  1. Hi Which plenum spacer is best for the mark1 350z (276hp model)? I understand the 5/16" spacer is all I need but wondered which manufacturer is best quality and yields the best gains? Will I lose low down torque? Does anyone have before and after gains on a dyno after fitting their 5/16" spacer on their 276hp 350z to prove the gains? The alternative I've heard is not using any plenum spacer at all but instead only installing an MREV2 (the later rev-up engine requires both the MREV2 and spacer for optimum results - according to 350z-tech.com). Although I think for me I'd just go with the 5/16" plenum spacer. And importantly will any of the above invalidate my extended nissan manufacturer warranty? Thanks for any info on either options. Matt
  2. I'm in the same boat. Bought mine from a nissan main dealer and they said it was all hpi checked. I asked to look at the check paperwork. It said it "passed" but it didn't say HPI on the check paperwork like I've seen before. Although being a nissan main dealer I trusted them in this instance as they would be in big trouble lying or faking paperwork like this. If it was a second hand trader and not a main dealer I would probably get an HPI done. Although if it is a cat d or similar they must by law advertise the fact otherwise they are in serious trouble (thats not to say it doesn't happen as it does as highlighted above by HampshireRob - welcome by the way!). Which trader/company was the car being sold at in Halifax that turned out to be a cat d?
  3. I do this too gf gets quite annoyed sometimes when we walk half a mile to the shop. It was quite quiet this arvo and parked in a good open space and as I was walking to halfords I did notice a rough looking pair of kids in a car nearby who looked out of place but I thought nothing of it as I was literally going in and out of the shop. If only I'd parked much closer to the store this time.. and got their number plate!
  4. On my last car the timing chains needed doing around the 80-100k mile mark (that's only if you hear chain rattle though). It may be different on the 350z. Depends how good the chain tensioners are too.
  5. Mine has blue dots too. Seems to be a normal thing.
  6. Just got back from Halfords (strangely enough to buy some T-Cut) and parked the car up outside my flat and as I was walking away from the car I glanced at the passenger side and to my horror saw huge scratches down the rear wheel arch and across the passenger door I was mad! Clearly this had just happened when my car was parked in the Halfords car park and in the space of 5 mins. I was sceptical about being able to remove the scratches as I've used t-cut in the past on other german cars for lighter scratches and it hasn't made an impression possibly due to the thick lacquer. I thought I was going to have to pay out for a huge re-spray. Well with the help of my girlfriend and the "Car Plan" T-cut I'd just bought I gave it ago and bit by bit I managed to remove all the scratches. I then used some meguirs "deep crystal" polish to even it all out and get back the shine and it looks 99% as it was. You can notice a small line if you look at the paint in certain light at an angle but only looks like the car has scraped through a bush or something, thats if you notice the line. Hopefully it can be removed with a machine polish. So all in all I'm very happy! The soft paint of the 350z does have its advantages. Clearly the 350z to some people is too much of a "flash" car and it makes them jealous f***ers. My car cost less than a bog standard brand new Focus. Anyone else had similar situations?
  7. Hi Is it at all possible for some rolling roads (that use rollers) to give different wheel horse power (power at the wheels) readings to other rolling roads (for example if they're calibrated differently)? Thanks for any info.
  8. No tax is only in reference to the vehicle not the owner so you're ok. In reference to waiting for the V5 I would ring up the DVLA to make sure they are processing it and to make sure the garage has actually sent it off.
  9. Welcome mate. To be honest the 2002 one looks way over priced for its age and considering it's not got the gt spec either. You should be able to get a 3 year newer UK gt spec car for that money. Either way good luck in your search.
  10. A seller never gets their money back on modifications. The most it will do is "help" sell the car (if the potential buyer likes the mods of course) but it should never bump up the price. The mods make absolutely no difference. So I'm in total agreement with you that you should stick with 11k if not even less for the modded one. There was a local 2005 gt spec one to me recently with 59k miles, top spec fsh etc at a Nissan MAIN dealer willing to accept 11k. So to be honest you should pick up the 2005 one from a private buyer for a fair bit less. Personally I prefer the look of the silver/grey 2003 one. It has done less than average mileage at 60k miles for a 6yr old car and price seems about right and a bit of a bargain. Make sure it comes with a 12 month warranty as you're getting it from a trader and it has a spare key! If not get them to order it for you BEFORE you buy it and it states it on the paperwork. I forgot to enquire about that when I got mine and I had to wait 6 weeks for mine and pay extra money on top!
  11. Hi What is correct tyre pressure for standard 18" wheels (fronts 225/45/18, rear 245/45/18)? Going on a dyno/rolling road tomorrow and want to ensure I have the correct tyre pressure. Thanks for any info.
  12. Thanks I'll give it a go although it appears to be on the inside of the plastic. The outside of the plastic is really smooth.
  13. Report them to trading standards immediately. Totally illegal what they have done and could have landed you a large fine if you'd been stopped (doesn't matter who is the legal owner - you are in front of the wheel driving without insurance and tax). A nissan main dealer will not let you drive it away without you proving you have insurance and there is tax.
  14. Just bought my 3.5 yr old 55 reg 350z and have two years extended mfr warranty. Both headlights have the issue of the inside of the plastic cover "scarring". Only noticed it the first night I got back. It's not condensation and other members have found that when they took the light apart it was actually the inside of the plastic cover that was damaged with very very fine scratches. Seems to be a common issue and for this to happen in less than 3.5 yrs is pretty poor quality. Has anyone had theirs replaced under warranty? Thanks for any info.
  15. Depends on your phone as to whether it connects automatically when you get in the car. My gf's phone does connect automatically but mine doesn't - my phone only comes up with a prompt each time I get in the car asking if I wish to connect (plus a small chime/bong noise from the car when I get in). My samsung u600 is pretty useless on the technology front so doesn't surprise me.
  16. That's what I've read too - Only pre-march 2006 registered cars escape the tax rise.
  17. More than likely it's the mark 2 296bhp version. Don't know of any 56 platers being the latest model. Only a very few 07 reg plates are actually the 309bhp model, most are still mark 2. The majority only came in on the mid 2007 57 plates. As said above look under the bonnet for the two air filters, one each side of the engine bay.
  18. Give it a go. Be interesting how a chipped Works gets on. There won't be much in it. Both cars are very good. A stock works though will not keep up. It would have to be tuned.
  19. Agreed although that's what it says in our service manual. They were a bit stingy though and could have given it to me, with my car only just less than 2k miles from the 36k mark and 6 months from being 4 yrs old. Doesn't surprise me as the customer service there has been useless.
  20. The car had only done about a 1000 miles in the last year as it was on their forecourt for a year during the hard times of them trying to sell it. It was ten months since the last service so they serviced it anyway just before I bought it. If they were local to me I would take it back - they are half way across the country unfortunately. I've just looked at the service book and in fact it has a P1,P2,P1 (mileage 27k) ,P2 (mileage 34k), P1 (mileage 34.5k). UPDATE: just read the previous page of my service book and it says the P3 is only done if the car is 4 years old or has done 36k miles (which ever is reached soonest). So that explains it.
  21. Not according to West Way Nissan main dealers. I just bought my car from them in Manchester and they did a full service just before I picked it up. It is 3.5 yrs old and has 34k miles on the clock and the service log book reads as follows: p1,p2,p1,p2 (the fourth p2 being the service they just did). as said on your thread, the last P2 should of been a P3....... Judging by how appalling the main dealer was with me over me getting my spare key the service mistake doesn't surprise me. I'll make sure it is a P3 next time.
