  1. My new Z's oil pressure moves a fair bit higher when accelerating but this is totally normal and when not accelerating it stays in a constant spot, which should be slightly below the half way spot (all the different Z's I test drove did this). Be worried if the oil pressure if very low! It will move upwards when you apply acceleration..nothing to worry about. As long as you give it at least ten minutes of "grandad" driving with no hard revving over 3.5k when from cold allowing it to warm up properly and use the correct oil - from memory it should be fully synthetic 5w30 or 5w40 or 10w40 - there may be others you can use too not sure. And check you oil regularly.
  2. Thanks for your replies. Can Gliptone and Blackfire products be bought from Halfords (just for convenience as I have one down my road)? Bronzee you made reference to a good product that helps the headlights - which product helps? Cheers Matt
  3. Not taken any pics yet but will try to upload some soon.
  4. Hi I finally picked up my Z on Friday and am very happy with it. Excellent torque and power throughout the rev range and what a noise! Only thing I have noticed is that on high speeds I can hear the wind rustling in the driver window. The window drops fine when you open the door and then goes up as it should when you close the door. However I suspect the rubber seal is not quite air tight. Is this a "common issue" and fixable under warranty (ie technical service bulletin) or if not how easy is it for a garage to rectify? Also, noticed the common issue of the front head lights fogging up - except its not condensation but the actual plastic furring up (bit of a weak point so I've heard), as other members have experienced. Im happy to put up with it but wouldn't mind sorting it in the future if it gets worse. Can you put the later "double/bi xenon" head light units on a 2005 model? If yes how much are each complete headlight and how many hours labour am I looking at to replace both? As I know some cars are much worse than others for simple things like replacing headlight units. Also how easy is it to replace individual headlight bulbs - can you simply pull out the bulb or bulb unit from the back of the headlight as on most cars or is it more involved? The Z in azure blue certainly gets lots of attention! I'm sure this has been answered before but what do you guys use to protect your leather seats and wax your car to protect the paintwork? On previous cars I've used Meguires Carnuba "Gold" wax which has resulted in good shine and protection. Oh, final question where is the best place to get the bluetooth phone adapter? Thanks for any info.

    Keys

I wouldn't worry to much about having one key. Unless it's a REAL dodgy dealer. Quite a few members on here have bought a 350 with only one key - I'm another one! But I am more pi**ed off about having to pay the extra for a key.

I'd be wanting a little off for that .... They said it originally cost £185 and £108 was "cost" price.
  7. Hi Picking up my new 350z tomorrow and I'm pretty sure there is no cigarette lighter which is where I'd normally plug my sat nav into. Where would it normally plug into in the 350z as I'm not familiar with the interior? Thanks for any info.

The nissan main dealer I'm picking my car up from tomorrow said the car only came with one key and weren't nice enough to throw in a spare key as part of the price esp as I'm paying so much money so not the best service. Spare key costs £108.
  9. Thanks for the replies. Yes I got a copy of all the paperwork. I had a copy which was unsigned whereas they had the copy which I signed and I also have a receipt for the deposit paid. I agree I won't hand anything over unless I am 100% satisfied. I'll see how it is when I pick it up. Has anyone else here had a machine polish? How did your car look afterwards? It must be just like a thorough polish and should hopefully make it look a bit better. I'm going to give a good wax when I get it back and once a month at least as I have always done with my current car.
  10. Had my gf with me. They were friendly and helpful at the dealership. Phoned them today and they said they had machine polished it all (does this get rid of light scratches?) and done all the bits I mentioned plus sorted out some extra stone chips which has reassured me a lot so it all looks good plus MOT and full service done. Cant wait to drive it home. Having a long weekend too to enjoy it .
  11. Thanks. Would that be from when I signed the paperwork?
  12. Thanks guys. Is that spec the same on a 2005 350z - ie Thatcham category 1 alarm etc?
  13. Hi When I did my insurance it asked me if it had an engine immobiliser and factory alarm. I said yes. Is this correct? Also, are they both "Thatcham cat 1"? Thanks for any help.
  14. I have signed the paperwork, which stated the total balance to pay on collection. Did you not sign any paperwork at your main dealer?
  15. Thanks for the reply, I would do that by I live the other side of the country.
  16. How long does it take for the oil pressure to reach the middle of the gauge.. about 5-10mins?
  17. Hi I'm picking up my 3.5yr old 350 up this weekend from a main dealer and when I made an offer on the car it was on the condition a few scuffs and scratches were sorted out. My main concern is if I turn up and find they have not done any of the scratches or have only patched them up badly. If they can't rectify the problem I will definitely want to pull out. However as with any purchase I have paid a £500 deposit (with debit card not credit card). Downside nothing has been written down it was all verbal (the dealer said they were writing down all the points to be sorted but I don't have a copy) and even the dealer manager looked at my car and agreed on getting the scratches sorted out - again all verbal. However my question is if I have to pull out because they have not done the work as verbally agreed do I lose my deposit or do I have any rights? I am planning on phoning them tomorrow to find out if the work has been or is going to be completed for when I pick it up. However their version of "sorting" out the scratches may just be touching it up so it is still noticable and in my eyes a botched job in which case I will not be happy . Thanks for any help or info.
  18. Does it have to be fully synthetic or semi synthetic?
  19. The nissan dealer told me no you don't anymore but then went on to say the garage would have to use genuine nissan parts - even a non oem washer would invalidate it. Therefore I would assume upgraded brake pads or a Nismo exhaust would also invalidate it?? There was something the dealer said the other non nissan garage would have to be - I think it was ec registered (which doesnt make sense) but not sure at all.
  20. The wheel horse power figures on top and then the power figures at the fly/engine underneath - hence the top figures will be lower. The 10% loss would just refer to the transmission losses which is absolutely normal. bhp (power at the fly) will always be higher. Either way factory power figures are never spot on - at least 5-10bhp either way, depending on conditions too etc.
  21. Picking up my new 350 this weekend and naturally assumed it would have the oil temp in the trip computer like my old Golf VR6 that I drive at the mo. I find it very useful to know when I've reached operating temp before I can really floor it How do you guys know when you've reached normal temps before taking it over 3 to 3.5k revs? Do you just wait roughly 10-15 mins or so from cold?
  22. Cheers guys for the help. I'm going to give Renegade's method a go of scraping it off and then polishing it. If that doesn't work I'll resort to painting it.
  23. That sounds a bit easier than painting it - how did you avoid damaging the surrounding leather when you polished it or was the cloth you used not abrasive? Does it come out silver after polishing it? Also what type of cloth did you use to polish it - just a normal soft cotton cloth? Hope you don't mind all the questions
  24. Hi I just been reading the faqs and have found out that the normal oil pressure should be around 30psi at least. However what should the normal operating oil temperature be in average English temps in the summer? When you look at the oil temp on your trip computer how long does it normally take for you to reach this temp (I know it will be longer in cold climates)? I would assume it is around 10-15 mins at least in good old dull English weather and as with any sports car should never be taken over 3 to 3.5k revs during this warm up period. Thanks for any info. Cheers
  25. I'd be interested to know if this was resolved too.
