  1. Hi Jerry, How did you get on at Nissan - any phone calls from them today on the progress (surprised they need it for two days)? What year is your car and did they agree to fix the clicking rear axle under warranty? Mine is an 05 year (with extended mfr warranty) and there is a technical service bulletin for 2003 and 2004 car but for some reason not 2005, so not sure whether they would try to riggle out of fixing my rear axle despite it being a common problem all ALL mfr years as they all share the same rear axle. Good luck with it all.
  2. Not a good idea running on the standard 95 long term as you are very likely going to be having pinking going on undetected which causes premature engine damage. Most Tesco superunleaded pumps (offering both 99 ron and 97) are actually cheaper than regular 95 pumps at main stream garages.
  3. Hi How reliable is the Nismo cat back exhaust - is it prone to cracking at the joints or is generally a very good quality exhaust system up there with the likes of HKS etc? Does it have the usual stainless steel exhaust "million mile / lifetime warranty"? I really like the look of the Nismo (similar to stock rolled tail pipes which is what I want) and the sound is similar to stock (again what I wanted) but with a bit more grunt. Just need to ensure it is 100% reliable or if not are there any other exhausts similar to the stock tail pipes with a nice noise like the Nismo? Only one I've seen similar is the Invidia Q300 which looks very good quality more so than the Nismo but as yet never heard one at all as it's so new. The Invidia G200 could be an option - not sure on the slash cut tails though. Other good thing about the Invidia ones are that they are true dual which the Nismo is not so would generate a lot more power. Thanks for any help.
  4. Does anyone know how much the transmission losses (%) are in a 350z? I've heard it is around 15-17%. Does anyone know more information? Thanks for any help.
  5. Are they normally quite hard to fit and are leaks possible unless done absolutely spot on? I've heard cases of the bolts coming loose. How does the car feel on the road - has anyone reported slight sluggishness low down the rev range after fitting one?
  6. Thanks. Can I get "spray grease" from Halfords?
  7. Thanks guys. I'll have a go at doing it when I put it on a ramp (my gf's dad has one). Will WD40 be ok for me to use or is there another type/make of oil spray I should use instead that people recommend? Can I also re-grease the parts that are causing the clicking issue or is this more indepth requiring parts to be dismantled? Has anyone here with a 2005 or later car with the clicking issue had it fixed under Nissan warranty? The TSB for some reason only applies to the earlier 2003/2004 which is a bit cheeky.
  8. Hi Does anyone have the new Invidia Q300 true dual exhaust (comes with x-pipe) for their 350z? How was it to fit? How did your car feel to drive on the road after fitting it and what mods does your car currently have (stock ecu?)? Also, if anyone knows of any pics of it fitted to a 350z plus any sound clips as I can't find any on youtube. Does it sound very similar to the older Invidia G200? Thanks for any help and info.
  9. Martin, you're not visiting a certain somewhere in the south east to have something fitted to your ecu are you? I thought it was someone else on here being the guinea pig. If you are having done what I think you are (I may be totally wrong) I'd be very interested to know how it goes too. What are your current mods (exhaust and CAI)?
  10. Cheers guys. Can anyone here confirm if they got their car's "clicking" rear axle covered under extended mfr warranty - where your car is a 2005 or later? Is there a pic anywhere showing the drop links so I can see the part to re-grease? Is WD40 not a good idea?
  11. Thanks for your replies. Sounds like I need both done because I have the clicking too! Are both very quick and easy to do (how long approximately to do the droplinks?) - is it better having the drop links actually replaced - if so how cheap are the parts? Also, the clicking driveshafts is a common issue is it not - so should this be covered under Nissan extended warranty? Is it something I can ask my local dealer to fix and what is involved with fixing the rear driveshafts (do the whole rear drive shafts need replacing??) or is it just a re-greasing or should I ask them to replace certain parts (just so I go armed with knowledge!)? Thanks again for all the help.
  12. Hi I seem to get loud squeaking/creaking when braking while reversing slowly. I've had all the brake pads only last week. The creaking noise was present before the brakes were done so I naturally thought the noise was because my pads needed doing. However I've noticed the noise is still present. What could it be? I know it could be that the pads need "re-greasing" (does this involved all the pads coming off again?). However could it be another part that needs re-greasing or replacing? Please note the noise is not the "clicking" you get from faulty drop links. The noise I am getting is a "screeching"/creaking noise that you would normally associate with your brakes but it could be another part of my car in this case. It doesn't seem to happen when I brake when I'm moving forward - only when reversing, even more so if reversing slowly down a hill. Thanks for any help and info.
