did you get any issues with knocking or strange raspy noises? The main thing I'm concerned about are the vibration raspy noises many people seem to experience at certain revs (quite a few clips on youtube of this) such as: and and What causes this and is it something you have to put up with or is it the metal that is used in the decat pipe? Thanks again.
  4. Thanks guys and thanks Peewee re Longlife exhausts. Lol @ tmJak

    Test pipes

Yeah I may leave the stock cats in as the hassle over MOT time and potential issues with O2 sensors plus raspy noises are a put off. Will it make it much louder if I remove the mid pipe resonator? Or will it just make it more amplified (ideally I want it to make it a bit more amplified without it sounding like an old banger)?

    Test pipes

Has anyone simply removed the resonator on the mid pipe? I was thinking Hayward and Scott might be able to fabricate a stainless replacement mid pipe without the resonator, running from the Y pipe to the backbox. Any thoughts on this? Should give the car that extra sound I'm after without spending £££

    Test pipes

Hi I was thinking about getting a complete new system but after hearing the stock exhaust with just some test pipes I have found the sound I am after. I know the cats would have to be put back in come MOT time but I have a couple of questions regarding the O2 sensors. What is involved in fitting test pipes regarding the O2 sensors (I have heard you need "anti-foulers" to avoid getting "CEL" problems) and how easy are they to install and re-install the stock cats for MOT. I'm not convinced test pipes are the way to go but just looking into them at the moment as I really like the stock exhaust but it just needs to be just slightly louder. Although I have been reading about lots of issues with test pipes and raspy rattling so not sure if they are too much hassle etc.
  8. Is that an APS cat back exhaust? Looks nice but aren't they well over a grand?
  9. Does anyone have any photos of the Scorpion exhaust fitted? I have looked on the net but can only find pics of the system on its own, but not fitted. I know it is slash cut which isn't my preference but still interested to see how it looks and sounds. I can only find about two clips on youtube, not many. Does anyone know the stock bore diameter compared to the Scorpion bore diameter - is stock 2.5" and the Scorpion the same or bigger? The lifetime warranty leads me to believe it must be very good quality but amazing value as it is only £350 inc vat from what I can see. The fitting issue is a pain but something I could forgive if it is very good quality apart from that. What exactly is the issue with fitting it - is the mid pipe too long?
  10. Ok, I sent Hayward and Scott a detailed enquiry of what I was looking for and the response I received is as follows: We would need the car to be able to build and fit for you as we don't have a pattern for this car. Approx price from the end of your cats is £650 fitted but excluding VAT. We would need the car for approx 4 days. - sounds very similar to a response given to another member enquiring with them viewtopic.php?f=62&t=21081&p=301010&hilit=hayward+scott+%C2%A3650#p301010 and I thought M350zB already had a true dual one so not sure why they would need my car for basically a whole week as my car would be basically the same apart from the rolled tips at the end. Either way it has put me off a bit, so still looking for alternatives that sound similar to the Nismo and Bassani. Can't believe how hard the search is for a rolled tips exhaust (similar to stock just a bit bigger and bit louder) for between £500-£900
  11. That £650 used Nismo one is sold I assume as I messaged the seller a while ago about this but not heard anything. AdrianK the photo in your sig looks like a Nismo exhaust or is that an old photo before your Buddy Club was fitted?
  12. Lovely car and glad you chose the best colour
  13. Not true...... Handsfree was standard. Bluetooth wasn't available until late 2006 or 2007..... I remember being in the queue to buy the first batch of BT adaptors. You are correct that they are now standard. I've got factory bluetooth on my 2005/55 car. It didn't have the adapter though but was all bluetooth ready. Found a contact who works in a dealer who got me a new adapter which was lying around spare from another car for around £50 (normal price I believe is £90-100) .
  14. Probably not a huge amount. The only effect I have seen are some brand new ones being offered at 20k (10k discount) in order to shift surplus stock. Although not seen any of these offers recently so can only assume supply is meeting demand etc. It's worth ringing round dealers to see if they have any (second hand ones) as they will normally want rid off them too. I actually bought my 3.5 yr old full spec gt model for less than what the dealer paid a year previously when they got the car. As they weren't able to shift it they accepted an offer from me, plus 2 yrs full nissan warranty and tax thrown in. Depends what your budget is. The 370z is getting mixed opinions - if it is a huge seller then it will have more of an effect on the newer 350z's depreciating more.
  15. According to the tuners and experts in the States and Adam at Z1 (who knows his stuff) say exhausts (primarily true duals) do have dyno proven gains of up to 15 whp and equal torque increase at the wheels without any ecu tune and that it's a myth going round forums that no modifications make any difference (apart from a plenum spacer) without an ecu tune. Adam will be able to confirm more I'm sure. I'm after an exhaust primarily for the noise though - any power increase is a bonus.