  13. Hi Has anyone got one of the new Invidia Q300 true dual cat back exhaust (http://www.z1auto.com/prodmore.asp?model=350z&cat=exhaust&prodid=3531) or G200? Are Invidia exhausts very easy to install and fit - ie no problem with hangers or clamps etc (are Invidia a very good quality make - ie up there with the likes of HKS, Greddy etc)? A lot of the true dual exhausts with x-pipe advertise impressive gains from just a bolt on. The Q300 which I like the look of says this exhaust will get 20+ wheel hp. What does the "X-Pipe" actually do - it is better having one than not? I thought any initial exhaust gains get cancelled out by the stock ecu and you see no power increase - can anyone confirm what the case actually is, any dyno's before and after? Also will I see a loss in power low down the rev range in sacrifice for higher end power with fitting a true dual exhaust and X-pipe or is it an increase in power right through the band (my car is totally stock)? Thanks for any info and help.
  14. Nice one. Let us know how you get on. What performance mods does your car already have? I visited them last week and they were very friendly. Will be interested how the unichip goes.
  15. Hi GTart are trialling the Dastek Unichip on a N/A 350z and said a member on a 350z forum was their "guinea pig". The member was going to post up results end of April/May. Just wondered if it was a member on this forum? Or is anyone running or know anyone who is running a unichip on their 350z? As well as allowing full control over the fuelling / timing etc it is supposed to allow full control to open up the throttle a lot more as in stock form the throttle is never fully open. How does the car feel on the road compared to standard? Thanks for any info.
  16. Mine's the same too although hardly noticable unless you are really looking. It's because the petrol cap is plastic and most 350zs' petrol cap does not sit flush.
  17. I found this http://www.z-store.co.uk/index.cfm?fuse ... rentCat=28 on their website. £220 total price inc vat. Not sure how much shipping is. I think there is an equal 10-12 lbs/ft torque increase at the wheels but again these are the "advertised" claims. I'd be interested to know how the car behaves on the road from people who have had this modification and how noticable it is after having had it fitted as 10-15 wheel hp should be quite noticable.
  18. I emailed Motordyne direct a couple of weeks ago and they were very quick to reply and helpful. They said there is a gain of around 10-15 hp (at the wheels) which must be approx 15-20 bhp at the fly and no ecu reset is required for the 5/16". To all those that have fitted this spacer - do the gains seem realistic and is it immediately noticable the first time you drive the car or does it take quite a few miles for the ecu to adjust?
  19. Thanks guys and thanks 3Fiddyz about Envy. I'm getting it fitted by GTart who are just up my road. However if I can get the part myself from someone in the UK already that will save a bit of money. Just found Envy's website. Thanks for the help.
  20. Mine was done by some jealous f*ckers too. Know EXACTLY how you must be feeling. I could see the silver metal underneath too (mine is an azure blue 350z) and it was about a metre long with squiggles (if only I could get my hands on whoever it was!). I was all ready to give up but some elbow grease with T-Cut did the job, plus polish afterwards. I was amazed how easily it came out. Now it is 99% gone and only really noticable in certain angles in sunlight only when looking very closely. The remaining light marks should come out with a machine polish - so DEFINITELY give it a go before shelling out any money. Saved myself a good 2-300 quid if not more, just from half an hour to an hour's t-cut and polishing.
  21. I'm going to get mine fixed for free by Nissan. It's a recognised "common problem" and should definitely be covered by the extended mfr warranty if not outside of warranty if the dealer is good. My window seems to go up fine when the door is closed but the rubber seal on the outside doesn't quite cover the top.
  22. I saw the same episode two or three years ago so since then prices have plummeted. 7-9yr old 996's can be had for less than £20k now. The 993 is viewed by the purists as being the "better" Porsche because it is air cooled and demand higher prices. However it's a matter of opinion. Cayman is a nice car but the only one to go for in my opinion is the "S" version. The alternative base model is a fair bit slower than the Z.
  23. Hi I'm getting a garage to fit a 5/16" Motordyne plenum spacer to my car. I would do it myself but have heard horror stories on here where diy jobs have gone wrong due to the bolts being too tight (and I do not have anything more than a spanner - no special tools). Anyway what is the longest time it would take for a spacer to be fitted (I know the strut bar needs removing first and then the cover) - an hour, two hours? Does anyone know the cheapest price to get a 5/16" Motordyne plenum spacer - I believe they are $200 but then there's the shipping? Thanks for any info.
  24. Hi Does anyone have the HKS Hi Power (true dual) twin exit exhaust with titanium tips ( ) or seen one fitted to a 350z? I personally love the loud raspy sound just wondered if anyone had heard and seen it in person and what were your thoughts ... over the top or really nice? Does anyone have a review - are they very good quality and do they fit well? Does anyone know if the bore diametre is larger or the same (2.25") as the stock exhaust (being "true dual" I assume it allows much better flow)? Thanks for any info.