  16. People say the 350 is "lardy" yet it is lighter than the new Golf R32 by almost 100kgs and also lighter than an M3. My car was recently put on scales before a rolling road and it came out at 1520kgs. It has incredible handling compared to all previous fwd hot hatches I've owned in the past. Rear wheel drive and the brembo brakes provides amazing cornering like it's on rails. And the looks of the car mean you can cruise along slower than everyone else (who is hurrying to work) and still feel "cooler" Although it is awesome acceleration when you do put your foot down, in virtually any gear. My last car was a subtly modified golf vr6 (2.8) only 1170kgs with upgraded suspension and rolling road tuned power output of 207bhp and the 350z (which got just over 280bhp on my recent rolling road session) feels in a totally different league (the speedo certainly proves it). A standard cooper s (with 160bhp) is no contest, A JCW with 190-200bhp is still not a match unless it has been modified - which can easily be done though with a quick remap as it has a supercharger. Same with the Cupra Rs which just need a simple chip to get close to 300bhp from their turbo.
  17. I'm not sure which button is the re-circulation button. Can anyone point out which one it is as I know there are two? However I only ever notice the smell if the air con has been on and then after it is turned off the smell appears. So I would assume it is something directly related to the air con but only appears after it has been turned off. We get it at work occasionally with the air con in the ceiling.
  18. Bluetooth should be standard on all GT models regardless of year - however the earlier GT models may or may not come with the actual adapter - dealers for you!! However the new 2007/08(HR) GT models should all come with the adapter as standard.
  19. So would I but I can't find a place to ship it over to the UK. I imagine shipping and then vat on top would be pretty expensive. I know they're excellent quality as most of the mustang and corvette crowd have used Bassani and Borla exhausts for years.
  20. Found their website and they seem good quality. M350Z please is it possible to post a sound clip so I could listen to it - and is yours a true duel or single mid pipe system? I assume you tell them how you want it to sound and they know the tricks to produce that kind of sound? Ideally I want something that sounds similar to a Nismo (maybe a touch louder) - so you can still hear the V6 howl but it sounds quite a bit louder and importantly has character.
  21. Thanks guys. I've heard of them actually. Are they very good? And where are they based or do that have more than one branch?
  22. Thanks guys. Am I right in assuming anything bought from the States requires me to pay 15% vat to collect it as that is my responsibility as far as I know? Already have prices from Adam and Envy's website. Both good and fair prices considering the price hike in the Nismo but both over my budget unfortunately. So I'm either looking at a used Nismo or as suggested above a custom made one. Because exhausts don't really offer any power increase and I only want a bit more sound would I only really require a new backbox (rear muffler and tail pipes) or could I get a custom made mid pipe with a resonator deleted perhaps or larger bore diametre (so I get to keep the stock rear back box and tail pipes, just different mid pipe) but get that extra growl I'm after? I'm in the south east (Sussex) - can anyone recommend any custom exhaust places that have worked on a 350z or Jap cars that are good at what they do but offer a very reasonable price in the south east (Im prepared to travel)? I've heard horror stories of people getting custom jobs done and it all goes wrong whereas others rave about them - so need to find the right people. Thanks for any help.
  23. Thanks guys. I'm assuming the £650 one is sold as never heard back from the seller. I'm now looking for used as opposed to brand new as brand new are incredibly expensive and dealers no longer sell them in their parts dept so can't get prices from them. Tried Adam/Z1 who was very helpful getting a price for me but unfortunately only supply new stock. I'll keep looking. Cheers for the help so far.
  24. Hi I'm looking for an aftermarket exhaust which looks similar to stock, ie has rolled tips and are slightly slanted (ie don't stick out), but perhaps just a bit larger and sounds similar to stock (so you can still hear the v6) but louder with more of a growl/snarl . So far the closest I can find is the Nismo exhaust which sounds excellent and looks perfect however I can't find any used ones for sale at the moment and at £1400+ are very very pricey. Any cheaper alternatives I can consider under a grand? I've been looking for weeks now, many searches and the closest I can find are a few US exhausts - Magnaflow, Borla and Bassani (sounds amazing), all three are quality makes but all are over in the States so awkward finding a supplier plus the shipping and tax makes it almost the same as a nismo. Invidia Q300 is another strong contender but no idea on what it would cost to ship it over here nor what it sounds like as it is so new (no clips on youtube) - does look very good though:
  25. I think they're similar money to an HKS HI Power, less than a Nismo any way. Just a pain that they are in the States.
